  1. ^ isnt there a hadith about naming children? lol@Blessed, kulaha contradiction lol, you say that we're personally acquainted? i do not know you dear!
  2. you see that's the thing NN. i'm not a unique person. in fact i'm very common and quite regular to be honest. this name is bigger than me but hey it is a fantastic ice-breaker in awkward situations. during my short but richly experienced life thus far, I've convinced many people that i was the heir to a small African kingdom and that my name was royal and that it was an criminal offensive to mispronounce it! names are very important and naming a child determines their life long progress, i feel. its key that a small deliberative meeting that consists of an expert panel should accompany the child name ceremony.
  3. i have a very traditional name and i'd much prefer if i had a normal name like everyone else. I feel the name that best compliments my personality is aidarus or one of those fancy and popular names like khalid, faisal, jamal etc. i feel my real name doesn't do me justice and i've previously tried changing it by a deed poll before considering its meaning and the reason behind it. i feel forever cursed carrying this name and its causing me serious set backs in life. at least its a traditional, somali and unlike these foreign names. my name is Boqore! LOL.
  4. ^ NN, are you a fan of these 'culturally neutral universal names' ? and does your real name fall under this category?

The region had some of the largest factories and plants processing agriculture, meat and fish in Africa. However petty qabiilism that is also displayed in this topic made sure all progress was halted and now none of these petty clans are enjoying what could have enjoyed had they been less myopic, and most likely they will not enjoy any of this for as long they maintain this paleolithic clan tradition above meritocracy and the collective good. However all this can be a reality in less 5 years time! lol@adams, don't you ever tire of the blame game sxb? lets talk about the small changes occuring and add whatever we can to that. apo, the snide negative comments are not really necessary!
  6. excellent read. thanks. Chinese FDI in africa is positive when considered against the neo-imperalist NGOs/IGOs presence here and across the continent. chinese FDI should be closely scrutinised laakin for its overall benefit. africa is now in a position to determine the merits of FDI and should seek to be a partner.
  7. arafat, inaadeero, fantastic thread marka hore. secondly, with the collapse of the proxy al-shaabab, perhaps its time to let the locals of the jubbo regions get on with the stabilising and for us to stop the meddling in their affairs. there is no benefit worthy of mention by your attempts to divide and rule.
  8. adams, please read the download and stop using one size fits all policy. cheers, Al.

The most important ingredients to creating a vibrant and flourishing private-sector are 'ease of doing business'', ''getting credit'' and the ''protection of investment''. In all three cases it puts Hargeisa at the bottom, and I'm pretty sure this is the same for every other city in the peninsula. I'll bet there are thousands of young men and women with business ideas in Hargeisa but whose plans will never surface to light because there is nowhere they could get the necessary 'capital' to start their own business, and international investor would want their investment 'secured'. This should be a 'top priority' for the politicians in Hargeisa, because the blooming of new small to medium businesses would increase their own wages and budgets in the long run, which means better roads, better electrification rate, stronger banks and more new businesses. adams, the graph above is for 'formal' sectors of the economy. registering businesses formally through the ministry of commerce should be the priority rather than the one year licenses issued from Hargeisa Municipality.

I'm a bus guy by my very nature, ruunti. i use to take the bus all the time during my first 6 months here and walahi i've never seen anything like it. its busy, its congested, its uncomfortable and so many different things. its a social space but with different dynamics to lifts, i suppose. people interact more and the public conversations can range from personal issues to matters of national importance. its a space with a social hierarchy and all the front seats are usually occupied and reserved for the elderly. its touchy-touchy and there are lots of bodily movements and connections that would make any lift journey seem 'spacial' lol.

How about you? man, london was amazing, ruunti. if only the UK was like the london i knew and dedicated much of my life to. the city was mine and i was hers, indeed. i traveled to its very depth and saw its good and bad before it spat me out. i remember Friday night out with friends and all the good times i use to have in those day before my complete rejection of the WEST. are you really a Londoner mate? lol.

  21. how dare you IBZ!!!! it never cease to amaze me that you've yet to change your obsessive nature of observing subjects in a sordid and sensational way despite the length of time you've been here. i've told you many times, stop the categorisations and what-have-yous. learn to deal with this alleged 'harsh environment' please. i can help, if required. yes, of course, to you and your like, there will always be just 'limited options' laakin, i'm the one getting up 5am to source the freshest produce from jama gunti market and then making it with my bare hands. i'll tell you what, now that i'm doing evening classes at UoH in nutrition, i can help you with maintaining a balanced diet ya?
