Picture the morning, taste and devour We rise early, pace up the hour Streets is rustling, hustling they heart out You can't have the sweet with no sour Spices, herbs, the sweets and the flower She came out precisely the hour Clouds disappear, the sun shows the power No chance of a probably shower I feel in love with my neighbor's daughter I wanted to protect and support her Never mind, I'm just 12 and a quarter I had dreams beyond our border Is it true when they say all you need is just love? (Is it true?) What about those who have loved Only to find that it's taken away? And why do they say that the children Have rights to be free? (To be free) What about those who I've known Whose memories still lives inside of me? Fatima, what did the young man say Before he stole you away on that fateful day? Fatima Fatima, did he know your name Or the plans we made To go to New York City? Fatima And after school, we studied the lessons I asked God to slow down the seconds He does the opposite, that's what I'm guessin' I better chill and count my own blessings Fatima, Fatima, what is the matter? How come you ain't come up the ladder? So we can be like there is no tomorrow Damn, you gon' make me wait 'til tomorrow She spoke Arabic and Swahili, She'd say, "Upendo anta Habibi" You so bright, you sound like my TV Then one day, she never came to meet me Is it true when they say all you need is just love? (Is it true?) What about those who have loved Only to find that it's taken away? And why do they say that the children Have rights to be free? Fatima Fatima, did he know your name Or the plans we made To go to New York City? Fatima If beauty was in the eyes of beholder How come everyone hushed when she walked by? How come girls would look just to scold her? How come the angel wanted to hold her? Fatima, Fatima, I'm in America I make rhymes and I make 'em delicate You would have liked the parks in Connecticut You would have said I'm working to hard again Damn you shooter, damn you the building Whose walls hid the blood she was spillin' Damn you country so good at killin' Damn you feelin' for persevering Is it true when they say all you need is just love? (Is it true?) What about those who have loved Only to find that it's taken away? And why do they say that the children Have rights to be free? Somaliland: Today, 28 Years Ago - 17th October 1984
Alpha Blondy replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
the SNM have played their role in liberating Somaliland from the clenches of that dictatorial regime laakin, if we're to move forward, we should create an inclusive somaliland. SNM means different things to the diverse populace of Somaliland today. -

Halkaan I am still not sure- this is going to be my 4th Eid here. I can't figure it out for some reason. I just dont feel the happy vibes here on Eid. It is a day everything is more obvious, the poverty, the problems, the lack of space, the lack children areas and parks, out of capacity eat outs. it is just sad, seeing little kids all dressed up with no where to go and people lining to get into hotels like it the qaxoonti times. LOL@IBZ, i'll ignore this tirade for once, we're all entitled to hate SL once in a while.

Live and Exclusive from Hargeisa: Q A with Alpha Blondy
Alpha Blondy replied to Alpha Blondy's topic in General
in the summer of 2009 i read things fall apart and my perspectives changed forever oba. i was deluded saxib and felt British dee LOL, in hindsight, it was also my protected upbringing that misled me about the harsh realities of life. i believed in this potent mantra of democracy, multiculturalism and human rights before denouncing the WEST forever. for the next year or so, i begun a process of self-evaluation, of change, of finding purpose and belonging. i did that by coming here, i hope. talk is cheap - action is key. the worst thing about the motherland is the difference of thinking and values between the locals and those from the diaspora and having to adjusting to norms here. i suppose the notion of cultural navigation and being able to straddle and negotiate your identity of being muslim, somali and black in the UK has no use here, since the people and the land are yours. here, seeing is believing and there are no foggy ideals. certainty, i don't doubt the importance of this but the nature and the manner in which it manifests itself is shocking. its a material society, those who have money and other material possessions are respected. everyone wants to own things, own houses, own cars, own load, own sharaf and own life and corrupt it. this nihilistic way of thinking doesn't bode well for the future of our people. its a broken society and values are eroding very quickly and being replaced by consumerism. the hierarchical system is also a worrying prospect of have and have not. i also don't like the way most locals undermine you by pretending they're more than somali than you. surely, this is open to interpretation. there is also an underbelly of moral corruption worst than anything i've seen in the WEST. its an free market here sxb. opportunities are endless. there are ample opportunities in the manufacturing sector as its non-existent. there are also opportunities in the service sector. there was an interesting seminar held at mansoor hotel last week organised by the world bank. http://doingbusiness.org/reports/subnational-reports/hargeisa. download this pdf as it'll shed more light on your questions. -

Who is The Most Successful SOLer in 'Real' Life
Alpha Blondy replied to Alpha Blondy's topic in General
4. LST. somali internet pioneer LST has not always been successful, he's recent successes belie a dark, tragic history of poverty, setbacks and a story that's truly epitomises the american dream. LST's father was abdulahi yusuf's second in command after the SSDF's abortive attempt to overthrow Barre's dictatorial administration of the late 1970. the siyadist regime sentenced his father to treason and ordered his summary execution but he managed to escape and fled with his young family to join his comrades to further conspire in ethiopia. in 1979, LST was a boy of no more than 10 when he had a vision that saw him and Tim Berners-Lee communicate telepathically. in 1985, LST and his family moved again to the Nairobi slum of eastleigh, here he would meet MMA, his future financier and man who would play a critical role in his later life. MMA was also on the long list of recent refugees from Somalia waiting to start a better life in America, although he had to wait for another 3 years as per the UNCHR's strict policy on definitions of who's a Somali and somali bantu LOL. by 1990, LST was accepted by UNHCR as a somali bantu and landed in Minnesota. living in the projects of Cedar Square, he barely got by and his years of poverty were characterized by sheer determination to succeed and achieve the American dream. From 1991 to 1993, he worked as a taxi driver whilst also attending community college in the evenings. in the beginning of 1994 LST got married. by the beginning of the new century, LST was an American, successful and the world was his oyster before being summoned by cadde muse, a former colleague in their taxi driving days and fellow puntlander to embark on establishing a website to funnel the propaganda machinery of punland's newly formed ministry of national guidance. this short lived project meant that Mohamed Dabayl now rules the editioral line of Puntland media outlets without ethics nor any journalistic standards. In 2000, he launched Somaliaone.com as the dot com boomed heralded a new wave of Somali internet entrepreneurs. his vision was apparently much greater than a discussion forums laakin the hash realities of life were to soon take their toll on his dreams. his friend MMA lent a helping hand as his dreams gained momentum. in the end of 2007, LST become executive producer on keeping up with the kardashians. he followed his up with being awarded a doctorate from Minnesota University in electrical engineering. LST aspires tothe European culture and way of life these days, now that, he's achieved the american dream. he has a fascination with the small low lying country of Belgium. it was said that his recent travels there were requested by the wallon-somali community.
