  1. in the late 1990s a man's whose name and face i would never forget in his mid 30s, balding, strong and rather cheery came to our community centre for one of those health-related mashruucs. the man was an exhibit and was paraded around like he was some animal with disease. there for us to poke fun off and insult him for what was his fate. he spoke perfect somali and seem so full of life...that was before he said something really shocking....''i'm HIV+ and i'm here to make sure you don't make the same mistake as me.....!'' about 5 years later....the infamous Mohamed Dicca, a somali suju went around spreading the virus to white women and made history in being convicted for GBH with intent.... these days, most somalis are HIV+.....sad walahi. i worry that ignorance and our taboo based culture will be rocked to its core by its devastation.
  2. ^ that's a bit lame. you've been avoiding the questions.
  3. ''..........the man with the orange shirt seated two rows to the back!'' man with the orange shirt: Hi Apo, my question is: you often come across as being a clever by half sort of chap and i've often noticed your love for all things british...... without beating around the bush too much, my question is do you think the term ''british'' has any relevance in this and age and still continues to evoke passion and pride? and do you think we've come to immoralise and come to associate ''british'' and ''britishness'' with a particular time and place in history?
  4. good evening akhayarta sharafataleh, the strangest thing happened today. i was walking next to my house when i saw violent confrontation between my neighbour amina and her husband. the screaming was mad and they didnt care that people saw their inner dynamics. later on in the afternoon, it emerged that their cat was the cause of the issues and they weren't actually fighting but chasing the cat out of the house. LOL!
  5. utterly regret posting this thread. i'm sorry I've offended HIV+ people. this illness is no laughing matter!!
  6. excellent programme. really loved watching season 1 and 2.
  7. leaving work now to celebrate my weekend in style. i got a date later on with a little chick. she's like 17 but that's fine with me.
  8. ^ hear, hear indeed! 5, i was so wrong about you. you're not a self-hating-35-something-year-old-feminist-cougar. your special and one of us LOL. how's marrakech coming along?

  12. It is with sad regret to inform SOL and SOLers I've been diagnosed with a disease of the worst kind. yesterday night, as i made my way from a very important social event, an oromo man and woman appeared before me with what appeared to be a baac with red watery contents. this man, haliam, who i previously employed to collect rubbish, and to look after my garden had been sacked two weeks ago in acrimonious circumstances. he knew my routine and had waited for me where i would be most susceptible to an attack. haliam and his accomplice made threats against my person and tried to extort $2000 from me or that they'll cut the baac with the HIV+ blood open and pure its contents over my head. haliam was presumably exacting revenge for his unfair dismissal. i refused to give into their demands....now the HIV+ blood has already permeated my skin and this morning i visited my local pharmacy which prides itself on its ''imported medicines from europe and other developed countries'' and Rashid Nuur confirmed what i suspected and feared the most - HIV positivity. i'm so sad by my fate. now i can't even leave a legacy behind. my dreams are ruined and no amount of antiretroviral imported medicines will save me. the HIV+ will take effect on my already illness-prone body almost immediately. i expect to die around the 27th of December, three days before my coronation as the SOLer of the year for 2012. if you haven't vote for me, then you must vote for me now, so i can at least die in the comfort that my life was not wasted and that i died a champion. go Vote Alpha Blondy

  14. AT, i want you to pledge your votes to me and publicly announce that you'll no longer take part in these elections. those 12 votes you received and my 9 votes would give me pole position!
  15. adams, the one-man catastrophe. why must you utter this nonsense all the time. good night.

And how did I manage to get a computer with a wireless connection? Where is the power coming from? Too many holes in that scenario bro its one of those interview type questions to see your adaptability skills? i don't make the rules. i'm just following the format. here's another; who is your hero? and why?
  17. Apo, you've been stuck on a desert island for 10 years and have been miraculously granted wireless internet connection and 5 mins. what 3 websites would you visit and why? remember its a life or death situation.

  19. its fine for somali men to marry/date non-somalis. somewhat tolerable for somali women to date non-somalis but unacceptable for somali women to marry non-somalis. but before i'm accused of being sexist, think of what's at stake.
