Kenya imposes sanctions on Abdullahi Yusuf; travel ban, etc.
Libaax-Sankataabte replied to Gabbal's topic in Politics
What truly matters is the internal situation of the country, and that is where the old man makes or breaks. We need to monitor the interior situation in the coming days and weeks. My focus would be on the Ethiopian troops, TFG army, and that whole fluid situation in the South as it relates to Nur-Cade/Shariif's sub-clan, etc. This whole "travel ban" talk seems nothing more than a rubbish entertainment to Yeey, for the simple reason that a ban of any sort won't shift this man's hardliner position in any way possible (from what I am hearing he already told Kibaki and few others to "get lost" few days earlier). PS: So far Yeey is irking for a bloody fight with the Ethiopian army and it seems he may get his Christmas wish early. We shall see. -
Nuur Cadde oo helay taageero kalsooni + Audio
Libaax-Sankataabte replied to Juje's topic in Politics
Yeey has promised to abide by the parliament's decision if the MPs reject his proposed sacking. I believe his words are on tape. He needs to stop wasting his time trying to aggravate the Ethiopians. Yeey needs to move on and respect the democratic process. -

I am getting feeds that Gacmodheere is the strongest candidate for the post. Nuur Cadde's sub-clan in Mogadishu is doing a heavy lobbying for the position to stay within their sub-clan. Yeey is very confident the MPs will approve the sacking. We shall see.

Pound 'buying less than a Euro' BBC - UK holidaymakers are getting fewer euros for their pounds. The falling value of sterling means some people are getting less than a euro for every pound when changing money, The Observer suggests. After commission and handling fees were charged, customers at some airports got just 197.13 euros for £200 on Saturday. BBC

Xuseen Xuubsireed (Yeey's spokesman) said this in Mogadishu: "He is peace loving and we are sure he will change a lot in the situation of Somalia," presidential spokesman Hussein Mohamed Mohamud told Reuters. "He will also tell the truth to the Somalis who were confused and disturbed by al Shabaab."

Pirates reacted angrily on Tuesday to an escape attempt by some of the Ukrainian crew aboard the captured arms transporter, the MV Faina. Two of the pirates were jumped by crew members but eventually overpowered, a spokesman told AFP by telephone from the ship, captured on September 25. "Some crew members on the Ukrainian ship are misbehaving. They tried to harm two of our gunmen late Monday," said the Pirate "Maybe some of the crew are frustrated and we are feeling the same but our boys never opted for violence, this was a provocation," he said, adding that the crewmen involved risked "serious" punishment. Eyl is one of the oldest cities in Somalia. The Mad Mullah thought this city on the deep fissure was the perfect place to build a base. Today the town is buzzing with a different kind of activity full of buccaneers. It is the headquarters of Somali pirates. This is their sort of a command center. Watch this fascinating video.

One of Five Suspected Somali Suicide Bomber Laid to Rest
Libaax-Sankataabte replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
Ilaahay ha u naxariisto inta dhimatay dhammaantood. Waa wax laga naxo waxani. How did this young man interpret Islam to justify going to Hargeisa and blowing himself up with the intention of killing as much innocent people as possible. When the FBI brings back the remains of your suicide-bomber relative, Is there any surprise that our mosques become targets of FBI investigations? This is a sad picture. I feel for that mother. -
. Forget Obama. It is all cooking in Canada. The Nerd Gang (as Hayam put it) is giving Bush-lite so much grief. This was my post two years ago on SOL. I like this guy. "The delegates picked someone they could trust. The one with the most experience in Ottawa's halls of power. A friend, a respected colleague, a well-known former cabinet minister who had proved himself, time and again, on difficult files. "Files" is one of those words associated with Stephane Dion -- implying hard work, a studious approach, a methodical and legalistic approach to difficult problems." http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNew s/20061202/dion_profile_061202/20061202?hub=Politi cs

One of the biggest frustrations facing journalists is being unable to get through to people on the phone. But as Mary Harper discovered, contacting the Somali pirates on the Sirius Star turned out to be child's play. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own _correspondent/7754622.stm
