  1. When Faroole privately communicated some hard reality to an assembly of Reer Galkacyo elders in Minneapolis, few felt rather slighted in that private meeting with the President. That Galkacyo is the "wild wild west" of peaceable Puntland was never President Faroole's callous depiction. Rather, it is a label the city has justly earned as government officers, elders and a countless number of its good citizens are casually hunted on a daily basis. The same folks who wished to see Faroole bow to the altar of clannish correctness when describing their inadequacy, are now repeating their by now familiar litany of excuses for Galkacyo’s predicament. It is sad indeed! Magaaladiinii wax ka qaban waydee, ha idinka saarto!!!!
  2. JB was refused entry twice this year. Twice he was seen in border town Caynaba complaining about mistreatment by some "clannish savages" in Puntland. His new stunt asking if "Nugaal has a coast" is just too much to bear. Shame on him!!!!!!!!!
  3. Ilaahay ha u naxariisto. If he killed himself, he must have been in a lot of pain.

Ibti, in the US, fictional characters, settings and titles are all protected by US copyright laws. If you wish to create a movie using characters, setting or a title from another literary work already in existence, you must get the original author's permission. Even if your storyline is distinct. I am quite positive the young man who created the movie in the heart of this controversy didn't mean to steal anyone's work. He worked hard to create this movie and probably got no financial gains from it. But, if anything, the young director would be guilty of bad judgment on his part for not recognizing the potential for controversy of utilizing similar characters or settings of a famous love story, specially when the author of the other love story is the legendary writer Faarax Maxamed Jaamac Cawl who more than deserves our praise and admiration for his literary work than a jocular dismissal. Ibti, inadeer, if you are not familiar with Farax Maxamed Jamac Cawl's famous novel which may be the first novel ever written in the Somali language, here is a brief citation on Encyclopedia Britannica. In his novel Aqoondarro waa u nacab jacayl (1974; Ignorance Is the Enemy of Love)—the first novel published in Somali—Faarax Maxamed Jaamac Cawl criticized the traditional past. He made use of documentary sources having to do with the struggle against colonialism in the early 20th century, when forces under the leadership of Maxamed Cabdulle Xasan fought, among others, the British colonial powers. The two central characters in the novel, Cali Maxamed Xasan and Cawrala Barre, were based on historical characters. The author also brings the oral poetry tradition into the novel, its characters speaking in poetic language. The novel launches an assault on ignorance, as the title suggests, born of, among other things, illiteracy. And it takes a positive view of Somali women. Customs having to do with marriage play an important role in the novel, especially the subverting of such customs for one’s own ends. Cawrala and Calimaax meet on board a ship that has sailed from Aden, and they fall in love. But Cawrala has been promised by her father to another man. Because of a rough sea, the ship founders, and Calimaax rescues Cawrala from the water. Cawrala’s love for Calimaax intensifies, and her relations with her father are therefore strained. She sends a letter to Calimaax, who, because he cannot read, has Sugulle, his new father-in-law, read it to him, and this leads to difficulties with his wife’s family. When Cawrala learns of this, she is distressed. Then she learns that Calimaax died while at war. When Cawrala laments his death, her mother forces her to leave home. Then, at night, a voice comes to Cawrala, telling her that “a hero does not die.” And in fact, Calimaax did not die; he was wounded, but he survived. Alone and wounded, he must fight a leopard, and the words of Cawrala’s letter sustain him. In the meantime, Cawrala is miserable, and she debates with her parents and members of her community whether she should marry the man her father has selected for her. She is forced to marry the man, Geelbadane. But she becomes so ill that he sends her back to her family. Calimaax, learning of this, sends a message to her family, asking that she be allowed to marry him. Her family agrees, but she dies before the marriage can take place. Two years after that, still suffering from his wounds and his love for Cawrala, Calimaax dies. A later novel by Cawl, Garbaduubkii gumeysiga (1978; “The Shackles of Colonialism”), has to do with contemporary history.

  7. Saantaaro, awoowe Xiin ma foga. He is slightly frustrated by the youth's tactics. We all are. But he is not a calmaani xajir ah. Xiinoow, all the characters in the current pre-show are by design complex, quite baffling and in general, mystifying to the common digester of political spin. Only a more nuanced perspective of counting the veiled portions would we obtain a better interpretation of the desired sum. As I stated earlier, Al-Shabaab’s heavy handed approach to social issues conveys regrettably, an unduly message the commoner views as hardly worth the stature to build an Islamic movement around. It is understandable. However, that which is being pushed by the partisans is a narrative based on mere half truths and it conjures up an unpleasant image of the youth as deviant foreign mercenaries. I just view the grim assessment and the mere characterization as being outside the acceptable bounds of believable substance. Specially to us junkie veterans. I have following Somali politics for as long as I can remember. I am of the opinion Al-Shabaab’s good outweighs their negatives. It is just a matter of thought. As for a solution, there are serious problems, awoowe, on both side and I am of the opinion the solution lies somewhere in the middle. Mujahid Red Sea, don’t get me wrong. I am a strong supporter of dialogue and reconciliation.
  8. The video is dead now. what is going on? The video is not working. It seems this was a limited viewership video. I can't view it anymore. It is telling me "your time is up" when I clicked again. Who is the "yellow"? I missed it.
  9. Confirmed. Thanks for the video you PM'ed me. That was her. Definitely her!!!
  10. Garoowe waa kacsan tahay labadaan maalmood. Sayid, Qardho has complained about the Prep Committee not allocating the appropriate funds for the local event. That is a mere technicality in the overall scheme of things, of which the blame lies with the Prep Committee.
  11. Sheekadani mid dhamaanaysa uma eka. Back and forth indeed.

  14. Xiinoow, bal hada dib ugu noqo oo dhuux miraha, ha calaacaline. Qumbulad yar ayuun baan madaxa kaaga garaaci ilaa qiyaame. Taasi waa horudhace belo soo maqan. Taasna ogoow Gabay-Xume War aaway garsoorayaashii. Xiin ma mayd baa mise weli waa nool yahay? Ma ku wadaa odayga mise waa foolxumo in lagu talax tago?
  15. Xiin needs to be told the truth. Suugaanta gabay waan ogaa ... kuguma soo sikane Saaqsaaqnimoda iyo tixdaad ... safka hore keentay Si hadaan u fiiriyo salwoow ... saafi noqon wayday Saliilyoodaye suugaanta baro ... sidani kuu darane
  16. The usual characterization of the youths as pseudo–religious zealots forever submerged in violence or captives of foreign influence, is nothing more than a political play. No doubt does Al-Shabaab’s approach to social issues seem heavy handed at times or slightly unyielding to the delicate psyche of the current populace, but be as it may be, theirs is, I believe, the only approach best suitable to de-emphasizing that which was in the past blamed of being the nation's cancer; clanism.
  17. In its most genuine form, true diplomacy awakens that old intuitive spirit allowing all parties to focus on a common solution. Where political settlement was the issue, the opposition to this government has repeatedly made clear a stand. That which places strong emphasis on the need for foreign troops, they argue, is a phony solution lacking political sincerity. I agree!!.

In light of the robust challenge I mounted to this false witness, who is missing since, I think the man has to stop claiming victroy. I 100% agree. It is very sad what is happening here. Xiin's poetic bravado in front of bewildered neophytes is what the Texans traditionally call "all hats and no cattle". We, the true poets, saw through the cracks in his jacbur. There is no question Xiin hearts poetry in general, but he is not a poet, nor can he compete with the likes of Libaax and the cornered Gaaxnuug, whom I know has a great deal of raw poetic finesse. This fake festivity must stop. It is driving me nuts.
