Sen. Chuck Schumer: "Democrats are energized" Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just sent a statement about Jones' win, calling him a "great candidate. He also slammed Roy Moore, saying he "never should have gotten to the Senate." Here's the full statement: “Doug Jones will be an outstanding Senator who will represent Alabama well. He was a great candidate and will be an even better Senator. “Roy Moore was an awful candidate and never should have gotten to the Senate. But make no mistake about it, just like in Virginia, Democrats are energized, focused on the middle class and those struggling to get there, and things are looking better and better for 2018.”

I hope everyone wakes up. A moderate form of spiritual Islam was what our forefathers practised. Whoever brought Wahabism to Somalia in the 80s created this culture of killing and chaos.

That is sad depressing. How can the average person function if everyone else is a snitch for the terrorists?

Today I was crossing a traffic light and I was almost hit by a car. Apparently the guy didn't see me or the crossing. So I wonder what can cities do to keep people safe. I came across this neat idea that some cities are already implementing to keep pedestrians safe.

There has been so much protest and controversy over this port project that you wonder what UAE's plan is for this port. Is it to keep other investors away or is the UAE really interested in developing this port for the benefit of the country?

Very good analysis Galbeedi. I believe that despite the few difficulties here and there, Somaliland is the Somali people's closest thing to a true democracy. You have to understand that Somaliland is a poor country by most of the world's standards and it still managed to pull off an orderly, generally fair election amid the turmoil in the region. On the other hand, Ciro is a god-fearing man with mild manners, and that character comes handy in many situations. It is very possible he would have been the least corrupt President Somaliland ever had. Mr. Biixi doesn't have a good record in fighting corruption and I don't know if anything will change in Somaliland in the next 5 years. Biixi could surprise us all and build exemplary legacy, but I think he will always be seen as the poster boy of Kulmiye and not a "change" leader.

Mogadishu residents are the most resilient. It is obvious they didn't like Trump giving more legitimacy to Israel's occupation of Islam's third holiest site. In hindsight, It was a good thing that Farmaajo refused to meet Natentahu in Nairobi before the Jerusalem controversy started.
