  1. I think the poem I posted above and this one below belong here. ----- Somalia I had a dream of you last night Oh my Somalia! Shame my blissful scene didn't last Amazing how you gazed and then wept The sun up above and shining on you The moon with teary eye smilled at you Together promised to shine on you The air of hope blew across your face! The stars did shoot at will with joy One little star came aforth and whispered "I'll twinkle if you're lost in darkness" To all my amazment and more excitment! Standing before you was a man so old I am here my blood and flesh, he said You know me not but i know the truth Tear you shed prevented worse to come And Mirror of your image talks of peace My name is Pride, he said and flew away I then jumped awake from the sleep i was happy but then so confused Aside my bed stood an angel all white Everything i saw was bright and light She put me back to sweetest of sleep and another episode of beautiful dream In my dream was a woman so peaceful wipping the doubts off my heart Soothing all the anxieties i had Erasing stress my depressed mind She utterd, why did you kill me, why do the somali so much hate me I fed you from my rich breast, i was your independence and hope She then disapeared into the thin air I thought this shadow of dream is over But I could hear the drums from far, the loud whistles and the whoops Marching near and getting louder, lined up in rows, wearing our flag we're so willing to forgive, they cried We died for all of you to live in peace, Now must we rise from the graves again once more be there to guide you again? No! No i said again with voice of regret Oh! ancestors, we know not which way to go But soon the sun will rise again, for us to see The rivers will flow again, to clean the stain The children will become chidlren again and our women will begot the bravest of men Soon the green will grow and birds will sing Soon the cloud will clear, the need will arise To stop the baby killing and the rapine To stop the moran and the warlords But when? they murmured, but when? Soon my ancestors i feel it, i cried soon prosperity and sweet peace will be Soon these ugly sloughter will sieze, soon the best of our minds will awake Soon this nightmare will be over forever
  2. To somalis The fate our people is too hard to fathom Transcending the depth of all thoughful brains I fear our slither will give birth to doom More death and cry won't achieve the freedom Like the Gog we are digging into more sorrow Hoping to cry no more and smile tommorrow But expect never ever to witness that day When all is still and souls are ready to pray Superstition, and arrogant clan traditions of Filthy elders are these deaths attribution So can i be blamed, for crying louder than a crow Warn the danger, of those sipping our souls with a strow I wish my words were like precious stones to bestow To nourish the hearts of my people, whose esteem is so low Drop the guns Let go this scum uncle, let go this gun brother Don't plan more war uncle, Don't kill more lives brother I can't beg and be calm but I I can cry to supress the pain till you stop
  3. Thank Starlight... Love is not what brings me fear, I fear what it does to another. I was loved many a times, But failed to love back many times. I have a way with words and love, But others have no choice with love.

  5. You know you are addicted to coffee if ... -You grind your coffee beans in your mouth. -You sleep with your eyes open. -You have to watch videos in fast-forward. -The only time you're standing still is during an earthquake. -You can take a picture of yourself from ten feet away without using the timer. -You've worn out your third pair of tennis shoes this week. -Your eyes stay open when you sneeze. -You chew on other people's fingernails. -The nurse needs a scientific calculator to take your pulse. -You're so jittery that people use your hands to blend their margaritas. -You can type sixty words per minute with your feet. -You can jump-start your car without cables. -You don't sweat, you percolate. -You walk twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in. -You forget to unwrap candy bars before eating them. -You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers. -People get dizzy just watching you. -Instant coffee takes too long. -You channel surf faster without a remote. -You have a picture of your coffee mug on your coffee mug. -You can outlast the Energizer bunny. -You short out motion detectors. -You don't even wait for the water to boil anymore. -Your nervous twitch registers on the Richter scale. -You help your dog chase its tail. -You soak your dentures in coffee overnight. -Your first-aid kit contains two pints of coffee with an I.V. hookup. -You ski uphill. -You get a speeding ticket even when you're parked. -You answer the door before people knock. -You haven't blinked since the last lunar eclipse.
  6. Xafsa true that. The problem is, we have people who called themselves "educated" and there are those who are truly "knowledgable". So does education mean qualification or a routine, or is it knowledge in a recognised and formal(western) way?
  7. My love is only for thee
  8. Defeated by love I lock all my doors every single day Curtain dark each window all the way. Block the holes and all the ventilaters Make it hard for this love to enter But it finds its way into my daily life And In every way that i try to remain safe Not a single effort holds it at bay --- I cannot avoid it anymore, am consumed Am shot with love by a beautiful stranger Who comes walking behind the path i trail With mysterious beauty that invites curiousity I see her everywhere, talking pure poetry Whispering close to my ear, hypnotising So shall i follow the scent that i smell? Coz day may come soon to see if its a dream If i'm lost in a dream like a star, she twinkles Like a bright star across skies that winks at me Which vanishes as the sun take the morning sky Waving faintly, smilling kissing me good bye So i ask, are you that star, one full of light? And every evening as the sun sets good bye Do you twinkle again up in the sky saying hi! For you starlight.....

  18. The aged elders lost the wisdom they had The busy vulture still feats on our dead The grown minds have grown out of thought What is left is wait with both hands tied And dwell on memories that long ago existed A decade ago we hoped but now hope has sunk Proud we use to be, today we beg as if sick Camel milk replaced by the vouchers we keep Our old are wasted and most of youth lost

  22. "1 Sometimes even the aloes Bear honeyed flowers Whose nectar you slurp I am sweetness & bitterness Planted in the same place. ll My right hand and left hand are twins: One entertains the guests and walks the weak; The other is daggers dripping woes & wormwood. lll My son, I am rich, I contain countless contraries: Do not take me For a poor monomaniac Out on a limb Hectoring for his bloody hobby-horse. lV Sometimes I am faithfully obedient, Well-mannered, Utterly innocent of evil: And sometimes I am the obdurate destroyer, An arrant knave. V Sometimes I am the anchorite Who sequesters himself in the mosque To review his life and purify his heart: And sometimes I am the villain, The loony Who blusters in every saloon in Somalia: "Go to now. I'll prove thee With mighty-mouthed Evil Till my cup runneth over With contumely and crazy Àasha." Vl Sometimes I am The towering heads Of wit, wisdom, eloquence, Of honor, & forbearance: And Sometimes I am The loafer The nowhere man With no name in the street. Vll Sometimes I am A man who does not allow anything unkosher Go past his gullet: And sometimes I am A thief dyed-in-the-wool Who does not spare Even the orphan's share. Vlll Sometimes I am The leader Of high-ranking saints and sages: And sometimes I am An honorable member Of Satan's conclave-- After the fiend's very own heart. lX A presumptuous Jack Cannot size me up For I run interference for chameleons For I keep school for chameleons. Daily I turn: Every morning My complexion is distinctly Of different color & creed. I know how to hobnob With both Muslims And With heathen honky monkey alien infidels: The angels of Hell and Heaven Argue over my soul. X No man has traced to me All these contraries I trail; But a man of many days, One whose head is hoary, Or One who is hip To sizing men up May possibly Take my proper measure. Xl O everyman Jack, Pick your sweetest, Most apt metaphor To brand me with: Ride the hobby-horse Your heart hobbles after, Or The one you can't help but Tease me with. Speak Right on; Ride on For I make ways For you: Please, Take your choice."
