  4. lol! learning somali is not a easy feat! count your blessing walal! i wish i could write somali.
  5. Paul Ince sacked! I am not surprised to be honest. There is so much pressure in the premiership these days, you need to move mountains to save your job. There was so much hype around his appointment, it was inevitable he would be sacked soon rather than later. One thing is for certain though: Harry Redknapp is a saviour.
  6. its been a pleasure to watch ibtisam finally writing a decent and structured sentence in somali. Now all things are possible.
  7. Well you're supposed to answer all the question! No wonder you scored so lowly. What’s with the fascination with my name! I have been reincarnated as DOBBS! Nuune, must you write in af-somaali?
  8. ^^ Its very unlikely that you could score so lowly in the test! your always on here! and no doubt on other social networking sites! you might wanna do the test again!
  9. I recently scored 96% in an internet addiction test: http://www.netaddiction.com/resources/internet_add iction_test.htm However much i like to deny it, the internet defines my life. I dont even bother to make friends in 'really life'' any more. Most of my friends are online on a number of forums, facebook etc! such is the level of addiction, i answered in the affirmative about this question: 20. How often do you feel depressed, moody, or nervous when you are off-line, which goes away once you are back on-line? 1 = Rarely 2 = Occasionally 3 = Frequently 4 = Often 5 = Always***** Does Not Apply This is so sad! I need help! any suggestions?
  10. itsnt time we did the SOL member of the year! its coming to the end of the year! i have only been here for 6 months, so cant obviously do it! Where the usual trollers who thrive on this kind of thing!
  11. thats a really good book, i enjoyed reading but the follow up- Dune Messiah was a bit disappointing!
  12. The thread has been sabotaged by the af-somaali lot!  I think there is a delibrate ploy to undermine the purpose of the thread.
  13. ^^according to who! are you an authority on the spatial geography of Somalia. Using an unreliable tool like googlemap doesnt quantify these findings. How exactly did you determine and come to these findings?n What was your methodology? Is it based on land size, population etc?
  14. why is berbera not on there! its a major city in Somaliland, there also a number of cities/towns that have been missed! I am afraid your research must have been flawed! what was your methodology and how did you come to this conclusion!
  15. This thread is for those of us with limited grasp command of the Somaali language. Lately it appears that there has been an over-exposure of the Somaali language in this forum, albeit a somali forum. We feel left out of the interesting discussion between those with a good grasp of Af-Somaali and the wrong side of 40. And no matter how bad people like Ibtisam and others try to write in Af-Somaali and integrate them among the elite of SOL, no one is convinced. Wouldnt it easy for everyone if we standardised the language format of the forum. Preferably in English!
  16. Dobbs is me! what type of questions is that DD! NGONGE, you're cool! i have to admit but you've been looking in that mirror for too long! You should be awarded the forum member of the year!
  17. malika, just send some back, it might hinder your chances of a promotion. make your self more seen and heard from. its in your best interest!
  18. Don’t for a minute think you can intimidate me with your eloquent command of the English language! I know ignoramus when I see one!
  19. In a very festive mood! its the christmas party at work! dont you just love it!
  20. The somali pirates are hot!! Honourable men defending their country! wonderful! People shouldnt listen to these politically motivated slurs!

    UK

its quite ironic that most of the UK residents have advised Hayat to go to art gallaries, tate modern museums and the works! but how many of you actually do these so called cultural things. My suggestion is to see the following places: Masaj Shisha Bar - a hit with all euro/america/canadian somali tourists! - Blue Bar - known for its 'fighting finales' - you'll have an amazing time - good atmosphere with somewhat sombre music but you'll always witness a fight that will cap your night with horrors of somali savagery! Tottenham High Road - a cultural mecca for many somalis looking for meat or groceries, this place with its delightful shopping parades will entise even the most hard-pressed somali tourist. Mile End Road- where a number of Nomads are rumoured to reside, this is a fanatastic day out for those with a nose for the historical dimensions of somali inhabitants in the UK - Make a visit to the somali veteran day care centre - where you'll be whisked off your feet by the tragic but always entertaining stories of the somali seamen. if you need any more hayat, let me know!

These crude yet practical generalisations have more substances than your nostalgia!
  23. I think a lot has changed in 6 yrs. Somalis are more integrated, there are more Somali graduates and more professionals! Despite this a lot of people have fallen by the wayside. I think there has been more progress from women in particular. More have been emancipated and liberated from the shackles of nomadism and ignorance. Men have generally not fared so well, the number of Khat houses has increased dramatically and so have the number of people induced and profits obtained.
  24. I think this issue has been very much undocumented on this forum. It’s the single biggest issue facing the global, possibly after global terrorism and yet receives very little attention amongst Somalis. I suppose people are too busy talking about trivial issues. The credit crunch has personally affected all of us. Prices have rapidly increased. Check these out: Meat and fish: +22.9% Fruit and veg: +14.7% Bakery/Cereal: +6% Milk and dairy: +15% This is even worse for those on benefits! The little handouts they receive from the government means they really have to priorities their money! that is 52% of Somalis in the UK. Source: Somali Eye Magazine, Issue 14 - Nov 2008
