Darman bro, i am glad you have come to your honesty ideology. the issue with the schooling is that when people get accepted in the universityies here, they take that as an advantage of thats it, when am done with uni, its landing them big jobs and money, which in reallity it does not work like that. you have to do both firstly get yourself in the working field while you are in school. so by volunteering etc etc, i know its hard but it is doable, where there is a will there is a way. and about the issue of the nomads having their dreams crushed, i don't believe in that for in a sense they could have gone to other institutes, colleges and basically there are othher ways of getting around to what you actually want in life. I think one of the dilemmas sometimes of our fellow nomads is that, we give up too quickly, or is that we don't have an open mind to the issue of Allah's will. Mind you i am talking also from a personal experience when it comes to issue of engineering and so forth. Check this, we start of with Canada day celebrations, and am telling you every weekend there is soemthing hype happening. the yonge street festivals in july, African festival happening at the same weekends with yonge festival. so you get some latina tastes and african tastes, plus some canadian things, and alot of music and food. big stars usually appear in these festivals too. Then comes, CARIBANA, the taste of the Islands, music and jams like crazy, a lot of americans come up here for that.the food, and to finish it off, we got the taste of the Danforth, which is the Greek festival, lots of yummy food again. and moreover it continues to september with fireworks at wonderland, and the art shows in the first weekends of september. Now interms of chilling, lots of beautiful parks in the city, the beaches, but be warned with the lake ontario, sadly we have no salty water, alittle bit outside the city nice locations for camping, if there are any campers in here. haha. For those interested on going to canada's wonderland, i would suggest for a good enjoyment of rides day, go during a weekday, because mostly its empty and not long line ups. For those gallery goers, and museums, always fuun stuff to see, moreover for those in sports, there are always competitions happening, basketball, and soccer. And how could i forget, the big somali soccer event that happens every July.Talking about Nomads, the City of T-DOT gets packed with NOMADS FOR THIS EVENT.and as usual parties all over, mind u the finals mostly happen at the same weekend as the yonge and African festival. Anyways, that was a little something something for those who are planning to tour the city, and check out the city. oops, one more thing, there is THE FORMULA ONE competition too, and CNE the exhibition place, all in end of july for the indy race, then caribana then cne end of august to september. O and for those hiphop fans, there is going to be a thing down at Harbourfront Centre, thats another place to check out, every weekend there are events running there, a world food tent, and bunch of the toronto multi-cultural theme is covered there. and the Latino festival, which includes orchestra too, for those classical music lovers, and some salsa and merengue. WE HAVE IT ALL! WELCOME TO THE SUMMER OF TORONTO!

We are the diaspora, eventhough u hate to say it, but we are, and so as the ones who left even before the wars to arabia and so forth. The dream of going back, should not be the barrier for someone not to live their life in a foreign land, now being their home, whether permanent or temporary.You should always make something of yourself, no matter where u are, for if u don't, u cheat yourself out of 'life'(whatever life might be to you). Question, why do u hate using the word diaspora?

J11-correct, that is what is needed, and the issue is how to start it, and encourage one another on doing this. But i disagree with your comment of if a language is lost, so is the culture. that is not a true statement, for i have seen that even without the assertive knowledge of the language, the traditional practices, still take place amongst the people, and cultural practices.

Hello my fellow sol members, firstly i believe everyone is having difficulty with logging in to sol. hope they fix whatever the issue is quickly, it is all about the servers i guess. Anyways, i just wanted to bring in this topic, of the notion of somali language and the performing arts. i believe we need to revive these things, inorder for the young ones to see what it is about somalis and their culture, i've met a lot of kids, youth and older people, who are very submissive of the performing arts, of the somali people, and they were somalis themselves. Didn't believe on the cultural dance, for it ain't a big thing they say. and the only place you see these dances per say, are in weddings. So my fellow SOL members, when is it that we will stand up and be proud of our ethnicity and culture? when is it that we will show the world, that the cushtics from the eastern side of AFRIKA have exquisite dances and languages that could be shared with the world? NOTE: if u know of organizations which are established in this sort of environment, please share.

this is a neat questioning, i cannot answer due to that i have more questions and queries. eventhough there are positives coming out of a democratic state, i am still tingled with the notion, is democracy good for African nations? Seeing alot of issues and problems being caused by the introduction of a new governance since the independence eras, i cannot help but see, the defaults of democracy. why i say defaults is because, what has happened most of the time, the governments forget the cultural rule of law and involving the full society. it still feels like the African States are still pawns in the board game. mind you i am not only talking about Somaliland specifically. It would be great to hear what the brothers and sisters in here, who know more, to elaborate on this, or hear their point of views.
