Of course a lot of the time we spend repeating things, because the men didn't pay attention the first time around

Women talk more than men: official A "self-proclaimed feminist" psychiatrist has finally thrown in the towel and admitted her fellow females do indeed talk more than men, The Daily Mirror reports. Dr Luan Brizendine of the University of California, who's published her shock findings in The Female Brain, says the average woman works her way through 20,000 words per day, compared with just 7,000 for the average bloke. She says "women devote more brain cells to talking than men", and cites fundamental differences between male and female brains as the cause. Brizendine - whose findings are based on her own clinical work and the findings of more than 1,000 studies - reluctantly admitted: "I know it is not politically correct to say this but I've been torn for years between my politics and what science is telling us. I believe women actually perceive the world differently from men. "Girls arrive already wired as girls, and boys arrive already wired as boys. Their brains are different by the time they're born, and their brains are what drive their impulses, values, and their very reality." Indeed, Brizendine says said differences "can be traced back to the womb, where the sex hormone testosterone moulds the developing male brain". Specifically, "the areas responsible for communication, emotion and memory are all pared back the unborn baby boy". Accordingly, males "chat less than their female counterparts and struggle to express their emotions to the same extent" - which is hardly news to long-suffering females. Brizendine elaborated: "Women have an eight-lane superhighway for processing emotion, while men have a small country road." And when they're not cruising their eight-lane superhighway of emotion, women are getting a quick fix of verbals because "the simple act of talking triggers a flood of brain chemicals which give women a rush similar to that felt by heroin addicts when they get a high". Men, on the other hand, beat women hands-down in one area: contemplating rumpy-pumpy. Brizendine noted "that while a man will think about sex every 52 seconds, the subject tends to cross women's minds just once a day". To put that in perspective, "men have an international airport for dealing with thoughts about sex, where women have an airfield nearby that lands small and private planes", as the good doctor put it. Some scientists reckon, however, that Brizendine's conclusions have driven her down a promising-looking dual carriageway only to end at a collapsed bridge of scientific proof. Oxford University linguistics professor Deborah Cameron insisted "the amount we talk is influenced by who we are with and what we are doing". She concluded: "If you aggregate a large number of studies you will find there is little difference between the amount men and women talk." http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11/28/female_chat_addiction/

Actually Dabshid is quite correct to a certain extent. Dad badan baa ku lafo ruuga and hide behinf NGOs. I was tempted myself to remain in Boosaaso and work for one. It was quite tempting. To say all of them are immoral would be generalising but huge number of them are.

NYC Cabbie Returns Bag Of Diamond Rings From Associated Press February 07, 2007 11:42 AM EST NEW YORK - A taxi driver returned a black bag carrying 31 diamond rings to a passenger who earlier had given him a 30-cent tip on an $11 ride. Hours after Osman Chowdhury dropped off the passenger, he tracked her down through a flurry of phone calls and returned the bag, which she had left in the taxi's trunk. The unidentified woman, who said she was a jeweler, offered a $100 reward. Chowdhury accepted the money to cover the fares he lost while tracking her down. Chowdhury, a native of Bangladesh, told the New York Daily News that he didn't so much as consider keeping the gems. "I'm a hard worker," the soft-spoken cabbie said. "I enjoy my life. I'm satisfied. I'm not going to take someone else's money or property to make me rich. I don't want it that way." "When I find something left in my cab, and I can return it to the owner, I feel very happy. I feel proud," he said. http://enews.earthlink.net/article/nat?guid=20070207/45c95cd0_3ca6_1552620070207728245559

Very good post Aisha. It is so true that we wait for things to happen that would complete our lives and be deliriously happy. But life doesnt work out like that. When i was student, i absolutely hated it and wanted so badly to earn money and work. But now that i am here, i long for my student days. It is just human nature i guess.

Oh dear.. We have couple of gays in London. My sister went to school with one. But since he claims to be an atheist, nothing can be done. The sad thing is his family arent aware of it. When he is at home he is like any other somali. When he is at parties, the hotpants with tank tops are out with a beer in his hand. The other bloke i know lures his victims to his house which is nearby under false pretence (aboowe, kaaly ii turjum waraaq iiga soo dhacdey ceyrta..aniga ingiriisi ma aqaani). So when the unsuspecting blokes try to help in his house, he comes so close to them and ask them ....Well i cant even mention that. Anyhow he got close to get the beatings of his life more than once. May Allah guide them all.

There is a reason oo loo yeri "fanaxloow faciisa ka roon". Tis something to be proud of. I know women wit fanax were sought after back home. And now we make our men with fanax prime minsters Red: I probably seen many others with similar face. You reminded me of little one oo shukaamiyey once and borrowed my ring and never to be seen again back in Kenya..lol

Red..you have very common face. I have similar face where people of all races come up to me and say 'Arent you hebla hebla..hey i know you'..Everyone will say i have seen you before. Incidently..i think i have seen you. But since i have never been to US...it is most unlikely.

The story of Barseesa Qisas.com There was a man who lived amongst the children of Israel named Barseesa. His worship and devotion to Allah was so great that we call him ‘aabid bani Isra’eel’: the great worshipper from the Children of Israel. During his time, the King of the land made a call for men to join the army to fight in a jihad against an enemy. Amongst those who wanted to sign up were three brothers, but there was one problem. They had one sister and no other family to look after her. So they decided to go to Barseesa, the righteous man, and ask him to look after her in their absence, as they feared no evil from him. Barseesa immediately refused their request: he would rather devote his time to worship of Allah. But when the three brothers went away, shaitan came to Barseesa and whispered to him “If you don’t look after the sister, then they will leave her in the hands of someone else, and then her safety isn’t guaranteed.” So Barseesa changed his mind and took responsibility for the sister while the three brothers left. He left her in a house next to the building in which he prayed and each day he would prepare her some food and leave it outside his house for her, and then she would come and pick it up. After some time, shaitan again came to Barseesa and suggested “why don’t you go and deliver the food to her doorstep. As it is, she is coming out of the house and everyone sees her, and you can see her inconvenience.” So Barseesa accepted this suggestion and started taking the food right to the doorstep of where she was staying. This continued for a while until shaitan came to him again and said “how can you leave the food at her doorstep? She still has to open the door and people see her.” Barseesa again changed his plan and decided to take the food into the house. But that was it, he decide. No further. So this continued for a while until shaitan came and whispered to him “why dont you ever ask her how she is, at the moment she lives like a prisoner no one ever talks to her.” So now Barseesa started to talk to her, and soon they were smiling and laughing with each other and then passions flared, and then they fell in love, and then Barseesa, `aabid Bani Israeel, committed zina. The story doesn’t end there because she became pregnant. Shaitan now came to Barseesa and said “What have you done? If those three brothers come back and find their sister with a child, they will know that you betrayed their trust and committed zina with their sister, and then they are going to kill you. The only way to get out of this situation is to kill the child.” So Barseesa killed the child. Shaitan came back to him again and warned “Do you think that the woman is going to keep quiet about the fact that you killed her child? The only way you can save yourself from this situation is to kill her too.” So Barseesa killed her as well. Time passed, and the three brothers returned from jihad and asked for their sister. Barseesa merely pointed to a fake grave in which he had buried some animal bones. So the brothers cried and returned to their home. However, shaitan came to each of them in a dream and said “that man Barseesa is a liar. When you were away he committed zina with your sister and then he killed her and their child and buried her in such-and-such place. And the grave you were shown is a fake grave with animal bones in it.” When these three brothers woke up, they were shocked that they had all shared the same dream. So they checked the false grave to find the animal bones, and found the real grave of their sister and her child. When they interrogated Barseesa about it he confessed to everything, so they chained him up and dragged him to the King so that he could be executed. On the way there, shaitan appeared to Barseesa in a physical form and said “O Barseesa, do you know who i am? I am shaitan, and i am the one who has led you along this path. And now i am the only one who can save you.” Barseesa begged for help, so shaitaan instructed “If you prostrate to me i will save you.” So Barseesa prostrated to shaitan and … shaitan disappeared. Barseesa ex-`aabid Bani Israeel was led away and executed. The once best of people died as the worst of poeple. The point of the story is, you might think at the beginning that what you are doing is fine and that you can keep check on your emotions and everything, but you don’t know where this will lead to. Shaitan didn’t come to Barseesa directly and tell him to commit zina or murder, rather he took the softly-softly approach, and Barseesa fell for it. Shaitan doesn’t come to us guys and say “go and sleep with that girl.” He starts off by saying “hey, check her out, isn’t she pretty.” And then, “why don’t you just pop over there and say hello to her?”* and then … i guess you know what i’m saying. This excellent story was shared by a brother, may Allah (SWT) reward him. AMEEN. When Allah has said that shaytan is an awoved enemy to you and we dont understand all his little ways that he uses to trap us, why open the door for him…

Actually Ngonge makes sense here. Niqaab is not strictly compulsory. And in this day and age (with the current anti-Islam climate), it shouldnt be an issue. I however suspect that this isnt about niqaab but the anti-Islamic propaganda that became a surrogate for a social "integration. In short, the indegenous populace are told : don't speak out against the "free market", don't object the abrogation of the human rights in the cases of Belmarch, Gizmo etc, because the "MOSLEMS" are out there to get you. The proof is the veil. Niqaab can be worn for any sister who wishes to. However in life, there will be cases where it is compulsory for the women to reveal her face i.e. case of marriage, selling, giving gifts, debts, power of attorney, medical treatments, Hajj and ‘Umrah, every prayer of the day etc. On the other hand this issue is one of freedom of religion which the West likes to mouth off - like other maxims like innocent until proven guilty and ensuring civil treatment of people in jails.

Jacelbaro War Cajaa'ib. Nin jamaljaan ah ayaa ugu yeeraya his big sister cawaandiyad (not sure of its meaning, but it sounds bit iffy to me). Huguri dearest, Well, you did a very good job of using someone else's (jaceylbaro) style of vague slur against our girls, a great show of originality . To address the point in the original post (for what is worth) It is all about respecting and having hayaa in oneself. My dad expected us to bring any handholder (borrowed from Devangle)to our house instead of (using his words) 'luuqyada lala taagnaan lahaa nimanka'. My aunty did just that and maxaa ka raaceyhee..She and the man she brought once were the butt of every joke in our household. I have learnt that lesson well and never brought anyone home, except my husband. This was after he came to see my dad. I have a friend that lets her mom know everything she does (i mean everyone she meets). Everythime my friend is heartbroken, so is her mom. I could never put my mom through that. It is better to let the family know markii aad so xeri geliso ninka.

Moroccans hail 'miracle worker' By Richard Hamilton BBC News, Skhirat Torbi el Mekki claims to be able to heal all illnesses Thousands of people queue up every day with a bottle of water or bag of sugar to see Morocco's latest sensation - a traditional healer. Torbi el Mekki, the man being hailed as the miracle healer of Skhirat, a village about 30km south of the capital, Rabat, says he can cure any disease from HIV/Aids to cancer. When pilgrims reach the front of the long line, they are ushered forward by his assistants. It is a very quick process: Mr Mekki shakes their hands; touches their bottle of water or bag of sugar - which he says will cure them of all their ills - and blesses them as they go past. "I do this in the name of God. I do not do it for money," he says dismissing suggestions that he is a charlatan. "If I wanted to do it for money I would gain billions every day. But I don't need money because I am already rich from land that I inherited." Some people say he makes money out of the sugar and water that they have to buy. My doctor said that the lump had gone down to just 7mm and was no longer malignant Breast cancer patient Vendors sell bottled water along the roadside to eager pilgrims making their way to Skhirat. But Father Mekki, as he is known, denies that he is exploiting people. "God gave me this talent so I have to use it. "Even some doctors have come to see me and you will see cases of people who have been cured. There was a man with cancer that came all the way from France and now he is cured." 'Healing water' After their blessing, Father Mekki tells his followers to drink to their water once its smell changes to benefit from its curative properties. Father Mekki denies that he is exploiting people Those who have drunk the water seem convinced that he has succeeded where clinical doctors have failed. ""I was diagnosed with breast cancer - I had a lump that was 7cm wide. But after I saw this healer I went back to my doctor and he couldn't find the cancer," one woman said. "He said that the lump had gone down to just 7mm and was no longer malignant." Another woman has similar claims about her brain tumour. "I went for an operation and although they took out a piece of the tumour, they could not remove all of it. But since I went to this man, 60% of the tumour has now gone," she said. A hepatitis sufferer told me she was so impressed with Father Mekki, she had been to see him more than 40 times and felt much better for it. Placebo effect But Dr Mohammed Mehdi Nafiaa from the Bab Khemis Hospital in Sale is wary of so-called miracle healers. People are free to see healers but they should not stop their treatment Dr Mohammed Mehdi Nafiaa "We cannot say he's miraculous. He is a healer like many others before him. In most cases they fail. It's a question of time," he says. Their claims pose problems for the medical profession, he says, as many healers tell patients to stop taking their medicine. "It's very dangerous: a while ago there was an epileptic patient who had taken drugs to stabilise himself. Another healer told him to stop his treatment; he did, but after several days he died." He admits that the placebo effect can be a powerful healing tool, but must work alongside conventional medicine. "People are free to see healers but they should not stop their treatment." According to Islamic scholars only the prophets - ending with Mohammad - had miraculous powers; other healers are therefore considered false prophets. Yet the man from Skhirat says he can cure the sick. And his popularity shows that while Morocco is pursuing a path to development and modernity, the power of superstition cannot be underestimated. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6335341.stm
