A/Calaykum Jizaaka Allah khayr, Our Sheikh, Nur. May Allah SWT reward you for your wonderful work. Indeed, sight is a precious gift. The story reminds me of a story of a hadeeth. A man was worshiping Allah for 500 yrs alone, never disobedient. When he died, Allah SWT said to the angels, "Let him in to paradise because of my rahmah (mercy)". The man said, "Ah, ah, NO! Not because of your mercy yaa Allah, but because of my camal (good deeds)". Allah being Caadil (fair), he said to the angels, "then, take account of his good deeds". They started with the gift of vision, and that alone was worth 500 yrs of worship without disobedience to Allah....The man said, yaa Allah, now I will go to paradise because of Your mercy! So, the gift of sight is a nicmah! Alxamduli-Laah.

A/Calaykum....^Walaalo, waa kulushehee, glass Isbaramuunto eh ku dhufo (preferably, straight from the fridge)....laga yaabo inaad ku dagtee! And I said: "Unless, of course it was personal and vulgar!". W/salaam.

A/Calaykum... In a hindsight, I shouldn't have generalised all of our beautiful sisters. I meant, the few spoiled prats. Happy that I have made that distinction. Btw, why is it ok to insult the guys, in the case of FF ("the lazy, qaat-chewing, shiisha smoking, internet-cafe sitting, welfare taking, irresponsible, and immature, Somali men"), and when the women are picked on, the admin is so itchy all of a sudden? Unless, of course it was personal and vulgar! No offence taken, it only words on screen, words on screen!
-
A/Calaykum. No: Actually, he happens to be an excellent example for the lazy, qaat-chewing, shiisha smoking, internet-cafe sitting, welfare taking, irresponsible, and immature, Somali men. How?

A/Calaykum Yaa Sheekhanaa, Sheekh Nuuriye...Allah kheyr aan la xisaabi karin hakaa siiyo shaqadaada. I will go for 3,6 and 8. JizaakAllahu kheyran.

A/calaykum... This Asian dude who is now the richest guy in the British shores and apparently happens to be the third richest fella in the world has coughed up 30million pound sterling for his daugher's wedding in Paris which included a private Kylie Minogue gig and punch of Ballo-wood performers/stars. Damn it, he has raised the damn par up. That is gotta be excessive to the extreme even from a skinny somali point of view, right? He is worth 14bn pound only, though! This fella is a bad example for the already spoiled somali women, isn't it, fellas?

A/Calaykum... I am....there is a word that i am looking for to describe how de-fragmented and exploded my mind is with the heavy ideas and argument of these mortals....searching......not found. Now, will you (novice philosophy enthusiasts) stop making this hut (buul) un-liveable for the rest of us who don't give a monkey about falsafad (this falsified notion(s)).....That is of course a polite request. No, that is an order, hear that an order! Now, will i be allowed to spoil this at times interesting and others hot-chilli discussion? Ah, what the heck, I'll plunge in head first. What Monsieur Mutakallim started with was fine in that it suggested tht it is tough to swim against the tide, but easy to do the opposite (words of a Sheik i once listened to), but ....at this point my brain lost its power.... it is preparing to standby.....still standby... Back on track, Mutakallim, I say this, if you can't see reasoning and logic in the Quran which Allah SW continuously challenges humanity to think and ponder and look for it elsewhere such as in kuffars (like Aristotle, Socrates etc), you are deluded. I will forever die with the stance that Ms Word has taken...Allah wa Rasool: Rasool-u-Laah said: Laaluhaa ka nahaarihaa...roughly its night its like its day...from point of clarity. And this can be proven thru reason, but that reasoning requires hidaayah and submission...those are the keys. Enough said, and i would like to conclude by saying somebody BRING THIS PHILOSOPHY BULLSHIT to a halt before i draw my pistol and leave some damage here....ah? Illaahay wadada xaqa ah ee toosan ha nagu hanuuniyo...aamiin. ps, I unreservedly apologise to anyone that my words hurt their feelings in anyway, if ever they do. Jizzaakumu-Laahu kheyran. W/salaam.

A/Calaykum. If you did not know about it, KNOW it now. It is all about Islam's colourful past, not what it is today and those who gave their lives' efforts and life itself. It is an amazing site with a wonderful design! It is a learning source, to say the least. Muslim heritage W/salaam

Emotional prostitution-- the path to moral oblivion
Dhagax-Tuur replied to Jamster's topic in General
A/calaykum Why is everyone taking on the wadaad and not seeing the point being made by the sheikh? Anyone could know about what goes on, and being a wadaad doesn't mean you have joined some 'gated community' that doesn't know what goes on out there. I hate when people view a wadaad as such. We could be wadaadis and be pretty much part and parcel of our society. Who is gonna kick-start a positive change in our society if wadaadis alienate themselves? He said, there are youth who conduct themselves in unIslamic matter and to back up his point he brought up some evidence to show the brother. What so tough to understand about that? The bottom line is, the wadaad is communicating dawah to us lot, and we shouldn't be judging him, we should be taking it for its face value. Besides, he didn't say that all people @SOL are doing wrong, it is some of us. Who knows, that could be Br.Nur in disguise. He is one of the people here and good in Islamic knowledge, I am not saying he was though! May Allah make us those who listen and take the best of it with them! W/salaam -
A/Calaykum. Abaayo, does you mother own kal iyo mooy? Preferably mid bir ah? If not a neighbour will have it for sure. Just say u need it to hammer something, not some1 mind u... ...Aaaaah! Cadow waaxid! Illaahay igama dhigo kii jaceyl kuu qabto. Habeen walba anigoo dhafooro dilaacsan baa cusbitaal la iila carari lahaa, all 'cos of love of you! I agree with Quantum Leap. Why would anyone jettison their dirties on us, the poor Net surfers? If it so serious, and has no 'look-at-me, I-am-hot, Faarax's-can't-help-themselves' effect', it should have been a matter for the authorities or family. Besides, a guy has either of two intentions with a girl, and whichever one that rings to your tone, you should dance with it or abandon the whole sorry saga. Simple in plain anglais. No need to burden us with more info than we can handle, we are already info-overloaded! ps, I'm sorry if i am plain speaking, and raising me tone with the lady, that is the way i am...i like to hit the heart of matters. No ihii or ahaa with me. enuff said.

A/calaykum Maasha Allah, that was beautiful. Vivid description of Jihad in the days of the prophet SCW and his companions. Sister/brother, Allah gave you a power to put words in graphical format to the readers' minds. Keep them coming, they are appreciated and loved.

Unhappy masses and the challenge...., by Prof. Said
Dhagax-Tuur replied to NASSIR's topic in Politics
A/calaykum. thanks to Bin Laden and Co., the ghost of political Islam has lately drawn academic attention to my professional interests and, in doing so, has turned out to be my premiere meal ticket, a manna from heaven to ensure earthly prosperity. ...Basically, some muslims suffer in Tora-Bora with the B-52 bombarding them, whilst others make meal out of their Muslim background and a bit of knowledge, that meal coming from the 'enemies of Islam' in the name of analyst on Islamic fundamentalism The once-neglected villages of Somalia are, as we speak, crawling with CIA agents, looking for the elusive specter of Bin Laden hideouts, presumably in the bushes and in the grazing grounds of camel herds. ...These guys, then, must be the Geel-Jire themselves, cos I did not hear anyone mentioning the presence of Gaal-Daba-Cadde in our villages. But the Somalis defy the laws of political science. ...Yeah, nothing defines Somali. We're unique in our own sort of way...Pfffff! “my uterine brother and I against my half brother, my brother and I against my father, my father's household against my uncle's household, our two households (my father's and uncle's) against the rest of the immediate kin, the immediate kin against non-immediate members of my clan, my clan against other clans and, finally, my nation and I against the world! In lineage segmentation one, literally, does not have a permanent enemy or a permanent friend–not even a permanent Muslim friend–but only a permanent attention to the availability of self-improving opportunities. ...This is an amazing description of 'lineage segmentation' and definitely is true to the somali case, apart from the PERMANENT MUSLIM FRIEND bit. Islam and how you view and act upon it is individual. experience seems to show the Somalis as utterly lacking the notion, basic to human decency, of fixed loyalty--loyalty to anything high or low, sacred or secular, and that, on the contrary, the principle of greedy, galloping personal gain tends to over-ride all else among us Somalis. ...That is an insult to Somalis. He is brushing all Somalis with the same colour. There is a bit of truth, but not entirely. Segmentation, in other words, is a social system that results in, and sanctions, institutional instability as a cultural norm. Thus it may be stated as a general rule, without hesitation or heart-searching, that instability as a way of life informs the Somali world! ...Don't despair, Sheik, we can do better. Stability is not our cultural norm, and we will overcome. This is only a period of time. No Somali, for example, will ever blow himself up for the cause of al-Islam. ...That is, totally and utterly, untrue. We've Somali Mujaahideen who have given their lives to the Jihad against the Ethiopian oppression of early 90's and still goes on. Many accounts of Mujahideen undertaking daring and suicidal missions have been published in different literatures. You don't have to die or commit an act that will result almost one's death in Middle East or Afghanistan to be recognised a Shaheed for Islam. Italians, please, do come and re-colonize us again. ...No, we don't need their Kuffar, Thank you. Inexplicably, the desperate pleas of God's soldiers for divine intervention in the face of Abdullahi's fury was completely ignored by the Almighty who indifferently looked the other way as the self-styled holy men were systematically obliterated. ...Is he playing Gaalo jokes on these events. Allah never turns away from His soldiers. But events occur for a reason. Remember, Uxud battle, where Muhammad (SCW) and his Sahabah was defeated, did Allah turn away from them, I don't think so! Everything has a reason, sir. So, you've shyed away from giving the whole story and the reason for the defeat. He journeyed to Ras Kamboni and found there a single one-eyed mullah and three Bantu followers! Some stronghold! ...That tells us more than the fact that there are what kuffars call 'extremist' in Somalia. It tells us about their intentions in taking over this Ummah and reducing it to nothing. Those in Capitol Hill and Pentagon are looking for easiest alibi to hit and undermine this Ummah in every possible way. obviously because Muslim women have never had a say about the interpretation of the Qur'an. ...What is he saying? That Islam oppresses women? Shame on you! And you call yourself a muslim? Women have the best position and dignity in Islam than any other system in this world, pre or post Islam. A simple example, Latino ladies of US are increasingly converting to Islam, and when asked the reason for their conversion, the answer was: Islam dignifies us, women. Wake up and smell the coffee, sir. nowhere do you find the imposition of veils on women in the early Muslim community. ...Wallaahi, that is exactly what I read the christian media of the west claiming the Hijaab to be. They are taking the Hijaab from Islamic teaching. This has come to light here in the UK with the recent case of the Muslim girl's court ruling to wear the Hijaab in her school. Shame on you, again! I don't have no time for this. The article is a mixture of truth and cocked-up lies. Overall, interesting read. W/salaam. -

A/calaykum. This was an amazing article throughout. In-depth, funny at times, and informing at different levels. I'll get back to this. I have laughed few things he mentioned, and have something to say, but no time. Will surely get back... W/salaam. -
You Are Invited To A Party, Confirm Here For Directions.
Dhagax-Tuur replied to Br. Nur's topic in General
A/calaykum Yaa Nur, I never get tired or lack great expectations from your posts. I knew that your invitation was leading to somewhere wonderful, and I swear I had Jannah and Rahma of Allah in mind whilst you were teasing the curious minds of the Nomads. Bro, you have all the signs of a good Daaci (conveyer of the word of Allah). In fact, you are one @Nomad site. Jizaaka Allah kheyran once more. But hold on, shouldn't the invitation have 'conditions'? Shouldn't there be merits or actions that would qualify one to attend this party, this great party? Nur will definitely enlighten us about these issues, I am sure. He knows what i have in mind, ain't I right, Nur? W/salaam. -
A/calaykum Nur, you are enlightening as usual. Jizaak Allah khayran. Takbiir...........Allahu Akbar Takbiir...........Allahu Akbar Takbiir...........Allahu Akbar. W/salaam

A/calaykum. Subxaanallah, what is this woman expecting? That the rules of Islam be bended for her own will? Allahu Akbar. I sometimes wonder if some so-called muslims take lessons from Shaydaan as their behaviour has nothing to do whatsoever with the Quran or Sunnah. Instead of embrassing herself and her Deen, she could have approached a muslim 'Alim and converse the situation with him to get the position of Islam and she would be satisfied if she is bound by the rules of the Quran and Sunnah. Instead, Acuudu-billaah, she chose to publicise a pathetic issue. My thinking is that she is only feeding the widely held notion in the west that Islam degrades women, which of course is baseless. May Allah show her the right way of doing things. W/salaam.

A/calaykum. I hate the use of the term 'inequality'. If Allah sets something for us in Quran or elsewhere, we have to accept it. That is what Islam is all about: Submission. [not in this particular case, but that is the beef that i've with the word] Besides, as others said, Islam is pure and just. People are humans and will always have biased views on affairs. It happens everywhere. What would you say about the thousands of females workers in the UK who have been sacked for becoming pregnant? Isn't unfairness to women? And some of the very bosses who have sacked them were females! Accept it and move on, if you can't change the views of the society fundamentally. W/salaam.

A/calaykum. The guys (new TNG) need a serious PR Gurus and spin-doctors! They should seriously consider employing and listening to some West [seriously] educated somalis in their rank to sweet talk the public. Presentation is everything! I'm not a pessimist, but I am sure that there is no substance in this group, same as prev groups, and I put my hopes of peace in somalia on hold, for now. W/salaam.

A/calaykum. Alla-u-baahane and Nur are good names, but all the asmaa-u-llaahil-xusnaa will do it for me. They are all pleasing to the mind and soul and none of them is lesser in magnitude and significance than the other. Abdu-Allah, AbduRahman, Abdul-Qahaar, Abdu-Wali etc. Pity no one uses them here, or at least I didn't see. I still have this image in my head of how Nur and his work suit each other. A man named Light, Enlightens [tries to] others. Maansha Allah. .... "Nuur-un calaa Nur.... " w/salaam.

A/calaykum. I guess the answer would be an empatic YES! Not out of fear or hate, but because we loathe the act and it has been forbidden by Allah SWT. I concur with Bro.Viking. However, if, at all possible, and you are sure of yourself [have good faith and ideas from her might not boggle your mind], then by all means give her some da'wa. If not possible, end the frienship/relationship. Maahmaah soomaalieed bay waxay tiraa, "Dariskaa caddaan iyo madow waxaan ahaynba waa ku/kaa geliyaa/dhigaa". w/calaykum.

A/calaykum. Overall, an interesting article. Meles Zenawi, the man who makes all the decisions that matter in Ethiopia, has studied medicine before joining the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF ) in 1974. Dropped out of Med School and attended M.A for Biz studies. [a little correction] This dark force will be able to appeal to powerful imperatives of tribal honor, Jihad and Somali nationalism all at the same time. What does it mean? Is he for or against an Islamic organisation present in the Somali political arena? I don't like the tone and use of word.

Apparently, more Latino women are becoming muslims just because Islam and "muslim men" treat women better than their Kuffaar counterparts. There is culture and there is Islam....many either lack or deliberately miss the difference. I believe muslim land's women are treated better than the 'civilised' west's. The article's points are based on ignorance, and minority ignorant section of society doesn't speak for all and does not represent all. P.S. I didn't finish reading it, but heard few that are similar to it.
