  1. Suggest that Muslims through out the world stop going to Hajj for one year and completely donate what it costs from anywhere to charity and help Muslims everywhere? If you base it an average of $3500 per person and average attendance of 3.5 million, you would raise $10.5billion. Crazy?
  2. ^exactly, my sentiments. This is injustice and broad daylight robbery, and should be put right ASAP for the sake of Somali unity. We have had enough of village mentality. I still believe we can live together peacefully, only if we're willing to nap the sh!t-merchants, i.e, qabiilists.
  3. You know the sh!t that is unacceptable, it's the annoying fact that the man this humiliated is a colonel in the so-called Somali army. News that i am hearing, and he claimed was that his women was beaten up badly. The other point which makes things really effed up is that the other party is closely related to the President himself! That is what I am hearing. If that's true, this is the beginning of the end. Somalia will go back to square one. We shall wait and see.
  4. As. Very delighted for the young couple. The young bride's attire has less to be desired of, and marrying at the heart of Somali land, one would have expected youngsters to respect deen and cultural values. It just goes to show the powerful stranglehold Western mono culture has got on the rest of the world. It was heartwarming to see a recent wedding of Turkish couple who shared their wedding buffet/day with their displaced Syrian brothers and sisters. Imagine the need for that sort of gesture in Mogadishu, it would have been something for others to emulate. May Allah give them khair in their future.
  5. Let me try and make it clearer. Ethiopia our neighbour and really once a foe of ours - it is debatable and down to one's political prospective how one sees Ethiopia today - is adding to her economy the same value of that of the country of Iceland every year. That is according to BBC documentary about Ethiopia available on the bbc radio player. To put that in prospective, the current GDP (if you can call that ) is estimated at about just over 100m USD. Ethiopia's estimated GDP for 2015 is 154b USD. Let's weep, we deserve it! I doubt we will ever catch up, unless of course things go badly wrong.
  6. This is fear mongering in a grand scale. I am sure that we, somalis, have started movements, mainly religious, who were campaigning for the eradication of this practice. That is not to say that the practice doesn't occur at all. But, I can't stand this Western crusade on culturally duped and ill educated folks who would be better off educated and informed rather than threatened. This is now in-your-face every newspaper in London. They'are desperately trying to persecute the 'first' parent/family for this, with the help of fame-hungry xalimos used as token. Gabadha yarta ahi has every right to be worried, but as her mother said to her, 'there's no reason to worry as no one would force her against her will.' I wouldn't want this for anyone, least of all, my close family, but let's educate, specially, from the point of view of Islam, as this is un-islamic, pure and simple. We'll get somewhere with that, rather than threatening these folks.
  7. Does Mr Faroole deserve such a welcome? What has he really done, that is tangible for the people and the land? We should be judging our leaders by the visible progress they have made rather than which clan they belong to and which city they turn up! This man, I don't think, is conducive to the stability of Puntland, as a region or the overall cohesion of Puntland society. It seems that people like him cannot retire in peace, and shun the limelight once their time is up. Puntland needs to look to the future and shouldn't be reminiscing.
  8. If the above text is in anyway true, there are two points that one can deduce from it. 1. Waxay Silanyo and co. ka haleeyeen the 'int'l community' weynan badanaa [joking]! Or it could be that the idea of standing on as an independent state has hit the buffers, and these steps are taken to force the junta [no insult intended] to sniff the coffee. 2. Dawladda Xamar has gotten sophisticated and honed their diplomatic skills to the point where they're literally force-feeding 'midnimo' down Silanyo and co.'s throat. If this is the case, I believe Xamar is pumping iron and flexing those muscles. As an unashamed 'unionist' who would like to see my Northern brothers and sisters stand by my side, I am elated. Dear brothers and sisters, come in from the cold, ileen gacma wax wada jir bey ku gooyaane, ogowna nin walaalkii ka tagey, ninkii walaalkii wata baa madaxa ka garaacee!
  9. MMA, when it comes to somali psyche, you are asking the impossible, really, namely to see things or describe them objectively. We all know nothing is perfect, far from it, but the reality is, early days of the 'dawladii kacaanku' was what one could describe as the 'best' in the recent somali history in progressiveness and effort to unite Somalis on the basis of their ability rather than which tribe they belong to. Things have definitely taken a turn for the worse in later years. Allow sahal amuur.
  10. This might be music to your ears, but I know think they (Gedo people) should have formed alliance with Puntland, rather than people of Galmudug, really.
  11. Gunning for 2016, are we? How about the country and people, YOU-KNOW-WHO!?
  12. I like the fact that Mr new chinese citizen shunned life in Europe/West for working and making his way in life. Well done!
  13. And the dubious source of the article is catholic.org?? Societies can indeed nudged to one direction or another, but this takes the beeswax, if you would pardon my french. Somali men might be in difficulty, to put it lightly, at this point in their history, but they're not out of the picture as this useless piece of so called report calls it. An insult, indeed.
  14. Tribalism is now wearing state (regional) uniforms. All you do is just scratch the bloody surface, and there, it emerges. I would a group of people that might have diverse tribal lineages than a so called tribal state run the nation. However, the group needs to overhaul itself and show that there is more to them than meets the eye to truly win the hearts of the majority of Somalis, if we are ever to move forward from this quagmire. Or am I dreaming?
  15. Not sure about the poster's basis for his statement or the truthfulness of it, but nowadays it is the default option for all these tribal fiefdoms whenever they have the slightest disagreement with the federal gov't. Example of that is the so called admin of Juba. It seems that no one seems the bigger picture. Village mentality seems to be the prevailing order of the day/times. These administrations don't seem to grasp that their fate lies with their fellow Somalis, rather not the time-restricted and interest driven African forces in the country. Rather than default to 'I will have nothing to do with federal gov't' and 'I have my African backers looking after me' mentality, why not exhaust every avenue with the Somali Federal gov't, after all, your future is tied together for eternity, whether you like it or not. And the sad reality is, as I carry on with my endless diatribe, these fiefdoms are usually in the wrong when they resort to this sort of behavior, because they want to eat (misappropriate) bigger piece of the pie, and such don't want to be told so or encouraged to share a bit. Greedy bastards!
  16. Nin Yaaban, abortion is not even in consideration. We're talking about family planning in Islamic fashion. Isn't it time given our situation. Isfamily planning haraam? I doubt it even though I can't back it up theologically. I doubt that.
  17. Do we need more destitute people? Do we want to remain in a cycle of poverty? We humans manage everything else, why can't we manage our people when we can barely afford to keep the living ones alive? How can we educate our people to have the number of kids one can feed, cloth and educate? Without sounding western, arrogant etc? I welcome insults, constructive criticism and all good ideas. P.s. I know it's not a new idea, but hasn't the time come!
  18. Regarding this topic, I will present an exhibition A: Kacaankii between 69 to 80 or before that. Take your pick. I know I am going to get verbally stoned for this, but politics aside, the stuff they have done was almost unprecedented in theAfrican continent. An example, writing the Somali script and not onky write it but getting people to learn to read and write. Point is, a socalledliberal democracy wouldn't achieve this in sub saharan Africa ir elsewhere in the developing world. We need an irin fisted, visionary leadership for that to work. Not Authoritarianism for the sake of it.
  19. You have lost few so called liberties, and in exchange you have got security and bread for all. What's the matter with little discomfort, eh? A case in point is the difference between India and China. China is authoritarian, but things get done. India is socalled democracy, almost nothing gets done. The difference between the countries is like day and night.
  20. Ethiopians number between 80 - 90 million. The boom in the last 20yrs alone isn't going to be enough to economically lift them outra poverty and stay home. Given the trajectory, I am surthat they're on way. It's a stupid fallacy to apply western ideals to developing communities. These communities need honest leadership that might intervene in their personal everyday for a better tomorrow.
  21. It's a simple choice. Authoritarian rulewith economic development or the so called liberal democracy and hunger. I would choose the former. Economic development come with good educationalachievement and better health coupled with good infrastructure. The generation that benefit from this willpeacefully change the system of governance to the rule of the people. Follow Mr Lee's footsteps and Ethiopia will get there.
  22. ^The best piece of good news I have heard from you for a while. It's heartwarming to hear 'Somali baa dhisatay iyadoon cid kale gacan weydiisan'. Hopefully it will be the sign of things to come, Insha Allah.
  23. What about Goboladda dhexe? Where is their hub? As long as we're doing business as usual, thisfictional face lift won't do it. We Somalis need a proper dib u heshiisiin. Good, honest administrative structure, based on merit etc.
  24. I think Mohamed Farah would be a Somali hero inevery sense of the word, if he produces the next generation Somali international athlete running on Somali ticket on international arena and hopefully successful. Just like G Weah did with Liberian football team in the 90's.
