  2. I tend to enjoy a healthy constructive debate when I see one. This is one of those moments when I sit back with my cup of coffee and read both sides of the argument.Baashi and Northern both are doing a helluva job articulating their points of course till someone comes along to disrupt that intellectual flow.Xassan whatever his name is one such person who can't seem to sit back and read arguments of a higher calibre, instead he has to resort to name calling and branding people zealots and traitors tho I hardly think he understands what these two words mean in their literall sense. Please people if you have nuthing intelligent to say please keep it to yourself, like Somalis say Af Daboolan Waa Dahab Mahad Saniid
  3. Give me an S , a P ,a U and R.......What does it say.......SPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURS Way it go Duncan thats what we wanna see.Sink the mighty Lakers and send Phil into retirement. Hope it ends this way.I just wanna see Jack Nicholson's face when the Lakers lose to the Spurs.I am fedup of seeing his raggedy ole a$$ by the sidelines every year.

  6. HornAfrique Do you not speak enough English to comprehend a simple article. Here are some of your thoughts regarding the article that you need to look more closely at. Quote quote: Silanyo's Kulmiye Party emerged as the clear winner in Hargeisa. Silanyo thus has good reasons to ask: what if? His party spoke of legally testing the outcome of the election, saying there were problems with the count. Since Kaahin was elected "president" this quote implies that the voting was a hoax. Which is contradictory to what "Somaliland" is selling to the world of free and fair elections. I think they are just trying to say here that Silaanyo will be contesting the result through peaceful means..."Legally testing" being the keyword here. And another quote from HornAfrique quote: Despite their straitened circumstances the men of this country spend $600 000 a day buying the qat from neighbouring Ethiopia. They spend most afternoons chewing on the leaves to get the appetite suppressing and alertness enhancing affects of the amphetamine they contain. Donor countries might complain about the squandering of their aid on this mild drug - if there were donor countries. Here the author seems to imply that Somaliland is not receieving any aid from the donor nations in the West and what ever they have achieved is through internal means.Period. I honestly think that whenever you see the name Somaliland you rush to conclusions and in your haste to reply you sometimes forget what the person is alluding to. As regards to developments that are positive in nature affecting any Somali any where in this world I will extol them and hold them in highest regards. The irony of all this is that you go out of your way to portray yourself as a diehard nationalist but your daily display of negativity towards Somaliland and its achievements show the opposite . Lastly a word of advice that I have learned over the years and found unvaluable dealing with people Concentrate on a person's positive side to gain support for what you believe in. and make sure you commend them on that, not jump the gun and criticise. Gracias
  7. HornAfrique I am a bit confused walaahi,I mean what is the purpose of your article following mine.My article talks of development and people moving forward with their lifes. The whole purpose of my article was to enlighten this honoured forum on all the positive things that the people of Somaliland have achieved in so short a time.I also wanted to show this young forum that even though they hear of so much negativity when it comes to Somalis all is not lost and somewhere someplace where Somalis live, people still endure and survive honourably.I wanted them to feel that all is well in a land where Somalis inhabit and the people there continue to preserve the dignity of Somalis and uphold their name. That was my whole motive, what's your's???????
  8. Here 's an interesting article. Hope in the Horn of Africa
  9. First and Foremost Rakim Where is Somalia?????????
  10. Scorpion Sister & Baashi I know in terms of personal gains most if not all in here would concur that they are better off, but I was looking in terms of the larger populace in the diaspora. You both mentioned education as an area where we are better off, now that makes me wanna ask you What % of Somalis living in the diaspora would you think go to school or have businesses? Matkey That was the area that I was most concerned about.Morally Somalis especially the youth have changed tremendously, they have become too Westernised to the point where they talk, think and act like the "locals".To some that might be seen as development but I think thats the worst thing that could happen to us after the war.Having a generation of Somalis who don't know right from wrong is indeeed a sad story. Raaliyah, Buzhfamily & Ex Dane I fully agree with yall.We are simply better off back home. Tagane I asked myself this question a lot.Maybe you can help....You know how in the west they mix remains of dead animals with the animal feed to increase the size and milk production of animals, well I ask myself if a person eats meat here in ths US,isn't that eating Haram.
  11. Diideg...Sounds ok I guess but makes no sense.
  12. Prior to the civil war in Somalia, there were only a small number of Somalis living abroad of which at least 90% of those were in the Gulf region,12 years later the largest diaspora are in North America. To add to that the diaspora we had were predominately male expatriates working abroad but with wife and kids back home.Having travelled extensively throughout North America, seen the transformations that Qurbe has had on our culture I have asked myself the question above but I could never quite say whether we are better off than when we're back home. Please let me know how yall feel about this. Gracias
  13. Hilarious ,keep them coming Che
  14. RAT 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996 People born in the Year of the Rat are noted for their charm and attraction for the opposite sex. They work hard to achieve their goals, acquire possessions, and are likely to be perfectionists. They are basically thrifty with money. Rat people are easily angered and love to gossip. Their ambitions are big, and they are usually very successful. They are most compatible with people born in the years of the Dragon, Monkey, and Ox. Thats me and a whole lotta of other things these chinks have forgotten to mention

Nafisa Like Charles Barkley said "I might be wrong but I doubt it."
  16. Xassan Nasra & bari Nomad You both seem to base your arguments on the "1998" meeting but may I add here that the same number of people from these regions have all participated in the Burco meeting of 1991,Boorame meeting of 1993, Hargeysa meeting of 1997.Markaas does participation in a mere meeting mean you have become part of a region, the answer is NO.We have people like countless number of people from these regions who are active members of the Somaliland government just as Ina Yusuf has, markaas where do we draw the line, where do we say that these people represent or are you all saying that one is a lightweight the other a heavyweight when it comes that region.Mise you will say the ministers in the Somaliland government do not represent Sool or East Sanaag whereas Hasharo and Haabsade do.Come on guys I am sure you can both come up with a more credible argument than the "1998" meeting.
  17. Xassan LOL....Its funny how you try evading the question by asking me a question where an answer is due.Somaliland has never been known to be aggressor,we have settled our disputes among ourselves and with others in a civilised manner and will continue to do that in the future. You want Sanaag, then I will give you all the areas that the vote did not take place in the presidential election but there is a big BUT here, you have to let these people vote without fear and coercion as to where they want to be part of. Will you and your leaders be willing to see that happen or take that risk. Xaalku waa Maya because the very idea of people making their choice does not appeal to Ina Yusuf. He believes differently and will not allow anything else.On top that people are smarter than you think, they know Ina Yusuf only claim to this area is to use that as a bargaining chip in his quest for the presidency of Somalia.Markaas saaxiib been yaan leysku sheegin.
  18. Xassan,Bari Nomad I think we are now getting somewhere on this issue. We in Somaliland all along believed the best way to approach this issue is through peaceful means.Unlike the administration in Puntland whose very aim is to suppress the wishes of the people. We are willing to consider and respect the wishes of the people of Las Qoray,Badhan,Hadaftimo in Sanaag and Las Anod in Sool.Whatever they decide we will respect. But the burning question is will Abdilaahi Yusuf who we all know do the same if these people decide they want to be part of Somaliland. Will Abdillahi Yusuf and his militia be willing to hold a referandum to determine who they wish to be part of.Will you guys be willing to even consider seeing these regions say YES to Somaliland and NO to Puntland. Would you be willing to settle this issue in a civilized manner. If your answer is yes then lets hold a referandum.PERDIOD
  19. Lazyie Remember l2 years back when AI blew away the lakers.Well Last night was one of those nights.Wolves has one good game. Will they have another 3 good ones.Hard to say but lets all hope for it.
  20. Hadal si loo yidhi sina loo fahan I condemn killings of any civilian whether its in the hands of Siad Barre or otherwise.I think its a cowardly act and who so ever has perpetrated those crimes should be punished for those crimes.Having made that clear,Somaliland seceded for a whole host of reasons but most of you seem to concentrate on one aspect of that.I don't know if any of you have heard of the coup of 1961 barely a year after the union when a group of Sandhurst educated officers led by Hassan Keyd tried to overthrow the government and their intentions was to reclaim the independence of Somaliland. They were tried and later released I don't know when but that was the beginning of our aspirations to regain what we cheaply lost in 1960.The war of 1988 literally sealed that fate. Now you all must ask yourself meel aan ku rabaan miyaad isku qasbi kartaa and the answer is NO.Markaas I strongly suggest that you all should move forward. The very first place that the blue star flag flew over was Beerta Xorriyada, in Hargeysa and all the songs of jubilation were sang there and then but we have decided to disown what ever it stands for, instead we came up a new flag that truly symbolises the struggle we went through and the prosperity we intend to accomplish.Where the blue first flew, in its place we have one that stands for the ideals we believe.
  21. HornAfrique I understand but walaahi I have seen a lot of people who wish to see no peace in Somaliland just because there is war in the South.I keep trying to make them understand this will be to no one's advantage. The one thing I would love to see is peace all over Somalia,in Puntland Baydhabo and every where there are Somalis.
  22. Nin Tiisa Daryeela Ayaa Tu Kale Ku Dara How many more times do yall need to hear that before it sinks in.Anigu waan xishoon lahaaba haddi leygu celcelin lahaa intaas.
