  2. Bachelor & Mobb Past or present Somali national teams are more used to losing than winning, with government or no government.I haven't heard of a Somali team winning anything..As a kid my dad took me to one of the East and Central Africa cups in Nairobi and the Somalis were there alright but at the very bottom of the standings.I'm just surprised that this coach makes it sound like Somali national teams used to win in the past.

So were members of the NUF (which coincidently no one seems to remember) who rigorously campaigned for the independence of British Somaliland and who later joined (quite willing if I may add) to the United Somalia. Aamina, walaashiis saa mooday ma'aha xaalada. While NUF {I don't know if this being the correct name} campaigned the freedom of British Soomaaliland, SYL was not limited to one region. While there were a lot of parties that represented clan-based regions in the south, SYL was not. True to their word, SYL was the only party that dreamed the creation of Soomaali Weyn; and it thus became effective, and had secret offices almost in all Soomaali lands, including British Soomaaliland, Soomaali Galbeed, Italian Soomaaliland; it even reached French Soomaaliland. It was this reason SYL got popular with Soomaalis, regardless of clan division. By the way, SYL got on its feet while the British were almost occupying the entire Soomaali lands, only Jabuuti was the exception at that time, because the Italians were defeated in W-W-II, including to lose the power-base of southern part and Soomaali Galbeed which they controlled to British army. Unlike their Italian counterpart, British tolerated and gave a limited power to locals; this had given rise to the creation of SYL. SYL might have been created while Talyaani was still in control, but it wasn't that visible and fletched. The independence of Somaliland was something that was decided later by the people of Sland and not the SNM for several reasons... one of the being the instability of the rest of Somalia at the time that it was formed. The volatility of Soomaaliya was not the main motive behind the secession of Somaliland in 1991. Soomaaliland was created, not on the instability of the rest of Soomaaliya, but as a result of their pure dissatisfaction with the very first conference held in Jabuuti back in early 1991. That quick-fix scheme conference was what brought overall explosive nature Soomaaliya state is found right now; first because it was a quick-way out, quick-solution conference, ignoring the facts of conflict. It was wrongly miscalculated, most delegates being members of Manifesto * group, electing one among them as president, Cali Mahdi Maxamed. And indeed, certain clans were shunned, among them Siyaad Barre’s clan. In that conference, Soomaaliland {led by ambitious, power-hungry individuals} wanted a greater share of power, including two equal powerful federal state regions, mainly consisting Soomaaliya and Soomaaliland, which was wholly rejected by the delegates. One reason being if Soomaaliya opted to have federal system, each region should get equal representatives, which the delegates of Soomaaliland did not like. _______________ * Manifesto consisted powerful individuals displeased with the culminative actions taken by Siyaad Barre's regime and signed a declaration with each person's name on; it was in late '89 and early '90. In the communiqué was that Maxamed Siyaad Barre must resign immediately and safe the Soomaali nation on the brink of civil explosion. Aw Siyaad's response?? To arrest all of them who confirmed their signatures immediately. But some feared and didn't aknowledge their signatures, among in this group was the late Raajis Maxamed Raajis and Cali Mahdi Maxamed, whom were both have been accorded to have said when the feared NSS came to them, "Aah, we never signed this proclamation. Where did you get it from?" Untrue to their hearts. ________________ Soon Wanaagsan. MMA I wonder where you get your history from, secret offices in Somaliland and all Somalilands.Uhmmmm never heard that that one before but let me tell you this SYL was an independence movement for Italian Somaliland ,the rest is a myth blown out proportion fabricated and published in Somali history after Somali was drafted in 1972 by the military government.I guessed it worked because we have people in here who actually live by it

As the accord between Barre and Mengistu draw near, SNM made its ultimate and tragic mistake by marching through villages inhabited by non-SNM affiliated clans. On its bath, it left a blood trail. Baashi saaxiib I have too much respect for you to not correct you here.SNM attcked Hargeysa and Burco and drove the Siad Barre goons out in 1988.They did not attack any other village South or North that was inhabited by its non SNM supporters. They left no blood bath and the Siad regime retaliated with everything it had in its aresenal. Not one single non SNM village was touched by the SNM.I just dont know where you got that info.
  6. Samiyah Now that you have elaborated on what you meant by romance,I fully agree with you.If a brother has these qualities mansha Allah if you lack them it aint to late to learn.Start off by making a hard copy of Samiyah's post and reading it twice a day till you have it memorized. After all what she has said are I believe the duty of every man.
  7. saaxiib history when distorted can lead a young mind astray. Sayfulaah is it wrong for me to ask if Siyaad Barre had not done what he did in the central and Somaliland regions Ethiopia would have had no influence today in Somali politics. If Siyaad barre and his goons had not poisoned the wells in Mudug or sent his thugs to rape and pillage the North there would have been no need for an uprising? Maybe there would have been no SNM or SSDF or USC for that matter.Maybe it was his government that was responsible for the condition that Somalis find themselves in that we have to blame. On another note of all the movements only one, yes only one the SNM I believe are celebrated by the people they fought for and the heroes of the SNM have streets named after them. As for greater Somalia ,that idea saxiib I believe is one we I think will not see in our lifetime.Period.Its as dead as the people who poisoned that noble idea.
  8. Jamal11 Your signature sidaan maqley waxaa tidhi islaan Virginia degaan.I first heard that in the winter of 2000 and it cracked me up then and it cracked me up now. Now on the subject of Somali romanticism, dont you think we should ask Samiyah to elaborate on the topic a lil bit further, expalin how she personally percieves romance, what we Somali men need to work on to be qualified as "ROMANTIC" men.I'm sure it would make an interesting read and be educating at the same time.......
  9. Welcome back Hibo. You only mentioned the problems you encountered while you were there, was there anything that made you smile other than being home among your people?

  16. Ayoub Saaxiib you're not the only one in here with similar feelings. If you noticed there's been a kind of lull in negative articles so far.Shows that the ceasefire is slowly but surely taking shape.I just hope no one steps on those raw nerves, while they heal,I know it takes a while to overdo nearly 2 decades of damage. Thanks laakin for giving it a chance. There's only a few members of either camp who have not yet come abroad. No need for names,I'm sure they know who I'm referring to and hopefully will do the right thing SOON or otherwise risk my wrath.... Lander Horey Somali u tidhi Geeljire geel wuu wada jiraa wuuna kala jiraa. In true nomadic life, one has to respect his/her neighbour for the survival of all nomads. There's no 2 masters to serve only one,the master of your choice but having a moderate view of events taking place does not necessarily mean you become a turncoat.
  17. I remember seeing Abdirahman when he was SNM rep in london and later as SNM foreign Sectratary. He was a man who said little but did a lot.He will be remembered for how he passed on the reins of power after the election of 1993 something uncharacteristic of an African politician.I wish him eternal peace and my deepest condolance to his family. Amiin

  21. Ayoub Curudka reerka maxaa ku dhacey Ayoub mise waanad maqlin Geeljiire geela wuu wada jiraa wuuna kala jiiraa. This train ride is an attempt on my part to bring to an end the endless bickering that goes on in here.I'm sure you will understand that adopting a more moderate view of events does not necassirily make one a sellout. All I'm saying is we all have to put our differences aside, what we could not achieve as individuals, what if we try to tackle it as a group. Have you ever heard of the old saying colka wadhaf malagu dhayey???

I just don't enjoy the fact that we are only viewed as the care-givers, never the care getters?? We are always told to things for others, and some of it comes naturally, but when is enough, enough. When will see the day that "Fathers stay at home to take care of their children." I think mothers deserve an standing ovation for a job well done, but it is time to share the job with the fathers, after all it does take two to tango. Does it not??? I had more than a standing ovation in mind when it comes to mothers but if you feel that's all you will need,I will be willing to do that every hour on the hour for the rest of my life.I sincerely think no person alive can ever truly express in words and deeds how grateful we are all, to our mothers. Ilaahey ha noo daayo Hooyo hadey nooshey haddey Akhri joogto Ilaahow janada meesha ugu fiicaan noo gee Having said that walaalo hikmad Ilaahey kuu siiyey ha iska qaadin.Dont beg for something you dont bargain for, being a mother and a care giver should be a source of strenght & blessing for all women and not a case for defamation as most feminsts would want you to believe. On the kaftan side tho ,I have absolutely no problem with my wife(INSHA ALLAH when I get married) being the bread winner. Its about time baan ku leeyahay. She will get the VIP treatment upon her return from work (feet rub, back rub and the works) but the bank account better be full year round and I dont have to beg for my kitchen aprons, they better be there in my choice of colors and designs otherwise expect all hell to break lose
