And the total bill will be around $25,000 Like DAMN! Im saying though...what if the man brought that money to the table and said, "hey baby, here is the money you wanted and you can play with it as you like BUT just a suggestion. How about we use the money to start our new family? Or we go to hajj and send one extra month in Medeenah, looking around and getting use to the Prophets city? And after that, we can travel around the world instead of throwing the money into one BIG night that most people will forget about in a two days or they'll have nothing good to say about it (thats ofcourse if your talking about the unIslamic weddings ) " If he proposed that, what would you say?

Oh mann, I cant believe I miss this whole debate. Where was I and what was I doing when this was going down? I guess I got to wait for the second round of exchanges to throw my two cents into the pot.

Allah wont change the situation of a group of people until they change (or make the efforts) to change that situation for themselves, is a very well known fact. In fact, its an ayaat in the Quran that most people know. Allah knows best if thats what she meant..maybe she can come back and clearify it for us with a "Yes, I meant that" or a "No, thats not what I really meant". Anyways sister Shaken, you make a really good point that most people often overlook. We tend to forget the importance of thanking people for whatever good they may have done for us. "Someone who is not thankful to the people is not thankful to Allah", do you remember this saying? Well you should There are three words and if a person learns to use them in their life, they develop a humble personality. And they're, "please, thank (you), sorry".

Wise choice. So the matter will be left alone inshAllah.

Ibti, Ive been right here the entire time but then again, maybe not BUT I promise not to drift away too far...so dont worry, you post and I will read it. So now..after thinking about it...I think I want an answer to the question but be prepared for a response from me if you dare take the challenge to answer such a tough question. So whats the worse that can actually happen? Ummm..divorce? Maybe. But what if both parties refuse to give into such a choice? Then what? Problems will always be there right? And if anyone of us thinks marriage is any different then reality will slap us in the face. That said, whats the worse that can happen? *walks away with semi-confidence and awaits a response*

Should you get married? Why not? Whats the worse that can happen? (Please dont answer that question )

My weekend was hectic. This passed weekend I mean. I know its like Wednesday but Ive just managed to recover and find the strength to share what I DID! I went to Ottawa. Then I went to Montreal and back to Toronto and once again, I headed back to Ottawa. Only to find myself making my way home a few days later. We rented a car and I drove over 4000KM in like 4 days. Man, thats the last time I do that... But Alhamdulilah..Im alive and I still got my deen.

So... Back to the topic at hand... How else can we improve our level of eman? Any other actions?
-
Let me jump right between the misunderstanding that is taking place or not taking place and just remind myself and you that we should do whatever we are capable of in order to help our brothers and sisters who are oppressed and are currently living under tough conditions. If that means, making the awareness of their situation known to the public, so be it. If a person can raise money, than let him/her do so. Regardless of what we are capable of as individuals, we should never abandon dou'aa even if we are capable of doing more but are too ignorant to fulfill such duties. Remember dou is like a powerful sword but sometimes such a powerful sword ends up in the hands of a weak soldier who can barely hold it to his neck. In order to use dou'aa as a weapon we must return to the basics of dou and place our trust in Allah. Even if what we request from Allah is never granted. So lets not make this about politics or label this under any other sub-title, but lets just try to do our part as individuals and inshAllah one day, perhaps even sooner than we think, we can come together as an Ummah and work together to return our status as believers of Allah to what it once was. We can change our situation from oppression to living life in prosperity but personally, I can never enter such a state of living until my brothers and sisters in Gaza are safe and at peace. O'Allah, forgive them and forgive us.

Good Question. Sometimes when Allah loves a group of people and wishes good for them He places them in a tough situation. Or maybe Allah means to purify them through these trails or Allah wishes to expose those of us who claim that we love and care for our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters but do nothing to give support to our claim. Eigher way, Allah's wisdom for placing the Palestinian people in the situation they currently find themselves in is no excuse for us to hold back on our dou'aas even if that may mean, no positive results for such a group of people since 1948.
-
One more thing, before I forget. PLEASE PLEASE...and some more PLEASE. Make dou'aa for the Muslims that are oppressed and ignored who are living in Gaza (and else where). The least we can do is make dou'aa.

Assalam to all.... Its seems like I started this thread some time ago and after a few comments, I ran from participating in it...Aint that a shame. Well, alhamdulilah Im back and I just wanted to state that is easy for us to list points and/or suggestions that can help to increase our eman but I just wanted to know, since we have a decent list at the moment, which points have you taken to become apart of your daily acts? I didnt want this thread to just be about "listing" rather I wanted it to be a way for us to help each other in bettering ourselves as people and servants to Allah. In saying that, a sister suggested earlier that fasting Mondays and Thursdays helps to increase eman (which is SO SO true), but has anyone decided to try this? If so, how is it going for you? Recently, I realized the importance of lowering the gaze. We've all heard the lactures on this topic and read the ayaats in Surah Nur and else where speaking about the importance of it, but what I've recently came to understanding is, if lowering the gaze is practiced, it helps to keep the heart pure and eman firm. But if its abandoned, the heart can turn ROCK solid and eman can escape the find another place of rest. It is that simple. Lower your gaze and hold firm to your eman. Otherwise, be prepared to fight Shaitan while you're in a state of disadvantage.

At the basketball gym, shooting jump shots until my arms become num. Or until its salah time and upon completing the prayer, my body becomes stiff and I look at the gym saying, "Yo, Im done bro...sorry but...Me cant shot no more..." Question: Tell me onething about yourself that you think we should know.

The day of Arafat. The six days that follow the end of ramadan. One week before the beginning of Ramadan when the hype around the blessed month becomes reality and the heart becomes filled with joy. And they're other days as well..but the best of nights is the night when Allah wakes me up and fills my soul with the desire of sleeping with my wife? No. But with praying when everyone around me is still sleeping. (By the way, Im not even married but yeah...you get my point) Question: Whats your favorite Surah in the Quran?

The picture you take before you lose your freedom. Question: What is love?

Originally posted by LayZie G.: I am very confident that mrs clinton will capture Virginia, maryland and District of Columbia tomorrow... Are you serious? Oh I get it, you meant that as a joke cause everybody knows, she wont do well in those states. In fact, Hillary's campaign already claimed in a public statement that Maryland, Washington,DC and Virginia favour Obama and they (Ms. Clinton's campaign) are looking forward to Texas and Ohio which are important states that are voting next month. The question is, will Hillary lay back and take one loss after another until next month? Well, I guess the answer is, she has no choice. That explains why she needed to demote her campaign manger and bring in another woman to lead them to victory.

Calgary, No. But I lived in Canada for the majority of my life and all is well over here...except for a few things. Question: I hear England is not a good place to visit, is that true?

About three minutes after I made the mistake. And on a bad day, it may even take up to 10 minutes to realize I made a mistake and try to learn from it. Question: A life of war and prosperity or a life of peace and oppression? Which would you perfer?

Two. *thinking twice* Yeah, like I said, only two. Question: How many siblings do you have?
-
Sure. Maybe. I dont know. Question: Do you watch CNN?
-
No, I haven't. Question: On a scale from one to ten, how much do you love yourself?

You wont find defects because Allah, who created mankind and knows all things, permitted the marriage of two cousins. For most of us, the thought alone of marrying a cousin is foreign but just think about it this way, Allah and His messenger approved it and if was harmful than Allah would've made it haraam. But I dont understand why their even discussing the marriage of two cousins, when they should be addressing the issue of same sex marriages and other unhuman principals that exist in their societies.
