Lois, As I said before, I'm not going to sit here and discuss projects. Its a tit for tat. What is at stake here is, how can all of Somaliland prosper. If you can't stomach giving 2 % of the revenues to Lascanood, simply because you're being regionalist how on earth can you discuss pan-somalis? Your argument just doesn't cut the mustard. If Somaliland is acheiving better than the TFG, so far any logical person would hold Somaliland dear. However, you'll say but Somalia might not always be like the TFG, and I'm saying Somaliland will not always have administrations that are so corrupt they haven't done anything for the country. In any case, even if I was to discount the fact that Awdal is ahead of Sool and Sanaag, and Togdheer - as you know Togdheer still uses the old Somali Shiling that reacks havoc on its economy- and even ahead of Berbera ( who even though the majority of the revenue comes from it, has not seen any kind of development since Somaliland reclaimed its sovereignty) and believed you that Awdal is getting a raw deal. I must tell you, that its been long a precedent that the sitting president doesn't do much for his region lest people cry neptotism. As a result, Berbera is now alomst a ghost town because the previous president was from there. Nevertheless, this adminstration has promised a lot of regions roads, ceerigaabo - burco, burco-odweyne, odweyne-hargeisa, dilla-borama, borama-lowyacado. Even the electricty plant you talk about in Berbera was just proposed, like many things, like the national radio, all hype. However, what Somaliland has delivered is peace. And because of that, just recently the local governments of both Berbera, Hargeisa and Borama were able to build roads. Not from anywhere else, but a joint venture between the local municipality and the people. When you have peace you can do anything. Also, Burco is getting better and people are more and more taking ownership as was the case in building a bridge for themselves. The next place we shoudl be focusing on is Sool and Sanaag, if you can't stomach that, then I can't help you. Your talk of Somali Unity is hallow if you can't even wish to help out your neighbours. By the way you don't have to take my word for it-Just look at the world bank ranking of Somaliland /SOmalia. Hargeisa is first. Banadir is Second. Awdal is 3rd. Togdheer, then Sanaag, then Bari, then Sool. Aduun iyo Akhiro, the issue is not about Siad Barre. Somaliland tasted what Somalia has to offer, under democracy, under dictatorship, under anarchy, under foreign occupation, all it provides is poison to Somaliland. You can keep your TFG that you praise and your occupation and you can sing with any one who is deluded enough to sing KUMBAYAA MY LORD with you. Abwaan, we already have a capital and a president, even if we don't like the pot holes in our capital's streets, or find our president lacking in many areas. You my friend do not count, its between the majority of Somaliland citizens who want to continue on their long march to dejure sovereignty, and those 5 percenters that are trying our course. As you can tell from the reality on the ground, what you think or want is irrelavant All the hoping might help if you hoped for helping you get out of ethiopian occupation. Charity begins at home.

Why are Somali Women Attracted to Taller Men?
Ace of Spadez replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
Cara, I forgot he was incredibly smart too. When he joined the family, they also gave him a poor diet. They decided to give him the head of a goat/lamb, which is not fit for a man. To their amazement he said, I WILL NOT EAT ANYTHING BUT the head of goat/lamb. There goes thier live stock, every day serving him a head. So you see its not just courage. :)You can't substitute intelligence now can you? -
Caamir, tribal, clanist, destablization is all attributes that fit the TFG squarely. I don't see how collecting taxes and adminstering law and order is destablizing Somalia. If anything the TFG entity that collaborates with the ETHIOPIAN OCCUPATION that is reaking havoc in Somalia would be your first priority if you indeed want what is best for Somalia. Instead of commending Somaliland's acheivements regardless how miniscule, you are here slinging mud just because you see things through a clanish prism. Take off the blinkers. Somaliland will march on with its progress, 5 percenter or not. I guess yapping on the interenet is your last refuge. Knock yourself out.

Why are Somali Women Attracted to Taller Men?
Ace of Spadez replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
People, the author is spot on. I'll tell you all a true story. A couple of generations ago, a short unattractive man named bacluul married into a nomadic family. Unfortunately for him, this particular family already had a son in law. This son in law, was taller and was a lot more attractive. He was treated well and got a lot of respect. Bacluul on the other hand was not noticed and often misstreated. They'd give him shody bedding, and poke fun at his height by leaning a sack of grain against a pillar. Bacluul ever the cofident man, joked "MA KA MUDHAY" Meaning didn't I tower over the sack. Despite this constant maltreatment, Bacluul's fortunes would change for the better. One day the family's camels had been stolen. The attractive, tall son in law ended up being a lame duck. He couldn't muster the nerves to do anything. Bacluul on the other hand hoped on a horse, rode it bare back, doing all kind of acrobatics, to catch up with the theives and bring back the booty that was stolen. That's when the famous saying "BACLUUL IS QAADAY" was coined. So you see people, there is isdom in this sisters analysis. -
Naxar Nugaleed, Somaliland and its incompetent leadership has managed to do in 4 and 1/2 short weeks what the city did not have for the last 5 years. If you had relatives in that city, as some of us, you would be happy nobody is getting hit by stray bullets, and there is no clan revenge murders anymore. Then again, you will never see anything good. Gaal dil gartiisana sii. There is more that needs to be done in Sool, there more to be seen, but please don't be foolish to down play law and order.

Originally posted by Juje: quote:Originally posted by J.a.c.a.y.l.b.a.r.o: I think everybody would love to be with Somalia only if Somalia is stable ,,, but to unite with a chaos ,,, HELL NO No mincing words - JB has stated the fact. And I think it is the most rationale. Somalia will be only united once there is peace in everywhere as opposed to 'there will never be the union again . Juje I think you should be worried about uniting Puntland, Gedo Land, Banadir Land, HiiranLand, Juba Land, Bay Bakool Land, Shabeele Land. Point being Somalia. Talking about Pan-Somali unity is putting the cart before the horse. As far as most somaliland citizens, they'll be the LAST somali polity that would join a confederation of sorts with the 5 regions that somalis live in the horn of africa. Infact, it would be in your best interest to acknowledge Somaliland's sovereignty, as it might be able to facilitate lasting peace in Somalia. If you don't find that plausible, that's fine, things are just peachy for Somaliland as they are. NGONGE, Saxiib its great to see you. I had a good chuckle about that story of yours. The nay sayers will keep pushing the goal post. I remember a time, when they used to wail "THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SAID NO to SOMALILAND", and then now that the international community is paying attention they cry "INFEDELS ARE DIVIDING OUR PEOPLE", somaliland is a "FOREIGN IDEA for FOREIGN INTERSTS". These yahoos don't know if they're coming or going. Its ok though, as master p would say, we true souljahz, we don't die, we keep rolling, nanananana Suldaanka, Could you please upload that video on youtube if you can? Last but not least, I don't understand why people are coming out of the wood works complainging, just because Hargeisa is rising from the ashes. If you can't stomach the before and after, don't bother looking.

Lois Lane, Facts is not mentioning 3 projects and then saying because of that small sample there is a bais in Somaliland. That is why you wont see me arguing with you that will only lead to a slippery slope, where I mention projects in awdal and then you mention other projects in other cities and so on and so forth. Its a futile excercise. However, despite the harsh conditions Somaliland people found themselves in 1991, they have made great strides from east to west. That's the reality. Does the government need to provide more absolutely. However, your charge that Awdal or any other province doesn't wait for hargeisa, that is true. Why would they? Its more sustainable when development is done on a communal level. Somaliland doens't need to become a basket case where all they do is wait for the governement. Then again, you're not for Somaliland so I wouldn't expect you to understand that. Also, relative to circumstances they find themselves in Somaliland people from east to west are quite satisfied. You being the 5 percenter can clamour for more. It will only force us to develop even faster.

Yes, ETHIOPIA DOESN"T OCCUPY Somaliland. It occupies SOMALIA.
-
Yes, I'm not upset simply because its not my fight. If Somalis in Somalia want to liberate themselves, then let them liberate themselves. As I said your destiny is in your hands. However, if you say, oh well, I'm occupied then you've accepted your fate and you deserve what you get. Freedom doesn't come cheap my brother. YOu have to demand it. If you don't have the balls I can't do it for you. I have my own fight. Sooner or later, Ethiopia and Somaliland will square off and that's the one I'm preparing for. Every man for himself. Don't feel bad. However, I'm not in your state. Unlike you though, I hope and pray Allah eleviates and ends the occupation in Somalia.
-
Che, So called or not, it is what it is and it is doing what it must. Our government might be incompetent, but it is not collaborating with an occupying force.
-
Che-Guevara, Ethiopian presence in Buuhoodle is on the Somali Galbeed Side. Maybe the situation you want to equate is what is going on in Somali Galbeed and What is going on in Somalia. As for Badhan LasQoray and Dhahar, no Ethiopia does not occupy them, because they're not under Somalia. But then again, you'd probably tell us the same Cadde Muuse adminstration that said for all the world to hear, WE CALLED THE ETHIOPIANS adminsters those cities. They are not occupying us. My friend I'm not upset about what Ethiopia is doing in Somalia. Somalia asked for Ethiopia to occupy it. However, I am rather surprised Somalia would opt for occupation rather than freedom. Also, Ethiopia is not a friend, but a neighbour. You can't choose your neighbours. You have to deal with them. Same way, Somaliland will have to deal with Somalia.
-
You're latching on to straws. Infact, I applaud the government for helping the province of Sool. It was long over due, and a must. Forget the government, every somaliland community, village have raised funds all across Somaliland to help the nation building taking place there. Somaliland is a nation, you need to ask yourself what you can do for your country and not the other way around. lol Seriously, if Awdal is grumbling imagine the rest of the country. Its natural though, for regions to vy for the national pie. Even if the pie is small in Somaliland's case. However, I'm happy that Somaliland people are prospering despite these perceived regional greivences be they real or not. Honestly though, you're still basing it on FEELINGS. Fortunately, Somaliland people do not wait for a governement to do what they can do for themselves. All they want is for the governement to get out of the way. Let them be and not hinder their creativity.
-
Truth is Eternal but what the hell...lets bend the rules for you... Fact, ETHIOPIA OCCUPIES SOMALIA, and not just some parts of SOMALIA, but all of SOMALIA. Fact, ETHIOPIA does not OCCUPY SOMALILAND. Fact, ETHIOPIA has BILATERAL relations that favour ETHIOPIAN Interest More than Somaliland's interest. Where on earth do you equate occupation and a inblance of relations???? Only in Che's head I guess. Not matter which way you turn it brother, your ALL SOMALIS ARE HOPELESS doesn't cut it. If you're hopeless, don't suck me into your vortex. I HAVE HOPE.
-
Unless you can quantify, what the government has done for one city and not for another, all your so called facts are based on "FEELINGS" as you yourself use the term "SEEM" which derives from FEELINGS and PRECEPTIONS. I'm only reading what you type sis. Wheres the beef don't just state things. Prove it.
-
Che-Guevara, Yes, I don't cower from the truth brother...and I don't put my head in the sand and instead of standing up tall to free myself...i say wha thte hell all somalis are like me...i have no power... wake up bro...you are the master of your destiny...will you fight to be free? or will you accept to have somalia the 6th province of ethiopia...
-
You will, local elections in july 2008 and presidential elections in August 2008. Sorry, I just couldnt resist.

Lois Lane, What progress Somaliland has made has been done by its people. The government hasn't done anything. Just like you, I'm holding the government under scrutiny to see what they have acheived. However, they have acheived one thing, and they've achieved it well. They have acheived peace and have brought law and order. This gives the condition for the people to prosper. Also, contrary to what your FEELINGS tell you, there is no such thing as chosen cities. Nevertheless, the government needs to do more and help all cities of Somaliland, because as it stand right now, they haven't done anything except for law and order. Make no mistake, just because there is room for great improvement, that doesn't mean there has been leaps of prosperity.
-
Che, You remind me of Qamaan Bulxan's poem in which he says.... cut the crap.." CEEBUHU WAY INAGU WADA YAALAANE".... unfortunately, this isn't the situation no matter how you attempt to brush all Somalis with the same brush... My brother Ethiopian troops are not in Somaliland, like they are in Somalia. Ethiopia does not dictate and select Somaliland's leaders. Somalis in Somaliland elect their leaders and will have once again a chance to do so shortly. Just because you see doom and gloom around you, doesn't mean every one shares your fate. I will concede one thing though, Ethiopian-Somaliland relations are lop sided, which is something the following administrations in the future to tackle, but lets not misconstrue that as occupation as what is going on in Somalia. Please take off your blinkers.

Lois, Good lady. You have all the respect you deserve. You and I both know the reality on the ground wont change on any scribbles here on SOL. I like your good spirited attempt to hi-jack this thread. Kudos to you.
-
Suldaanka, Saxiib Doofaar ebidkii ma daahiro... balahna ceydhiin ma daayo, nina caadadii ma baajo... as you put succinctly... the same card carrying wailers are at it again, but they don't realize ... if its a battle they want, its not won on the internet. The show down is in the ballot boxes stationed in the polling stations all over Somaliland. Maybe they need to think up a new party like Qaran. Lois, sis I didn't say Somaliland government helped any one? I said the Somaliland people are developing every where, from east to west. As you said in the other thread, when you googled Somaliland cities, all you saw was nice buildings. lol That to me means development. As for who funded it, and what political persuasion they have that is neither here nor there. If they contributed, that did what they should have. They are part of the society, even if they are 5 percenters. Last, if you have something against the Somaliland government, you have the right. After all it is your governement.
-
Suldaanka, Yes I'm still alive Alxamdulilah. I liked the pictures. Do you have any more from 1991? As for Lois, she's actually a healthy injection to this political section.
-
1. Afcourse the story line is short. Its only a span of 17 years. However, this is all this thread is about. 2. How about you look through the archives of SOL, that might be easier for you. You'll find all the Somaliland cities and the flag's flying high. Please don't ask me to embarass you and actually get them for you myself. You're a lady, I want to you to keep your self respect. Leave this point. Quit while you're ahead. 3. You can do as you please, as I said you're 5 percenter.

8th March 2008: Mogadishu new PICS: Who is in control?
Ace of Spadez replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Somaliland is not on par with the TFG. You're right about that. Who on earth would want to be compared with stooges and turn coats?
