  2. Heavy fighting in Somali border town. Mogadishu - Heavy fighting broke out on Friday close to Somalia's border with Kenya as extremist Shabaab fighters launched a dawn attack on the town of Dhobley but were later repelled, fighters on both sides said."The fighting was very heavy but we emerged victorious, there are casualties on both sides," a senior commander of the Azania militia group controlling the area told AFP by phone from the battleground. Dhobley is under control of forces from the self-declared state of Azania, an anti-Shabaab militia reportedly backed by Kenya to create a buffer zone along the troubled frontier."We have fully regained Dhobley after a fight, the Shabaab were pushed out of the area," the Azanian commander added, declining to be named.Civilian casualties are reported to be high with fighting inside the town itself. However, a senior Shabaab commander said his fighters had made a tactical withdrawal a short distance outside the town after intense fighting."The enemy suffered heavy casualties as planned, and we will return back again when it is good for us," said Sheikh Mohamed, claiming that Shabaab fighters had also seized large stores of weapons from the town. Dhobley is just 5km from the Kenyan border, and is a key crossing point for people fleeing to the giant Dadaab refugee camps, some 100km into eastern Kenya.Dadaab, the largest refugee complex in the world houses some 450 000 people, with 140 000 Somalis fleeing drought, famine or violence arriving this year alone, according to the UN refugee agency.Civilians and fighters were reported to have crossed the border towards the Kenyan town of Liboi, while Kenyan tanks and helicopters were reported in the area

  4. Senior Al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and another America-born militant were killed in Yemen early Friday morning by a CIA-led U.S. drone strike, marking the highest-profile takedown of terror leaders since the raid on Usama bin Laden's compound. Fox News has learned that two Predator drones hovering above al-Awlaki's convoy fired the Hellfire missiles which killed the terror leader. According to a senior U.S. official, the operation was carried out by Joint Special Operations Command, under the direction of the CIA. President Obama called the strike a major "milestone" in the fight against Al Qaeda and its affiliates. "The death of Awlaki is a major blow to Al Qaeda's most active operational affiliate," Obama said Friday. "He took the lead in planning and directing efforts to murder innocent Americans ... and he repeatedly called on individuals in the United States and around the globe to kill innocent men, women and children to advance a murderous agenda." 7. Declaring "time is of the essence," President Kibaki urged world leaders on Thursday to quickly provide Somalia with the resources needed to prevent al-Shabaab insurgents from regrouping. Mr Kibaki spoke in New York at a United Nations "mini-summit" on Somalia convened on the sidelines of this week's UN General Assembly meetings. The president asked the international community to enhance the capabilities of both the African Union military mission in Somalia (Amisom) and the country's Transitional Federal Government. Increased assistance will enable the TFG to extend its control beyond the capital of Mogadishu, the president said. "It will also enable AMISOM to deal effectively with additional and complex tasks such as the provision of humanitarian aid and protection of civilians," Mr Kibaki added. "The needed assistance must be deployed quickly," he warned, "to forestall the regrouping of al-Shabaab." "The TFG remains weak," Mr Kibaki said earlier in his address to the meeting chaired by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He noted that Somalia's continued instability is "placing a lot of pressure on refugee camps and related social services as well as host communities." Kenya is receiving as many as 2000 Somali refugees a day, the president said. He also warned that Somali pirates "are becoming bolder and are now extending their attacks to Kenya and other international waters." This worrisome development "cannot be addressed by the TFG alone," Mr Kibaki said.
  8. An al-Shabab official urged the children to use their guns to defend their ideology not islam .Somalia's militant Islamist group al-Shabab is in crisis, as it battles to cope with the famine that is far worse in areas under its control than other parts of the country, leading to reports of splits in the leadership of the al-Qaeda-linked group. Al-Shabab are totally losing support. People are saying that the drought in the region was caused by a lack of rains, but the famine was man-made. They are asking - why has it been only in al-Shabab's areas? It is difficult for charities to work with al-Shabab because it demands money from them. Robow's people are directly affected by this famine. So he wants aid agencies to come in. But Godane is suspicious of the UN and doesn't want them in Somalia. So he blocked it, Robow is now accusing Godane [who hails from the breakaway region of Somaliland] of letting people starve ,al-Shabab is under pressure is under crisis. I do not think al-Shabab really cares about the famine and somali people because they are more interested in fighting the government and the AU force for nothing and to gain their foreign ideology.
  9. The Islamist group of Al-Shabab in Somalia has awarded weapons and bombs to young school children who have won in Quran recital contest during the Ramadan month. Radio Andalus, which was looted by Al-Shabab from former Mogadishu based-radio of Horn Afrik and now under Al-Shabab organized the contest which ended three weeks ago. A very large ceremony was held in Mogadishu outskirts of Elasha, and was attended by senior officials of Al-Shabab group where they advised the children to go into ongoing fighting in Somalia and battle against Somalia government and the African Union troops in Mogadishu. At the end of the ceremony Sheikh Moktar Robow abu Mansur, senior Al-Shabab leader and former spokesman of the group awarded three young teenagers who have won the contest. The first winner was given AK-47 rifle and $700, the second was awarded with AK-47 rifle and $500 and the third winner was given two hand grenades [F1 bombs] and $400 as prizes. The three were also given religious books. “We want the children to fight for defending of their country and their religion.. just take these guns”. He said. Meanwhile one of Al-Shabab’s senior propaganda officials, Sheikh Abdulkadir Mumin suggested continuing giving weapons to the young children in order to be part of wars, as he insisted that all Somalis should join Al-Shabab led-war in Somalia, where they are young or adults.Al-Shabab’s senior propaganda leader, Sheikh Abdulkadir Mumin speaks at the ceremony. In 2009 the extremists also awarded young school children with weapons and bombs in Kismayo town.

The runner-up in the month-long competition aimed at 10-25 year olds, a 22-year-old, received an AK-47 and ammunition at the ceremony, where the rebels urged parents to allow children to learn how to handle weapons and fight against the enemy. The radical al Shabaab, seen by Somali people dangerous to the countray, controls some parts of the countary and has also been targeting Somali children in neighbouring Kenya for radicalisation and recruitment to their ranks
  11. A radio station run by Somalia's al-Shabaab Islamist group has awarded weapons to children who won a Koran-reciting competition. The second prize-winners received an AK-47 and $500, while the third prize was two hand grenades and $400. Al-Shabaab, linked to al-Qaeda, controls less than a quater of southern and central Somalia. It recently withdrew from the capital, Mogadishu, where the UN-backed government is in charge. Four children, aged 10-17, were chosen to represent each district in the competition held during the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan, which ended in August. "Children should use one hand for education and the other for a gun to defend Islam," senior al-Shabaab official Mukhtar Robow told the prize-giving ceremony in Elasha, 20km from Mogadishu. 13. Pro-government forces are back in control of El-Wak District after militant Islamist group al-Shabaab pulled out its forces following fierce fighting at the weekend, residents said Monday. Dozens of people were killed and more than 30 were injured as al-Shabaab fought against Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces in El-Wak, Gedo Region, on Sunday, with the insurgents saying they had briefly taken control of the area. El-wak has been under the control of the government forces but locals told Somalia Report that more al-Shabaab fighters have entered the area after the group pulled its forces out of Mogadishu. Residents told Somalia Report that hundreds of TFG fighters with more than 20 military vehicles entered the district last night and began searching villages for remnants of al-Shabaab forces. “Al-Shabaab militia deserted the district last night and TFG forces immediately entered and kicked off searching operations,” Mahad Dhagahey said, adding that TFG forces buried their dead on Monday morning, including three soldiers who were beheaded by the insurgents, Speaking to Somalia Report, Bashi Ilikili, TFG military official in Gedo denied that al-Shabaab fighters had controlled El-wak, but confirmed that four of their military vehicles were destroyed by the insurgents and seven soldiers were killed, including the chief commander of El-Wak forces, General Abdullahi Dhamas. “The terrorists attacked our bases in El-wak on Sunday morning and tried to terrify the people, but we defended the community of that area and chased away the enemy,” he said. “We lost important individuals, like General Dhamas, and six other national forces.” The fierce fighting erupted after al-Shabaab launched attacks on TFG bases in the district early on Sunday morning. After five hours of heavy fighting, the insurgents seized the district, local residents said. “Early in the morning, al-Shabaab started shelling mortars at TFG bases in the district, and minutes later, they launched attacks on three TFG bases,” Dhagahey said. "I saw well known TFG soldiers and their vehicles which the insurgents had captured. Another resident, Abdi Baari, told Somalia Report that he had seen at least 25 bodies, including those of TFG soldiers, women and children. Speaking to Somalia Report, the al-Shabaab chairman in Gedo region, Sheikh Abbas Abdulahi, said the fighting was a major victory. “Thanks to Allah, we have liberated the society of El-wak. We defeated the pro-Kenya militias and killed 21 of them, including their commander,” he told Somalia Report, adding that the militant group had also seized large military equipment, including six military vehicles, machine guns and ammunition. “We initially told the media that we vacated Gedo districts on military tactics, and now we have begun to re-capture the districts," he said. "In the next few days, we are going to Luq, Beled Hawo and Garbaharey districts." The military spokesman of al-Shabaab, Sheikh Abdi Aziz Abu Mus'ab, held a press conference in Mogadishu on Sunday, and claimed that they killed about 70 TFG soldiers. Al-Shabaab had been expected to launch a major offensive in Gedo and Lower Juba with men redeployed from Mogadishu. El-wak is a strategic district located at the border between Kenya and Somalia. In recent weeks, there has been a conflict within the TFG troops in El-wak, especially among soldiers who hail from the ******* and Garre clans, both of whom want to take control of the district. Many believe that the insurgents took advantage of the rift within the TFG troops.

  15. The radio message was recorded in the town of Afgoye, near the Somali capital, during a meeting of Shongole and Sheik Hassan Dahir Aweys, formerly the leader of insurgent group Hizbul Islam. The two insurgent groups had clashed several times previously but announced a merger the aerly of this year. Aweys said his group will fight under al-Shabab’s command. “We have united for the sake of our ideology and we are going to redouble our efforts to remove the government and the African Union from the country,” said Aweys on Monday. The arid Horn of Africa nation has not had a functioning government since a socialist dictatorship collapsed in 1991. Its position on the Horn of Africa means pirates can use its long coastline to capture shipping. Analysts fear that al-Qaida linked insurgents are also gaining ground across the Gulf of Aden in the unstable nation of Yemen. If Yemen fell, that would mean failed states on either side of the shipping route leading into the strategically vital Suez Canal, the route taken by a substantial portion of the world’s oil shipments.
  16. It is important to note that most of these women used by Al-Shabaab are their spouces or widowers who have fallen for their wrong doctrine preached by the group(khawarij). As much as our sisters are wrong i can only blame those commanders (criminals) who brainwash them to commit such inhuman acts of killing their own sisters, mothers and brothers. According to credible sources, the group (khawrij) is believed to be planning to unleash women suicide bombers mainly because their areas of control in somalia is diminishing every other day following the ongoing successful government offensive with the help of AMISOM peacekeepers. Surely, when will Al-Shabaab stop sacrificing our people in a useless war that has nothing to do with religion? The gangsters called Al-Shabaab. have wiped out our underage boys and are now planning to eradicate our mothers and fathers. impossible may fellow citizen somalis can not accept that.
  17. Their latest strategy to seek strength from women, children and elderly men too old to even walk is both baffling and totally anti-Muslim and against Somali traditions. But as is clearly evident in their barbaric acts, this bunch of criminals killing innocent people in the name of Allah will stop at nothing to implement their evil agenda, in somalia. may allah punish them.
  18. I feel saddened and shocked by this outrageous lack of regard for human life and more angered by stories emerging about the justification for such violence. I trust that firm and tough legal action will be taken against al-shabaab, because this terrorist group does not know international reconciliation as well as developedment in the country, the persistence of this evil will not adversely affect the rights, freedom and social harmony in the country.Allah is our saviour, i pray with those innnocent wounded somalis with the hands of alshabaab, and their purpose is to expel somalis from their country,The time for dialogue with alshabaab is over,The time for armed resistance has come, alshabaab has to be cleaned up from south and central somalia..
  19. All terrorist cells will be eliminated from our soil, they are evil roots in East Africa and the the rest of the world. Thanks to our strong military and police. Above that, Amisom and somali army deserves the biggest appreciation and congratulations. Keep up and you are the best. No one can influence and spoil our destiny.
  20. The moderor Abu zubeyr aka Godane, Violent extremist hiding in it's midst. Xaaji Xunjuf knows these terrorists are based in suuq Bari east burco where this gunfight with SNM militia took place and some of Kulmiye's supporters are pro-Alshabaab, Kulmiye has a lot of explaining to do here or else they will be viewed in bed with Al-Shabaab.
  21. Lack of emplementation of the constitution result to that confussion. so may fellow citizen iska joojiya isxagxagashada. waa laga bixi doonaa insha allah.
  22. Al-Shabaab Warns Civilians Over Defeat The losers group al-Shabaab has issued a stern warning against anyone spreading 'rumors' that the Islamist fighters were defeated in the recent assault over Mogadishu. Sheikh Fu’ad Mohamed Kalaf (alias Shongole), one of the key leaders of the losers group, said late on Saturday those found talking about al-Shabaab's defeat would be shot dead. Speaking at a mosque in Mogadishu's Eelasha-Biyaha district shortly after Duhur Salat (Mid-day Islam prayers), Sheikh Kalaf cautioned the Somali people against discussing the recent defeat in Mogadishu. He said, “Everyone says al-Shabaab ran away from Mogadishu. I’m advising you to shut up your mouths. You refused to kill the infidels with us. Whoever is saying al-Shabaab were defeated will be silenced (will be shot on the head) “Everyone should fear for their life. Don’t die supporting the infidels," he said, adding that the Ugandan and Burundian troops would be forced to leave the country. He urged civilians to be vigilant over what he termed as the ongoing 'hit and run' attacks against the TFG and AMISOM forces in Mogadishu. “we used to protect the civilians, but from now on we shall not spare them, whoever is supporting the infidels (TFG and Amisom) have the right to die.” Sheikh Kalaf has also issued Fatwa ordering the killing of anyone opposed to the al-Shabaab, including those loyal to TFG. The latest threat from the al-Shabaab leader is seen as a desperate move to prevent civilians from supporting the AMISOM and government troops and the victory that has knocked their door. Top TFG officials have urged the residents to cooperate with the security forces and inform the police of any security threat from the al-Shabaab the losers.
  23. In my point of view, in most of the country, order has been restored. A decent harvest has been reaped. The port is open. Children are returning to school for the first time in years. Five hundred thousand children have been vaccinated against measles. Clinics are being rebuilt, basic medical aid can get to villages. Some of the 1.3 million refugees have slowly begun to return to their villages. Allahu akbar al-shabaab are losers and somali people are winners.things have changed and everything become normal in mogadishu.
  24. The old man aka (hassan daahir aways) declared a guerrilla campaign against somali people, but he is the biggest loser of all times and he is trying to regain some of his lost power with alsheydaan criminal gangsters after he got his marching orders from foreign fugitives who ordered him to toe in line with their equally twisted manifesto or face the sword
  25. There are six principles of shariah. They are derived from the Qur'an, which Muslims believe is the word of God. All Islamic religious rules must be in line with these six principles of shariah. ere they are, the six principles of shariah: 1. The right to the protection of life. 2. The right to the protection of family. 3. The right to the protection of education. 4. The right to the protection of religion. 5. The right to the protection of property (access to resources). 6. The right to the protection of human dignity. The six principles is not about killing human being and women and stoning people for nothing. Al-shabaab committed several acts of crimes in violence against Somali Muslims and they have to stop it and start schooling. So the best thing for al-shabaab to do is find out what Islam really is about. Because al-shabaab are too ignorant and they have not fulfiled those six principles of shaiah.
