  1. ^^Inta badan waan qarsadaa gowsahayga waaweyn, laakiin maanta waxaan kuu qoslaa alla i utusay !
  2. Aniga iyo umu zakaria wax badan ma kala weynin.
  3. ^^I honestly don’t know the answer of that question. But some tribes in that region don’t feel like that they are occupied and hence see no value in fighting Ethiopians. Some think of this liberation fight thing as a futile exercise. Others fear the dominant tribe spearheading this struggle more than they do the Ethiopian occupiers. And so the list of the reasons of this organization not being that inclusive goes on…but there is a parallel org that also fights Ethiopia for the control of this region. It’s more Islamic in its outlook and has a better leadership than the ONLF. I support both movements, as long their goal is to liberate that region. Ps there are others on this forum who are more tuned to the daily goings in that region that I am…so please step in and furnish relevant info about ONLF’s composition and strategies to good Gediid.
  4. ^^O-G-A-D-E-N (the region, not to be confused with the large tribe residing there) National Liberation Front!
  5. ^^You are missing Kashafa’s point. And that’s so unusual of you yaa Gediid. To put it differently, and to make it more philosophical too, nationalism when dyed with Islam is a wonderful concept. What it essentially means is that Muslim lands belongs to Muslims...united. The model that exists today in Arabia where every few tribes erected their own little emirate with an economy based on oil gives the wrong perception of Muslims being vulnerable to fragmentation and division.
  6. I have said the same thing at the beginning of this conflict. But since brother Northerner whom I think is a well-informed fellow on SL affairs doubted it I am inclined to believe that there are some other arrangements short of war being cooked beyond these two entities…
  7. Baashi, are you implying that Laascaano is a trap for our northern brothers and something more consequential is cooking up beneath these jubilations/wailings? And also the Kismayo conflict has entered in a new phase. The Gedo boys have lastly morphed into an Ethiopian arm in Jubbooyinka. There is silent exodus going in the city! **I am marking this thread for future reference--I beleive good Baashi is on to something here... ps--anna waxaan islahaa Baashi wuxuu ka fekerayyaa sida habarta da'da ah ee halka il ee cirka eegaysaa lehi ay cunug aysan aqoon ku heli doonto . Edit: Hunguri adeer that q was directed at Baashi. to qoute Ismacil's gabay is timely btw...
  8. ONLF has been fighting Ethiopian army for almost tree decades with little support from Somalia, the republic. In fact, the secessionist entity in the north, and the Ethiopian client entity in the north east have many a times handed over intellectuals/business people/leaders perceived to be in cahoots with ONLF and its efforts in O-G-A-D-E-N-I-A to their Ethiopian handlers. So there’s a legitimate grievances against these entities and their supporters from ONLF's part. But it’s really wrong and defeats the purpose to punish innocent civilians for crimes committed by these entities. That does not mean ONLF has no right to obstruct and harm these admins and their economic interests. It does! But it needs to be very careful in doing so---and it’s not easy to do so… Viva for ONLF!
  9. Baashow waxaa la yiri habar 70 jir ah oo hal il oo madaxa dushiisa ku taal leh baa Illaahay ka bariday inuu wiil siiyo. Ilaahay wiilkii buu siiyey. Mar alla markii la yiri waa wiil bay ciyaar iyo damaashaad qabsatay oo xaggaa u dur-durisay. intay damaashaadaysay baa wiilki wax cirka laga soo riday buu ahaayye isnaa xaggaa uu dur-duriyey. Markay ciyaartii soo dhammaysattay bay usoo laabatay inay wiilkeeddii kool-kooliso, mise maxaad ii dhiibatay! Suul-Cayn is gone, and he is no where to be seen! Kaaga darane, habbeenkaa isaga ah habartu isheedu daaf bay lahayd oo iyadoo awalba madaxa dushiisa ku taalay buu haddana arageedu liitay. Hase yeeshee waxay go'aan ku gaartay inay willkii soo hesho. Wax sumad ah oo lagu ogaa oo ay ku aqoonsato ma jirto. Keliya waxay caqliyan isku qancisay in maadaama ay dhulka ku dhashay uu dhabarka carro ku lahaa. Marka waa doon-doontay. Hadba waxbay dhulka ka haabataa oo inta kor u qaado oo madaxa dushiisa la tagto bay isheeda xunta ahayd ku eegtaa haddiiba ay carro ka weydana, tuuryay u maroojisaa... Bal may cid kale tusto, la arkee inay iyagu gartaane? Bal may sharqantiisa dhegeysato, la arkee inay oohinta wiilka maqashee? Wa kukaas awoowe~~
  10. ^^That sums up Geedi’s departure. Inconsequential. But the Baydhabo fiasco proved one thing, and that is, America, the sponsor of the tfg, is still committed to finance this project and keep the Ethiopians in Somalia. And that was what I was primarily interested in for it briefly seemed that was not case!
  11. Castro, horta waa habeen bar xaggaaagee seexo ! Tan labaadna, and to quote Abu l-xaasan al-xusri; If white is the colour of mourning, in Andalusia Somalia, it is a proper custom. Look at me, I dress myself in the white of white hair in mourning for youth. But i am beyond mourning adeer---i am looking for solutions beyond Kashafa's furious [and justifiably so] responses. Actually I am thinking to start a thread and to invite Nur to contribute...i think his wisdom is needed here! Good night!
  12. ^^A very germane point there…Ethiopia will never be defeated with the current strategy!
  13. ^^Capitulating is not what I would call my suggestion adeer! The zero sum game is what brought us where we are. Besides if you are willing to incorporate the likes of Indhacadde and Aydid [as the Asmara team did], you might as well want to explore the possibility of sitting down with those riding Ethiopian tanks adeer!
  14. ^^ You are wrong on both counts adeer! It’s only that my assessment on our current leaders in all categories [traditional, political, academics, and, the saddest of it all, religious] showed that they are incompetent beyond repair. In that verse, we should not be insisting on ideal stances when the very survival of our nation is at stake adeer! edit: I know you were out then, but there were similar threads like this one right after the Asmara conference ended...
  15. Originally posted by Kashafa: I'm short on time laakin your analysis is woefully flawed and I don't know where to begin deconstructing it. Just wanted to comment on that 'peace' thingy. More on the rest later. ^^Kashafa, my argument is very simple adeer. All I am saying is that as things are today, and with the disappointment in Asmara, only a comprehensive strategy that addressees Somalia as a single political unit will do what needs be done. Tfg, Puntland, and Somaliland are all part of the puzzle and one needs to acknowledge this political reality if one means to talk sense here. You are angry and rightfully so, but anger will not bring the answer you are looking for adeer. We are not talking what’s ideal and perfect; we are talking what’s practical and realistic. Ethiopia has outsmarted us…it has more than seventy percent of the country on its thump. And if you look back since the muwaamah started you would notice the ratio between Ethiopian and Somali deaths does not give that much hope, and if things continue the way they are I for one don’t really see any success coming out of this approach in this. Peace talks may be a low-key proposition at this juncture but it could be, I reckon, a wining strategy in the end, and to our benefit! As I told you before, you need to articulate a position and lay out a strategy to achieve what you want [which is the same as what I want], and not necessarily what you oppose! Castro , I believe I have already said many times that Ethiopia has exploited our divisions to her benefit. Ethiopia is a problem and we must learn how to fight it and role back its influence on our affairs. Tfg is a reality adeer. It’s incompetent, treacherous, and illegitimate. But it’s here and has support from substantial groupings of our people. We can ignore it and act and devise our plans as though it’s irrelevant or non-existent, but that will be to our peril. I have come to this conclusion : as long we are fighting Ethiopian troops in our capital, and not in Jigjiga or Dirirdheba, we are indeed losing this battle adeer. Hence we must go back to the drawing board, and come up with a different strategy. A grenade over there, and a hoobiye over here is not going to do it as long poor boys from the Ethiopia’s farming community in your own capital is what you are targeting. At the initial phase of this battle there was a hope that this sentiment would pick up, and this movement would spread out of the south and to other parts of the country. The rude truth is that it did not happen that way. Millions of Somalis in the country don’t feel like that they are occupied and their capital is under Ethiopian boots. Some thing must have gone wrong here if Ethiopia’s opposition couldn’t even effectively communicate the enormity of the last event to the other parts of the country. Most of the activities against Ethiopia seem to be out of desperation, and quite reactionary. I am, and have been, guilty of that. Must we all group-think and flock like herd of sheep though? If we can’t question this Asmara group and critique its composition and strategies, how good are we from the folks we continually mock and ridicule?
  16. ^^ Most of all losers in their works, whose course on earth has been in vain, while they count that they have done fair deeds. Says Allah! And the verses go on to narrate the after-dialogue said losers will be having with their Maker after they are resurrected limping with a great disability----lacking the sight with which to see! It’s because you’ve deviated the right path after you’ve clearly recognized it. Allah reasons with them. Likewise, the formula for success for Somalis is roundly obvious for all involved. All grievances when examined thoroughly emanate from injustices done during or before the Somali civil war. Justice is what Somalis need---force alone will not right the wrongs that were committed. We can all forget and forgive as it were but one cant sport the lavish trophies of civil war or continually brag about the gains of anarchy, and expect to be forgiven. As such, the tfg needs a fundamental reform before it can present itself as a genuine entity that can be trusted with reviving the Somali republic. The strength it has is the support it gets from the international community. But as pointed out it has been unable to capitalize on that strength. And absence any fundamental reform, it will be a wishful thing to expect it will do any better than it has already done. The Asmara group too is greatly compromised by the inclusion in their leadership with known thugs and shifty characters. ICU, as it was in its original frame, is no longer! And if truth were to be told, this group as it’s presented to us has no capacity to address the core issues for which Somalis have been killing each for nearly two decades. The only value it serves is to challenge Ethiopia’s hegemony in the country, I believe. And that is not enough to revive Somalia. If Ethiopia withdraws today I can’t see them succeeding to control Somalia wholly and peacefully. It needs, the Asmara group does, to recognize that the tfg is a part of Somali political polity and come to the realization that it has to sit down with the tfg despite the circumstances the country is in! The principles [being inflexible to talk to the tfg while Ethiopia’s occupying the south] good Bilaal admires are in fact Asmara groups’ Achilles’ heels. When you don’t have the might to reverse things to your favor, talking to your enemy is a great strategy. Somalis lack the leadership it takes to remedy the damages that civil war done to them. And the hard facts are that Somalis need interference from outside to arrive a lasting solution to their civil strife. My head tells me neither Eritrea nor Ethiopia can serve that function. Perhaps the Saudi Kingdom can. Lets pray for peace yaa Jamaacah!
  17. Oodweyne, easy with the swagger adeer---you may swallow your words back after hindsight! Wax Oodweyne gaardiyi ogaa guusha nabadeede’e Ganka laga abbaaray iyo fatada gadawyadeediiy’e **** hadduu geesi yahay lama garaacceenn’e Geelisii lama cayriyeene tan iyo gaw-gaw’e … But in all seriousness you are right on one thing and that is your entity is willing to commit some sort of suicide [in terms of jeopardizing its stability] as the political desperation from your part is quite obvious to all who care to ponder. Namely, recognition is not forthcoming anytime soon and the commoners are catching up with your spins. So the calculus of starting tribal wars in the name of closing colonial borders is really understandable! All in all, baal xooftada jooji adeer, LA waa layskugu immmaan maraan fogeyn haddaadan wiilasha xaafadahoodii ku celin... Incase you lose this one...please don’t go awol on us, and digest it by reading article THE DIFFICULT ART OF LOSING and come back to chat with us here in SOL.
  18. ^^Are you in SL politics saaxiib? You are uncharacteristically tightlipped on this issue! Time will indeed tell many things, but we are discussing events that already happened on the ground. We are not as though we are predicting who will come out on top in the political tussle between Geedi and the old man. We are frankly commenting on a reality on the ground. Things being the way they are, the next logical step is a war. Come again.
  19. ^^The issues are irrelevant here for we know what they are. The consequences of Riyaale’s admin are the controversy here adeer. It’s apparent to me that war is inevitable as long SL militia is in LA. And war in that region means civil war to me! What's your read on this adeer ?
  20. ^^Ah! What does the LA debacle tell you yaa N? Nothing? Either you bought Riyaale’s propaganda line of LA being internal thing and have nothing to do with Somali proper, or you're ignoring it conveniently adeer!
