Ciid Mubaarak to you yaa Nur! I am glad you revived this thread. Many things have transpired since our discussion in this thread. Chief among momentous events that took place since our last discussion are the crippling setback that was exacted on Courts movements, the American sponsored invasion in Somalia by our historic enemy, the emergence of Al shabaab militants, and the mass, forced exodus of Mogadishu population. Without emotional fanfare, we are, or Somalia is, at a historic crossroads. A failed leadership is on the helm of the affairs of every region. Division, separatism, mistrusts between major Somali clans, and lack of adequate awareness are among Somalia’s prevailing realities. When I examine these challenges, and study those who set out to address them in whatever fashion they come, I feel these problems are insurmountable! Then again I realize there is wisdom in everything that Allah does or devices. And that restores my hope! Disagreement is harmful yaa Nur when it relates to doctrinal issues as Qur’an teaches. But it represents, disagreement does, a sign of divine mercy or opportunity for diversity when it happens in the field of jurisprudence. That’s the traditional understanding of the disagreement hadith! I cite that because I want you think hard on what I am about to say! Ignore the doc-ka-yeeris yaa sheikh Nur, and concentrate on the points I am about to raise IA. Courts, as they were before the American invasion, are no longer. Al shabaabs youths have no solution for our chronic problems. Tfg is a tool whose time has expired: hopeless. Other Somali entities outside of the troubled south are politically captive and confined. Somali Diaspora->ha sheegin! I call these things facts. They are FACTS yaa Nur. If the goal is to save Somalia and whatever is left of its people and resources, those facts dash any hope that’s based on the aforementioned entities/concepts. They tame today’s popular clichés and political/religious slogans, and reduce then the empty rhetoric they are. Gone are words/phrases such as government, Jihaad, sovereignty, stability, liberation, etc. ICU did not melt away---they were done away. They did not transform---they were caught of guard and unprepared. In the big scheme of things, and when narrowly speaking of the atrocities in Mogadishu, Ethiopia is irrelevant (it’s quite relevant in the wider Somali conflict though, mind you)----America, with its large armed fleets on our coasts, and it’s F16 sorts flying overhead in our airspace all organized to protect its hired boys in Xamar, is relevant yaa Nur. It’s a reality, and it needs to be accounted in any genuine strategy to address the Somali conflict. It’s no longer scandal to say the fight in the Bakara market and suuqa xoolaha is analogous to a programmer who labors to fix and debug one line of code, not knowing that the whole program is broken and even if he finally succeeds to compile that portion of the code, the rest will still be remained riddled with bugs---bugs that may perhaps require rewriting the whole thing! Allah will undoubtedly reward good intentions. But when you remove this fog of emotion obstructing most of us to see clearly, you would realize that desperate fighting against a resourceful rival like America truly is ineffectual, and futile. The cost of fighting in Mogadishu proved quite colossal. Clearly our people got forced to flee. Their properties got destroyed. To what end? To defeat Ethiopia in Xamar? Then what? Who’s going to defeat her in Boosaaso, or Hargeysa if one believes their influence on those areas is more intrenched? Or to defeat America, whose financial and milatery backing is clearly the sole differentiator in this fight? Are the present means nearly adequate, by any estimation, to defeat it? Is it to defeat tfg? If yes, is it worth it? Is there any consideration given the impact such confrontation bound to have on innocent masses when done in urban areas? Does the cost outweigh the benefit? I don’t want to labor on critiquing tfg. It’s fair to say, absence of any plans from the powers that be, history will show how ***** and treacherous its leader were in their belief that they could rule Somalia from the top of Ethiopian tanks. I am done critiquing on the current approaches to end the Somali conflict! Now, here are some thoughts on the solution, as I see it. Forget about shariicah for now. Shariicah is a means to please Allah. It requires stability and security. We have none! The goal should preserve two things: the land and its people---Somalia and Somalis. You can only talk about shariicah if you have a jurisdiction over a country/state and a consenting constituency! You got to work to get those two first yaa Nur! We are war ravaged. Our best minds are drained and out. We are invaded by able powers. And we are divided! We are no position to regain what we lost by fighting. The only avenue open for us is to reconcile and seriously attempt to bridge our deference. Our thinking, financial power must be mobilized toward that end. There is a reason why the rasuul played meek 13 years in Mecca. It was because he and his disciples were weak, and no position to defend what was rightfully theirs. He knew pride and bravery alone was not sufficient to serve the purpose for which he was sent: to save his people. Any parallel between that history and ours yaa Nur? Before I leave this page, let’s underline one thing. Ethiopia is the enemy, and we should strategize and device plans to undermine her in the region. Not because we hate her or despise her, but our interests are genuinely and diametrically opposed! No Courts alone! No shabaabs alone. No Asmara group alone. No tfg alone. No Somaliland alone. No Puntland alone. Rather the sum of all of these, or perhaps some revision of them, should be the engine to revive Somalia…

Raila Odinga claims victory in cliffhanger elections
xiinfaniin replied to Suldaanka's topic in Politics
Pray for stability in Kenya. I don’t really care who wins or loses in this election. I all care is to preserve the stability that exists in there. Kenya is home for many of us. My Allah keep the peace in there. -
The real xan, as Xiin sees it It’s quite ironic! Ethiopia’s invasion, and subsequent occupation of Xamar has compromised her regional hegemony and strategic plans for Somalia. Or that’s at least what I am beginning to gather. How so you might ask! Here’s how. Yesterday, before Ethiopia invaded Somalia, majority of Somalia’s territories, save some regions in the south, were firmly, and conveniently, under her influence. Firm, because there was no alternative, reliable source that could seriously contend to provide the type of services she provided to her allies. Convenient, because she attained and maintained her valuable position on the cheap. Relatively, before her invasion in Xamar, Ethiopia didn’t have to do much to ensure the cooperation of Somali leaders. On the home front, most conflicts in her borders eluded global attention. UN agencies seemed reasonably content with her approach. Even emerging powers like China showed interest in pouring much needed investment to stimulate her sluggish economy. Simply put, Ethiopia was well positioned to manipulate and influence Somali conflicts without committing significant resources. Today, after the invasion, Ethiopia seems to be losing influence, or too overwhelmed, too busy, to retain her status in important regions. Two loyal, obedient entities of hers are now at each other’s throat. She seems to be at wits end! Her very bold military move caused other countries to get involved in Somali affairs. She is no longer the only player on the ground. The outcry that resulted from the mass exodus of the Mogadishu population got many regional and global countries/agencies interested in the plight of her victims in particular, and in the tragic Somali conflict in general. Militarily she seems to be bogged down, and her threats are no longer credible. Her promises of speedy victory to her allies no longer seem believable. At the home front, the ****** insurgency grew bolder, and deadlier. Zenawi’s nakedness become quite apparent when his sole, and much lauded oil exploration initiative was aborted by ONLF’s spectacular attack on the site itself in which it succeeded to kill and abduct the Chinese crew itself! The response from the Chinese government was equally embarrassing: it determined that ****** is not safe enough to risk Chinese experts! China halted the project, and withdrew. Zenawi’s subsequent military operations only highlighted his desperation. The wrath his military unleashed on ****** civilians gained him the condemnation and censure of even his closest allies. Western media begun to report and expose Ethiopia’s desperate, outlandish tactics to reverse ONLF’s gains. In the meantime, the Mogadishu battles highlighted the magnitude of the Somali tragedy. America’s involvement seems to have morphed from a mere antiterrorism measure to a more of serious engagement with Somali parties. And in that front Ethiopia’s unique position as the sole guru on the Somali conflict is cracked. The chief consequence of all of that is this: with Eritrea’s political involvement, and with Ethiopia’s failure to exacta conclusive defeat on Mogadishu insurgents, a solemn realization, from part of America, that the Somali conflict can no longer be contained as planned seems to be setting in. And if my read is right, that paradigm shift represents a grand setback to Ethiopia’s policy on Somalia. As ironic as it may sound, to save Ethiopia from a prolonged armed engagement with Somali insurgents, the Somali republic must be erected. And as much as Ethiopia hates the idea, and as things stand now, she has little choice but to work very hard toward it. For that’s the only way out of the mess it got itself in. Americans, Arabs, Africans, and the UN all seem to be saying the same thing. If time becomes nice to this analysis, it will be THE unintended consequence. But to alter the purposefully created political realities on Somalia’s civil war ravaged political landscape will require a much more shrewder approach. Perhaps the coder could be useful to untangle own code… That much for a dream!

Positive, that was a good read. thanks for sharing it. Lest I mislead you, I am neither a scientist nor a theologian! Hence my previous objections to your assertions were the work of my common sense. I hope you now realize that the notion of ‘Time does not exist’ is the controversy here. That time exists is an old school of thought. Whether it exists in obsolete or relative terms is beside the point really. Camel Milk, thanks for the able expositions.

The New Realities And The Conscience Of The Sool Man
xiinfaniin replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Gediid, today Somaliland represents a secessionist entity. Even if SOOL folks were not happy in the goings of PL’s political machine, jumping in a secessionist wagon would not be a plausible option for them. If Somaliland retracts disowning its national character and identity, and starts to pitch a different ball, a Somali ball, then, and quite possibly at that, a large junk of today’s Puntland tribal components may find advantageous in gravitating toward your political poll! What makes your otherwise significant gains a tragic stillborn is its underlying dogma; the attempt to dismember your own republic at its neediest hour! But again why would I be surprised…. -
This is a rotten carcass of graceful city. It’s not the wreckage and the ruins of its once elegant buildings that are distressing the most; rather, it’s the dearth and the sheer emptiness of its streets and markets that I find quite painful! This large, exodus of our population will be, I would reckon, the most consequential of the Somali civil war.

Positive, I did not say Sufism is bad! I only suggested that your choice definition of time has a Sufi tilt, a caprice you’ve happily confirmed. So take it easy adeer! You requested me to give you my definition of time. I did that---and I see no reason to restate it again. L o Z, any time saaxiib!

Ibrahim Hawd, the prolific Somali writer, expresses his dismay about the current status of Somali people... ================================================ Soomaaliya waxaa u dumay habeen madow. Waxaa loo gudbay marxalad kale oo ka mid ah dhawr marxaladood oo halista iyo foolxumada kala daran. Waxaa la taagan yahay bartii ay cadawgu weligood ku taamayeen. Ciidammada Xabashidu waxay markii ugu horraysay taariikhda si buuxda gacanta ugu dhigeen, oo xoog ama xeelad ku haystaan, dhammaan dhulka soomaalida, marka laga reebo Jabbuuti. Waxay si hawl yar u duqeeyeen caasimadda Muqdisho, waxayna qarka u saaran yihiin in ay xaqiijiyaan damacoodii qarniyada soo taxnaa. Waxaa soo dhow in dunida laga waayo qof soomaaliyeed oo aan Xabashida masiixiga ah addoon u ahayn. Mustaqbalka cidina ma saadaalin karto, waxaase xaqiiqo ah isirka soomaaligu intii uu soo jiray oo dhan waa maalintii uu ugu aayo xumaa. Heesta luuqda xun ee ah "Itoobbiya waxay neceb tahay qolo gooni ah, waxayna gumaadaysaa xisbi gaar ah", iyo riyada liidata ee sheegaysa "Itoobbiya ayaa dawlad naga dhigaysa" waxay noqon doonaan labada heesood ee ugu caansan uguna ceeb badan taariikhda soo socota. Duullaankan caalamiga ah sida cad waxaa laga leh yahay laba danood oo kala dambeeya. Ta hore waa in soomaalidu sidii ay dagaal-oogayaasha iyo maamulladu u qaybsadeen loo daayo, cadaawadna la dhex dhego si aanay marnaba u midoobin, dawlad dhexe oo si dhab ah u shaqaysana meesha looga saaro, marka laga reebo mid maqaarsaar ah oo la mid ta imika Baydhaba lagu qayilsiiyo. NGONGE, Fulay . Lets wait till Siilaanyo takes the helm… Egal was a great politician no doubt. He dominated Somaliland’s politics since 1960s. After the collapse of the Somali republic he returned and dominated again. He imposed his rule quite firmly, and as a result caused a lot of displacement and destruction to certain cities and communities. Some would say that Egal still rules from his grave through the proxy that’s the Riyaale today. He outmaneuvered the two men (Tuur and Siilanyo) who led the insurgency against Barre, and dominated the airwaves during the SNM years, while Egal comfortably chaired Barre’s Chamber of Commerce from Xamar. The irony is good Tuur died in exile, and Siilaanyo has yet to harvest the fruits of his struggle in terms of leading the region for whose sacrifice he so bravely gave up all the comforts he had in the West. As an elder Somali who had the respect of many Somalis, Egal missed the opportunity of playing the type of role only an experienced politician like him could play, attempting to reconcile Somalis. It must be said that Geelle of Djibouti tried to fill that void in year 2000 and somewhat succeeded in it. Egal died and left a Somaliland that was more stable than it was when he found it. Allow kuu naxariiso…

^^Oodweyne's argument when subjected to scrutiny was found wanting. His long, and shallow writings, and even his peculiar immoderation of talkativeness, could not help him win any converts over this one---it was dead on arrival! وصفت تقاة كأنك ذي تقاة وريح الخطايا من ثيابك تتسطع ^^Just like a dirty preacher immersed in a duplicitous life, the man knows that he has no genuine defense for the argument he brought here! So instead of attempting to inject new energy into this tiresome argument, why don’t you perform its last rites, yaa Thinker !

^^Let me simplify it for you adeer: assuming that you know what the Americans or Pentagon for that matter are looking for, what are you, or the entity you so inflexibly support, offering to satisfy America’s well defined goals in the Horn? As a reminder, and lest you drift again, here are America’s goals in the Horn. 1) Contain the Somali conflict so it does not seep into the neighboring states. 2) Deny al qaida and its sympathizers a foothold or a heaven in the chaos that’s Somalia. Wa ku kaas… Ps—easy with your obsession with Baashi’s royal Macawis. He tells me it cost him a fortune…

Aniga waxaan base line ii ah in dhibka soomaali haystaa uu yahay hoggaan xumo. Unless aad ii sheegtid inaan hoggaan fiican la heli doonin, I have a good reason to be optimistic about the futute…

^^You are forgiven adeer. If it was , جديد , the Arabic one, that you were after, then you got the spelling wrong---it should read, Gadiid ! Besides, i dont really like to assume much less blv anything about your reer, but as i said that's the only significance this name has that I know of!
-
I, somehow, have a hope in this man!
-
^^You need to work at it a bit harder still…chew on these TWO FACTS… 1) You are priding yourself on the potentiality of Pentagon handlers coming to your side and employing you to do the dirty job of a) collaborating (in a more effective way than you currently do) with Ethiopia to serve US’s interest in the region, b) getting on the project of hunting and apprehending those Islamists who are thriving in lawless Somalia, as those Pentagon agents would put it. 2) Those whose slander you’ve been excelling did the exact same thing and still do. ^^^The difference is THEY have the working relationship with the Pentagon, while you don’t. Irony [it's lost on you i know] is that you are disclosing your desire to get that relationship, and still have the nerve of shaming the Yey's of this world into eternity for it ! Need I tell you that shallow writings and long posts hardly substitute for a solid argument, yaa Oodweyne!

Mohamed said she had exactly one loaf of bread and a few tomatoes for her own family when Ali arrived last month. She divvied it up. She had a bit of room in her house, and Ali and her children are still sleeping there. She had an extra dress and a piece of pink cloth, which she gave to Ali. "Without her, the problem would have been very bad. We're grateful she has a good heart," said Ali, who was wearing the dress. Others arriving here have found refuge with local Somali groups such as one run by Mana Abdurahman, who has taken in more than 200 orphaned children this year, as well as families from Somalia's more marginal clans. "I don't care where they're from," said Abdurahman, the daughter of a prominent clan leader. Among them was Hawa Robleh, 45, who said she was receiving food aid for the first time in her life. She has to feed not only her own eight children, but also a family of distant relatives from Mogadishu who have been with her for two months. "Life is difficult for me, but it's more difficult for them, because they left their homes," Robleh said. "We've shared everything we had." She added, though, that even with the food rations, her generosity may not be enough. "Since they arrived," she said, referring to her guests, "the children have become thinner." But this qoute nearly broke my heart:--- Abdurahman walked through the place she calls her "village," a swath of sand and huts and shady palms, greeting two recently arrived families and a young girl named Asha, who had been dropped off by her Mogadishu neighbors. In a small gesture of mercy, Abdurahman has decided to wait a while before telling the little girl she is the only one left of her family of seven. The rest were killed in a bomb blast in Mogadishu. "Where is Ibrahim?" Abdurahman asked her gently. "He's at home!" Asha said brightly. "Where's your father?" Abdurahman asked. "He's at home!" Asha said. "Where's your mother?" Abdurahman asked. "She's at home!" the little girl said, and on it went, as Abdurahman hugged her. Read the rest here-->A Wealth of Kindness Among Somalia's Poorest
