  1. Indhayare , could you find a parallel from our Islamic history to our current conditions, political or otherwise? What is the end goal of this struggle adeer? feel free to take your time saaxiib.
  2. ^^Aamiin to the ducaa Indhayarow. But this got me thinking:'Allow aaway nasrigii aad ballanqaaday'? The Nasri has come earlier when we defeated the warlords in Xamar. When obscure men came to the fore of leadership with Allah’s help! When we pacified a part of our country where more able powers failed to even hold it for few weeks. When aroused a paciliuar sense of nationalism for many folks who stayed too long on the hum of exile and did not know what Somalia would feel as a country. I could continue and list all the things Allah made possible in a span of weeks…but we squandered it! We thought we could challenge the world with a mere AK 47. We thought we were unstoppable! We where so over confident we denied the reality that surrounded us! We oversimplified the Somali conflict. In a very ironic way we prescribed a medicine we our selves refused to take… Now when some of us see what happened as a corrective setback, others within us see it as a sign of doom. As apparent in the article you posted, they implore Allah for speedy help when we even refuse to acknowledge our own faults and correct them. To put bluntly, those who still think yesterday’s course of action was the right the way to go, are they very ones who find current Sh. Sharifs unpardonable betrayal. But today we know better adeer…the strategy is clear…and Allah’s sunnah throughout the ages is before us. The xiwaar, the power of dialogue, the sulxi of the ummah, removing the fitnatil al qabiliayay, minimizing the Ethiopian leverage are our new guideposts. The subtitle in all of this is clear…
  3. ^^Who do you think should represent the Muqaawamah in your oponion? Or any one with AK 47 is a leader in your books? Do you think Sh. Sharif has any role in this saaxiib?
  4. ^^Adeer I see Waraabe in you! That's the bigger story here
  5. ^^I've been waiting you in the other thread? My assertion of Siilanyo going to Addis my be incorrect but LIE it's not! I dont expect you to know the difference adeer! Ayoub, that’s a good stuff. Shows that Siilaanyo has little more decorum than the other secessionist leaders. I do understand secessionist politics and the need for the politicians to pander. In that context Siilaanyo does very well. What’s unpardonable about him is his failure to lead his people in their hour of need. This is a man who supposed to be larger then Burco remember… EDIT: Originally posted by Ceyrow jr.: ps. Djabtuuti are our fellow somalis and neighbors to the west. We share everything with exception of politics. They oppose the existance of Somaliland therefore Faysal Cali Waraabe has a point in stating that since Djabuuti hasn't shown any desire to recognise Somaliland then it's therefore not neccesary to make trips that will not bear any fruits to benefit somaliland. That is stricly his point and yes I do agree with him on that. Cayrow, is it also fair to assume that you also agree with him in his other pronouncements including of course that Landers share more in common with Ethiopians than they do with Somalis in Xamar, the center of the resistance you support ?
  6. ^^Sh Dahir will come on board...but the terror label needs be lifted before he could actually embrace the peace....
  7. ^^ Adeer i am on record saying that Siilaanyo would make a better leader than the current lot. I dont have that much time on my hands but i will try to find that thread that reported all somaliland oppositon groups went to Addis at the same time... that is if my memory serves me! So you oppose Ethiopia's freindly relationship with SL eh? And so does Siilaanyo? Interesting turn ...
  8. ^^MM somali politics as it is today is decided by external factors... i would be interested if you shed light on living standards (running water, education, access to medical facilities, and the like) in SL, PL, and the portion of the South you saw! Population growth--how is it? ps welcome back duqa!
  9. Somalia's opposition factions are expected to soon hold face-to-face talks in Yemen. The opposition split over the signing of a controversial peace agreement last month. The talks follow recent comments by the principle Islamist signatory to the agreement who said the opposition will unite against the government if Ethiopian troops do not leave Somalia within four months. VOA correspondent Alisha Ryu reports from our East Africa Bureau in Nairobi. In a telephone interview from the Somalia opposition group's base in Asmara, Eritrea, Islamist cleric Sheik Hassan Dahir Aweys tells VOA that representatives from his faction and allies of Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed have received permission from the Yemeni government to hold direct talks in Sana'a. Aweys, who is influential among some clan and radical Islamist insurgents in Somalia, says he is not planning to attend the meeting. But he says he is ready to support whatever agreement is reached between the two sides. The Islamist leader says the opposition Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) requested the meeting, because there are issues to discuss and Somalis often resolve differences by talking. He says everyone is expected to abide by what the majority decides. Aweys and other hardliners in the alliance stayed away from U.N.-sponsored peace talks in Djibouti that led to the June 9 signing of an agreement between the more moderate Ahmed and the transitional federal government. Opposition hardliners rejected the peace deal. It stipulates that Ethiopian troops, who have backed the Somali transitional government since late 2006, would withdraw within 120 days if a U.N. stabilization force of sufficient strength is in place to replace them. Hardliners argue the agreement should have called for Ethiopians to withdraw immediately. They have threatened to remove Ahmed as chairman of the ARS for participating in the peace process. U.S.-based Horn of Africa observer and commentator Professor Michael Weinstein says Ahmed has recently made comments that suggested he was eager to prove to Somalis that the opposition alliance is intact and that a clear timetable for an Ethiopian withdrawal has been set. "He said that we are all on the same page in the ARS. We all want the Ethiopians out. We will liberate by negotiations, but if that does not work, we will rejoin the armed resistance and we are confident that if we liberate by negotiations, the militant faction of the ARS will join us. So it is all depending on 120 days, according to Sheik Sharif," he said. Weinstein says Ahmed's comments may have helped soothe some of the anger, allowing an opposition reconciliation meeting to take place in Yemen. But he says Ahmed's words are deeply troubling for the international community, which must now find a way to quickly deploy a sizeable stabilization force in Somalia to keep the country from plunging further into violence. Fighting between insurgents and Ethiopian and government troops for the past 18 months has killed more than 85-hundred people, displaced more than one million others, and has left Somalia in the midst of what the United Nations says is the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world. Another armed Somali group which boycotted the talks in Djibouti, the Shabab, has not yet commented on the peace deal. Its leaders have long maintained that the Shabab, recently designated as a terrorist group by the United States for having ties to al-Qaida, would continue fighting until all Ethiopians left Somali soil. 10. War mee Cayrow jr. Sadex beri buu inta secessionist qayilayya soo dhegeysto buu hadhow igu soo noqon…come out yaa zamiili come out where ever you are…
  11. ^^What are you saying Oodweyne? Where is the lie in this saaxiib? Did Siilaanyo go to Addis, the Mecca of Somali politicians? Did Waraabe go to Addis? Don’t fart adeer just tell us what is it that you are saying? Why do you always have a hard time understanding Ethiopia has today’s segmented Somalis in her thumps? And look what you are not saying…which is Riyaale’s trip to Jabbuuti is a break from the usual and predictable back and forth trips to Addis Ababa! Perhaps you would've prefered him not to go... Mar baad arag markhuun boqol jiroo mayrasha aqoone Marna tobon jir mawlaca kitaab meeriyad arage'e Useless...
  12. NG, all Riyaale needed to say and North demanded could be summarized in the following passage: Shacabka, hoggaanka, and Jamhuuriyadda SL waxay dareensatahay marxalada adag ee walaalaheenna soomaaliyeed maanta ku sugunyihiin. Waxaan dhiirigelinaynaa tallaabooyinka nabad doonka ah ee Jabbuuti ka bilowday. Waxaan jaarkeenna iyo dalka aan walaalaha nahay ee Jabbuuti ugu hambalyeynaynaa dawrka ay ka qaadanayaan dib u heshiinta walaaleheena Soomaliyeed. Ugu danbeyn, waxaa rabaa inaan walaaleheena somaaliyeed u sheego in si hagrasho la aan ah ay SL marwalba diyaar ugu tahay inay ka qayb qaadato xal u helida mushkilada soomaaliya ka aloosan! That's deplomatic nugget for Riyaale's speech writers if he has any . NG, tell me what you have against such a craft adeer!
  13. Originally posted by Ceyrow jr.: quote:Originally posted by xiinfaniin: ^^The irony in this is folks who are complaining about Riyaale's Jabbuuti trip were clapping for his summon to Addis! Total lie. What did Siilaanyo say about Ethiopia's invovlement in Somalia? go ahead tell us ninyow. Lie? Actually Siilaanyo along with other so-called ‘opposition’ groups went to Addis to see Zenawi…what they said to each other…we can only speculate! Adeer you are only harming your credibility if you assert that Ethiopia has no relationship with Siilaanyo & Waraabe! Granted that there is no deliverables required from them since they are not part of the current leadership but to suggest that they would’ve performed quite differently in the current political environment is just tororog…. EDIT: I forgot to ask you. Do you see eye to eye with Waraabe's characterization of Riyaale's trip to Jabbuuti?
  14. ^^So those are the basis on which you rejected Jabbuuti agreement? And you prefer absense of dailgue until alshabaab 'hold their fire, and ...abandon their stance on foreign forces.'?
  15. Originally posted by Thierry.: This is very tragic and may Allah ease the pain of the masaakiinta. Let us not forget our strategic goal of seeing an independent Somalia who looks out for its interest first and foremost. As much as I emotionally want to ambush the Ethiopian troops in Guri-ceel, Mogadishu one has to ask will this half handed tactic drive my enemy out of my land or should I comply to my long term plan. Adeeryal an agreement was signed which will enable the Ethios to pull out within 140 days an agreement, breaking this agreement is against our own interest. Negotiate today regroup unite and come back another day and claim what is rightfully ours. This half hearted war were half the country’s leaders are directly or indirectly helping the enemy is not a road to victory but only the prolonging of the status quo. Our steps should be (1) Abide by this agreement (suffocating Ethiopia’s external support) (2) Welcome and accept the UN sponsored troops (3) Replace the TFG crooks in government with men that serve the nations interest (4) Prepare for the new national government with Sheikh Sharif as the President (5) Set the constitution in line with Shariah Law (6) Set up an independent legal system (bringing the men of treachery infront of court) (7) Harness and encourage economic growth (8) Build Military, Air force and Navy (enlisting every able bodied young man to serve certain parts of the year) (9) Set up the infrastructure for schools and health service (10) Lobby the United Nation for the Independence of ONLF (11) At the same time through Proxy support the ONLF and other disgruntled Ethiopian groups such as the Oromo and Amxaar (12) Threaten Military intervention unless Ethiopia gives independence to ONLF (13) Somalia should align itself with a strong strategic partner lest we make the same mistake of the 70’s war. Nin waliba maalin buu tala go'aansadaa, Horn-na maantuu go'aankiisa inoo caddeeyey. Let's accept it. Please. Good call! But do we really see things in the same way? You see, Paragon, when good Horn ridicules peace calls yet ironically highlights the tragedy of Gureceel to continue the Somali conflict it just does not make sense adeer! It’s as though he’s saying those who support peaceful means and dialogue to resolve Somali conflict are hypocrites---a charge he so easily dolls out! Perhaps it’s a judgment call! A negotiated settlement is the only way out of this adeerayaal!
  17. Horn, so you will wait until 'there is not a single gunfire anywhere in Somalia' maaha? That's when you are willing for somalis to have a dailogue? Then you talk about naiifatee!!!!
  18. Horn, what exactly are saying? Are you saying talking about peace in the face of somali suffering like the one in Gureceel is hypocrisy? Is that what you're trying to say saaxiib? I dont have that much time but i can spare few minutes soo so dhoqso waryee...
  19. Allow dadkan dhibaataysan nasri deg-deg ah u keen. Somalis need peace and security. laa shakka!

  21. Letter to the members of the Somali Diaspora Nairobi, 27 June 2008 Asalaam Aleikum Once again I would like to thank you all for the continuing calls and emails pledging your support for the Djibouti Agreement. It is very heartening for Somalis, their friends and those sincerely interested in the resolution of the crisis to know how much backing there is for the Agreement among the members of the Somali Diaspora. As I have previously mentioned, I would like to keep you all updated with my movements. I recently traveled to London where I had meetings with many Somalis with different viewpoints at the Imperial Hotel, the School of Oriental and African Studies, a Somali restaurant and at the BBC to mention a few locations. All were committed to the future of their country. I also had constructive discussions with British Ministers, NGOs, analysts and journalists and delivered a talk to a crowded meeting at Chatham House which was attended by the British Minister, Lord Malloch Brown. On the margins of the annual Humanitarian Dialogue Conference in Norway from 23 – 27 May, I met Ministers, diplomats and experts from various countries and was very pleased by the political and financial pledges of support. A group of countries will, in the next few days, request a meeting with the UN Secretary General in New York to seek his support for Somalia and the Djibouti Agreement. I know that the Secretary General already supports the Agreement. I am delighted to announce that the international community as a whole has agreed to fund the implementation of the Djibouti Agreement. Since it was reached, the Agreement has received strong support from the Organization of Islamic Conference, the African Union, the League of Arab States, IGAD, the United States, European Union, France, the UK, Norway, Sweden and many others. Thanks to funding from the EU, Norway and the US, we have already started work on the Joint Security Committee (Article 8) and the High Level Political Committee (Article 9). Both Parties are already starting the implementation of Article 10 involving all stake holders to ensure the full and effective implementation of the Agreement. Preparations are also well underway for the Conference on Reconstruction and Development (Article 11). These are essential building blocks for the success of the Agreement and for the return of Somalia as a key player in the international arena. My continuing contacts with the TFG and with the ARS convince me that they are working extremely hard towards making the Agreement a success. The contribution of the Somali Diaspora remains extremely important for the rehabilitation of your beloved country. I would like you all to continue your good work with those involved both inside and outside Somalia to restore peace, dignity and hope to the country. Somalia needs all the help possible, especially from its children, to ensure an end to the lawlessness and violence that has engulfed it. I know you all dream of a peaceful, prosperous, environmentally-safe and stable Somalia. The time has come to work together to make that dream a reality. Ma’a ElSalama Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah
  22. GJ, that was very offensive! Please dont do it again!
