  1. Ibti, horta waa ku salaamay. Secondly, you could surely do better than that. You cant dismiss the vision good Sharif advocates simply because proponents you met were unable to present it well. If anything Sharif is a very well spoken person, and few could accuse him not being able to reason as to why he chose the peace path. Putting aside all the gloomy ixtimaalaat, Jabbuuti Agreement passes any objective scrutiny however tough and rigorous. We simply can’t just continue to do things the way we have done it in the past. We should welcome UN troops if they are the means to get Ethiopian troops out of our soil. It will certainly be to our advantage if we can influence which specific countries these troops will comprise. And that’s the discussion good Shariif has been trying to engage in. Whether the guy you met reflects that sentiment or not, the direction of Jabbuuti leadership is clear.
  2. Nur: In Somalia, we have a new breed of Somalis, who have in practice parted ways with Islam, actively opposing the Islamic solution to Somalia's problems, while claiming to be in the fodl of Islam. This is our dilemma . ^^And it’s NOT a new dilemma yaa sheekh. What makes our quandary rather interesting however is the disparity between the religious slogans and platform to exact ‘Islamic solution’ to the Somali problem and the actual capacity to deliver the solution. What seemed to be promising Islamic program has been unfortunately reduced to a series of sentimental and reactionary movements that misses the basic directives of masaalix and mafaasid. What are we (I dare ask the question) to preserve in Somalia, if we constantly play in the hands of the enemy to deepen the conflict and give it new dimensions? If we could easily be provoked into conflicts that we have no means (asbaab and wasaa’il) to prevail? And how could you talk about reconciliation without acknowledging the clausal need for Somalis to peacefully and craftily bridge the gaps and divisions between them to eventually amount to any significant entity in the region? Norf, there are irreconcilable differences between the Muslim/Christian divide. But it’s not an unmanageable one. When it comes to the internal frictions within the house of Islam, reconciliation should be the default mode in restoring unity to gain the strength needed to confront other external challenges.
  3. Think outside of the box, how, where and when? How: see Somali conflict for what it’s and try not to bury your head in the sand. Forgo the gloomy details of warring factions and stick to the big picture. Swallow your pride, and come into terms with the painful reality of deep-seated divisions and mistrust among your people. See Ethiopia the external factor it really is, and control the urge to talk bout it in imperial terms. Embrace the notion that no conflict is unmanageable, if not completely resolvable, and Somalis is no different. Make a strong handshake with the glaring fact that there is no political neither military void in Somalia, and formulate your opinions based on that fact. If you do that, yaa Dakhtarka xoolaha, you will consequently be a passionate follower of good Shariifs School. Where: where ever you are. When: now.
  4. Ramadan Kariim to you all. The month of peace and forgiveness is upon us. Observe it and pray for peace and stability in somalia.
  5. ^^They are needed and must be there, Emperor! We are getting to the gritty stuff of Somali conflict: how to implement a cease-fire in a conflict zone, and for that these men as well as the Ethiopian generals are needed and must be onboard with it.
  6. ^^lol Waraa xariifad cay maaha ninyahow. adi xaggee ka timid horta ?
  7. Cara, waa xariifad, say wax iskugu habanayso aa i dishayba.

  11. Originally posted by Che -Guevara: ^Your adherence to religion lacks practical dimensions. There's solution to everything. Promoting fervent devotion to one's faith without considering the practical ideas to the problems lacks creativity. Before you start preaching them-either give them the means or show the them the way to clean this rubbish. @che Brotha, I am not breaching anything. I have shared my observation on certain practices. The strange thing is that you can’t get this thought of me preaching, patronizing, demeaning out of your head. It jus got stuck, it seems, in your head no matter how many times I protest that not being the case. No matter. Now try to answer the q without going on a tangent again as to why garbage pickups is not the norm in most major Somali cities’ streets, like Bosaso. Or should it be the norm?
  12. NGONGE, You are the one not to be listened here. Follow Che waryaa---isba aakhirkii sadex page buu soo qoray, and they were all profitable and good. About this thread and the topic I chose to ramble about, I submit I could’ve done better, as you could do better in your solitary response, as I hoped you would. The thoughts I shared, though they were poorly formulated and feebly expressed, were not without merits. The questions I posed are valid, and still remain unanswered. Why Islam’s basic values are strangely missing from our daily life? That was my question. That’s to say this is a good topic. The only regret I have is that I posted these thoughts/ramblings in a time when I don’t have enough time to do justice to it or help propel this discussion forward… You see, some brothers chose (good Che included) to reminisce Islam’s good old days without even lamenting on the clausal social and political failure that prevails today. Cara took upon herself to defend these phenomenons as they are today on the basis of cultural differences. Warmonger just like Che did found the whole theme of this thread patronizing and demeaning of people who are struggling with their daily lives. Others agreed with my account and provided anecdotes. The point is I didn’t expect people to hastily agree with me. I really don’t. What I do expect from people however is to understand and comprehend what’s being discussed. This is not about blaming people for their shortcomings. It’s questioning why some societies behave the way they do when it comes to the certain, specific things others and I cited. Halkaa ka qaado adeer oo la dur-duri… Che, with all due respect, you are missing the point adeer, about 10 miles. What the west was is irrelevant. How Islam enlightened them is also immaterial to the things we are discussing here. Islam is a way of life, and there stuff this religion puts emphasis on that are not adhered to. Immaadhatul athaa cani dhariiq is a very pertinent xaddiith…but guess who is implementing adeer, and why? ps-- che of today is a lot better then the che of yesterday ..that must be said.
  13. ^^loooooool Actually hadda laftigeeda waxa nala jooga qolo london nooga timid (Val maaha ee ogow kolba nin waalan baa tahay'e). Laakiin waa qolo reer magaal oo waa ogyihiin in meelahaasi fogyihiin, lakin they are disappointed in our busy and hectic life. Akhirkii waa iga qaxeen oo cedar bay ka agdhawaadeen.
  14. ^^Waryaa Val adeer baan u ahay ma ogid? Midda kale, who told you Val is without man ? Ha dhiman baan ku iri wiilow. Actually i will be out of town in the following hours, marka warqad soo dhaweyn iyo maca salaama ah baan u dirayyaa inshaa Allah.
  15. edit: North, customizing fridays khudbah to address these issues is what i exactly had in mind for awarness is needed. Just like the culumaa preached the jalbaab, and the wrongness of qubuuri stuff, culumaa should equally feel the responsibility for these basic mucamalaam...and that assumes culummaa themselves have a thinking that's a notch higher then the rest of people... @che Now you are talking yaa che. Check this: adaabu khilaaf requires from you to disagree in civil usluub. i have a simple q for you che; why, do you reckon, qashins are not picked up in Boosaaso streets in a regular basis? is that because folks in there are not fond of faking a nadaafad? chew on that one please...caawa iyada ku qayil.
  16. ^^lol Walaahi i didn't think about that. I should though. For with A & T, everything is posible. Jabbuuti is the way to go adeer. Cidkale ha waydiin.
  17. Adeer ii warran xaggee ka dhacday? this man is man of men, i would personally talk to him if i could.
  18. ^^Now you describe what goes in my min as a sordid. That's bit damp compared to your previous choice word , voyeurism.
  19. ^^horta welcome back. Midda labaad, ninkani wax badan buu so kordhiyey oo ixtiraam, adeerkiis!
  20. ^^I am loving the apparent reversal of our roles ya Cara ! I must say though I almost find myself agreeing with you on the first two assertions of your post. What holds me back is my conviction that Islam as a civilization does not approve our current status as Muslims. And if one deems that argument irrelevant, the intrusion of the more scathing fact is inescapable and that is the practices you cited and justified did not as of today lead to assessable progress in any aspect of our lives. I will, as time permits come back and say more Insha Allah!
  21. Allow yaa wax u sheega... Hal calaamo a hatari ah baan ku arkay saaxiibkey A & T. Hadba qofkii ku danbeeya baa beddela. Shalay waxaan isku ogeyn inuu kitaabkii sayid qudhub aqristo, aan naagaha irmaan sheekooyinkooda iska daayo. Haddana waa kan oo asaga afka sidii riti qooqan ka abruniyya nasoo galay...
  22. I am liking your noble pulse to write about sheekhs albeit in a halfhearted way. It's not the sheekh i am liking, rather it's your new focus that's promising...
