  1. Veiled Bomber Kills 3 Somali Ministers
  2. Peace Action, I think they have been long done politically. The day they declared war on thier allies is the day they revealed themselves. They are using a naked force to hold the regions under their control. tfg alone cant defeat them, so other somalis must join to get rid of this group
  3. ^^Allow caqliga kuu daa That is exactly how I understood it...knowing alshabaab, that is probably what they tyring to say but find politically incorrect to say it
  4. Madaxweynaha ayaa sheegay in loo socdo qaranimaddii Soomaaliyeed Puntland ahaana ay diyaar u yihiin in ay dawladda federaalka kala shaqeeyaan arintan, waxa aan diyaar u nahay in wadanka maamul loo sameeyo anaga oo ka bilaabayna, gobolada nagu dhaw dhaw, waxa aan ugu baaqayaa Dawladda in la iska ilaawo faraqa iyo khilaafka noo dhexeeya meelna looga soo wada jeesado qaranimada Soomaaliya anaguna diyaar ayaan u nahay. A good comeback indeed
  5. ^^keligaa maaha dad badan bay warkayga neceb awoowe dan iyo heella se kama lihi
  6. may be the bomb killed too many people than initially intended
  7. Maaddeey halla xasuusiyyo in alshabaab dad inta ka badan ku xasuuqeen Beledweyne sheegteenna ooy waliba ku faaneen. Farqiga udhexeeyya kuwa maanta lagu laayey Muqdishu iyo kuwii Beledweyne ciddii taqaanni dadka ha u sheegto. Dadkii Beledweyne waxaa loo laayey wasiir baa ku jirey, wasiirkuna wuxuu wasiir ka ahaa al dawlah al riddah Isn't that the truth?
  8. This is devil's work. No doubt. Intii dhimattay allow u naxariiso
  9. Indeed in Algerian experience one can find extremist trends that is parallel to what we are seeing today. But with alqaida’s global reach, ours is even tougher to defeat. My hope is that with today’s tragedy Somalis will rise above their political disagreements and unite against this menace that is destroying their land, attacking even educational institutions, rare, bright spots in the Somali darkness, killing those who worked hard to make a difference. As Oodweyne pointed out, Somalia’s tfg is militarily weak and have no capacity to defeat with alshabaab by itself. Other Somalis must join in the fight.
  10. ^^Salaam Gheelle, I know Maadeey baa ka mid ah ragga weli shiddeysan
  11. Waxaa murugo iyo qoomamiyo, maanqashiyo ciil leh Maskax iyo garaad iyo wixii, muruqba kaa liita Markuu adiga sharaftaad mudnayd, kaa maroorsado e It was a Beledweyne yesterday, killing the leaders of entire community gathered for a wedding ceremony. The reason: Omer Hashi, a minister in the tfg cabinet, was present at the ceremony. Omer was not killed because he was a warlord leading an armed gangs; he was killed because he belonged to tfg, an entity which alshabaab takfiiri movement deem un-Islamic. In the after math of Omer’s death, SOL community and commentators differed in the theological and political ramifications of such blatant terrorist act. Some were mesmerized by the spectacular execution of the act itself. Some thought it was the nature of the game, and there was nothing particularly wrong with killing your enemies in whichever way you could. Others were jubilant about the take down. It was, they opined, a necessary bakhtification of a wicked soul. Few understood the theological undertones that makes so easy for someone to take fellow Muslims live. Before it was Ethiopia’s troop presence that gave them a cover, but in Beledweyne there was no Ethiopians. Today the news of murder of prominent ministers in a similar fashion came in, and given the tactics used and the manner of the killing, there is very little doubt who has the theological rationale and training capability to execute such a heinous act. It’s alshabaab. The death itself, though tragic, should not surprise; people live or die by the will of Allah. The fact alshabaab kill innocent, though despicable and appalling in many ways, should not surprise anyone either. Doing so have been the norm for them for some time now, and we all accustomed with it. What is beyond me is the fact broad spectrum of people support alshabaab and their madness, present argument or try to articulate a value proposition for this group’s criminality, ignoring the perils this group presents for Somalia’s stability and nationhood. It’s really ironic that those who support alshabaab and their military adventures do so out of nationalism and religiosity. The vulture strikes again as expected. But does this represent new insights of this group’s ruthlessness to chip away the tolerance they thus far enjoyed. Will the silent scholars speak out now? Allah has already exposed the two Hassan’s for the two cowards they are, supporting or at least tolerating what Allah prohibited, shedding the Muslim blood as a political tool to get hold off the proverbial throne. As a result of this, who else will fall from grace?
  12. War-xuma tashiilku reeban, oo raaran Is bad press good for Puntland? Bad press, as the old adage went, is better than no press. One may say that is a false consolation for those affected with negative press. Others may disagree and argue the opposite. What is not a moot point however is the role of media to shape and frame the perception of the public on a particular subject. Before we arbitrate the debate between the two opposing camps, lets recount the rollercoaster weeks Puntland had, and the events that led to it. For the last couple of weeks Puntland tracked the full media attention resulting in what seems to be a negative trend for the state. The prisons debacle has completely sucked the oxygen out of the state, over saturating Somali news portals with negative editorials, and depicting a Somali state that is prepared to do anything to please Ethiopia. Puntland security apparatus has willfully handed over one man to Ethiopia, the online editorials asserted, after inviting Ethiopian security personal to Puntland to do the actual interrogation. The death of one of the five arrested in Puntland custody have given the media the ammunition it so needed, allocating significant air time and bandwidth to push the coverage of this story even further. Then came Faroole’s Nairobi trip. A delegation led by Faroole visited Nairobi to meet with International community . Faroole also met with leaders of TFG to discuss the implementation of Galkacyo Accord. Here again the state got a bad press with media focusing on Faroole’s disagreement with TFG approach, and completely ignoring the progress the sheer fact the discussion to further a federal structure represented. Faroole and his negotiation style is partially to blame, which in this case made him an angry man who has no capacity to allow bureaucratic procedures take its course. Instead, Faroole walked out of the meeting, making a political scene that was unnecessary, and on which the news angry media later capitalized. Amin Amir the Somali artists, was in his element when he drew a cartoon depicting pres. Faroole as an impatient man rattled with anger. As if these are not enough of a bad press, Congressman Donald Payne’s office issued damning press release accusing Puntland of abusive behavior and violation of human rights in its handling of prisoners. The harshly worded statement caught many Puntlanders in surprise. It was issued right after what seemed to be a happy meeting between Faroole and Payne took place in Nairobi. Payne’s statement reflected a significant departure both in tone and policy from previous, diplomatic, relationship prior meetings represented. Simply put the press release suggested that these two men are in serous discord. With Payne’s statement the ferocity of Puntland’s negative press dramatically increased. Puntland found itself under the crosshair of media guns. If one had grudges against Puntland state, this was the time to air it, and in the midst of media frenzy, it was very hard to tell which media was playing its traditional role, simply covering the Puntland story, and which was taking opportune shots at Puntland. Even xaaji xanduf of SOL thought it was plausible to run with bogus news that suggested two prominent Puntland ministers resigned. And the commoners, led by Aw Tusbaxle, fell for xaaji’s trap, providing heartfelt commentary on an event that had not occurred . With that background, now lets take up the question of whether this bad press is good for Puntland. What are the lessons learnt for Faroole? Take it from there ya jamaacah. I will chime in my two cents later today.
  13. ^^Indeed is yaa xaaji. The world is coming to an end i thought when I saw even good Ibtisam mocking the effort to verify the validity of things. I like the English version of PL's response...diplomacy at work.
  14. Anything Puntland related (a mere article in this case)is toxic these days
  15. Aw Tusbaxle, perhaps you are unrealistic about the effectiveness of the prevalent policy making model in PL. I am not concern with the details as long the general direction is on the right path. Faroole has made great bold moves, his tongue slipped few times, but overall the man is making much needed political and security realignments that Somalia will benefit in the end.
  16. I have already done that, Horn. Scroll back up and read my comments awoowe.
  17. ^^Rajjaad leedahay hadaba. Awoowe cidna ONLF kama soo horjeedo, Ethiopaina cidna jeceyl uma hayso, if anything Faroole more or less attempted to by pass Ethiopia and go directly to the well as it were. He had some success in that regard. wiilasha xiran waa lasii deyn haddii alle idmo, xattaa haddday xukumaan i would be fine with it but handing them over to Ethiopia is a big charge , and unless it's proven Faroole did it I am NOT going to take your or some else's word for it.
  18. ^^Waad caytamaysaa awoowe That I disagree with drama queens of SOL, or ask source for a press release does not make me fake. Shalay waxaad halkaan la taagnayd 5 nin baa la dhoofshay, maantana waa hal, berri waxaa dhici karta inaan cid ba la dhoofin, marka sidaad jeceshahay ma yeeli karo awoowe. I dont understand what Bashe has to do with this. the man retired from sol for some time now, why bring him up in this discussion?
  19. ^^Weli xammaasad baa ku haysaa da'daan ku jiro tan ku mudaaharaadi jirey waxr online sources soomali leedahay ku qoran maaha awoowe
  20. ^^No even the congressman's office admit the mistake of not updating the website which should be the correct source of Payne's statements. Adiguse xamaasad baa ku haysee waad ogtahay inaan waddo sax ah hayey
  21. ^^Actually I got an email from Congressman's office containing the actual statement. So the authencity question is settled now.
  22. Originally posted by The Zack: Xiin, Mr.Payne's staff don't post the congressman's foreign countries-related press releases on their website so you won't find this on that website. NOT TRUE here is a one: somalia
