North, brother, leaving SL out of Somalia agenda would be the greatest injustice in my mind @ Oodweyne the thing is you are so resolved to believe a country called Somaliland that has borders with Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia anyone who suggests otherwise is delusional in your mind Oodweyne listen: Siilaanyo is equipped politically, and in terms of clan association to chart a new direction for Somaliland provided he secures a face saving formula from his southern brothers. That may not be happening as we speak, it may not be the platform he ran on, it may not even be the expectations of those who elected him, but it’s what the political reality on the ground requires , it’s what leadership demands, his mature age and experience tells him every day …he knows it awoowe. Adigu SOL baad ka qixi ama sidiinii baad howdka Oodweyne inta isku urursataan mucaarado aan naflahayn ciirsandoontaan

xaaji xunjuf, I believe the Somali conflict is nearing its closure as many realize the madness of alshabaab, and the artless effort to dismember a failed state hit a brickwall as expected. somaliland elected a mature politician who can put his foot on the ground to challenge the ‘way duushay’ nonsense, and Puntland has a leader who can cut a deal with other somalis provided sound foundations are agreed upon. The world can no longer ignore the plight of the south as those milking donor money in Somalia's name in African capitals are no longer safe from alshabaab wrath. This suggests a convergences of political realities and a solemn realization from outside world, that Somalia can no longer be contained in box, that it can no longer suppressed…the only thing missing is a genuine AND competent leadership from the south, and that too can easily be stimulated, and I am sure in the next year or two a better and brighter picture will emerge for Somalis. Resilient we are, and hope have never been a scarce commodity awoowe

Puntland's Galgala Security Operation: first hand account
xiinfaniin replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
Jacpher, Faroole's strategy was wise; it was wise to let the elders talk to Atom, it was wise to communicate western intelligences that his matter is under control, and it was wise to give time to local efforts. that is why this thing lasted this long. this is very small conflict, and Puntland was never under threat from it to begin with...but an armed group with questionable allegiances so close to the economy life line of Puntland was hard to tolerate ... -

in principle, I am with faroole on this. I may disagree on tactics, but this Atom guy and his melitia are no farmers peacefully residing on Galgala, he represents an entity that is challenging an established authority ... -

^^It’s good that you got my point. I am more concern with the fake notes that got through from Galkacyo airport, and what it will do to Puntland's economy, not to mention the precedence it will set. You should be too.

Atom is an isolated man, his threats are not credible; he neither has a base to attack from nor resources to threaten Puntland. He has been there and no new development to my knowledge has transpired to warrant your exuberance. So it’s an exaggeration, and misleading to suggest Puntland’s existence is at stake because of Atom. At worst, it’s a police work. Preferably the elders would get the boy out of the mountain he has been camping … Marka yaanan buunbuunin waxaan buurnayn awoowe

waryaaya ma threadka ii daysaan oo meelaha la aadaan bacoola guradka. Sharif’s leadership is being questioned. His skills to lead are what on the scale. We measured him and found short of what the moment requires. He has been static, stuck with one single script, whilst the dimensions of the conflict changed, and the scope widened. It’s one thing to cooperate with the relevant powers to ensure that gradual revival of our state is realized. It’s totally another to seek cues, and guidance from those whose interests are vested in our conflict. It’s one thing to speak language of reconciliation, seek peace and dialogue with your opponents. Totally another to be overrun, and almost defeated, not by foreign, invading forces but by a young, relatively untrained youths with no comprehensive agenda for Somalia. This is the verdict of time. It does not mean one hates the man for clannish reasons. It does not mean one was naïve to begin with. Ps stop these silly comparisons ya jamaacah

That Sharif has failed is not a moot point. When I said by any standard, I meant it. Politically, militarily, and otherwise, the man has greatly disappointed in the utter failure he presided. His failure is political in nature; it does not entail criminality however. I still believe he is a good person as an individual.

New President Silaanyo Must give proper representation to reer sool
xiinfaniin replied to Qudhac's topic in Politics
snippets of Siilaanyo policy script...it was expected, but will it ever work in the context of separatist vs unionist? One knew all along that sooner or latter secessionist excitement will hit the bottom and ‘way duushay’ delusional crowd will run out of stamina. But storing the equilibrium is not going to be easy, especially when so many were led to believe the nonsense of being a separate country. It’s a brick wall. And Siilaanyo knows it. Now begins the hard work of reversing it. It starts with normalizing relationship with neighboring regions…it’s the second home coming. -
…but the Caravan was a great ride In all seriousness, and by any standard, Sharif has failed to size the historical moment he was afforded with, not by particular skills of his, but by fate. In his tenure as TFG leader, millions of dollars has been spent, hundreds of lives lost, and thousands more injured, and many properties destroyed not to expand the TFG authority as done in the past or complete the reconciliation process, but to defend a mere presidential perimeter. His nice utterances have not been matched with the practical strategies the task of reviving Somalia required. Two years are gone by, and the man still talks empty, even when he is at loss of words he has the audacity to mumble the nonsense of securing Mogadishu or defeating alshabaab. The failure is clear, and it’s one of leadership. What is lamentable is the fact he seems not to know when to quit, as any wise man would’ve done. Granted he is no man of qabiil, has no warlord tendency, and he is blessed with that human stroke of innocence, but he lacks the seriousness and the urgency, which the situation requires. And that is the biggest of factor in his colossal failure in leading. Surely the momentum is with alshabaab, politically and militarily and especially in the south, but they are not invincible. Somalia’s Muslim scholars from Hargeysa, to Boosaaso, to Mogadishu have played their role albeit belatedly and made clear that alshabaabs way is not the way as they have no credence from the religion in whose name they fight. Alas only if a man with the right qualities to capture this moment emerges… As one talks to Somalis, one contemplates the possibility of them becoming swallowed in prevailing spheres of influences ie Ethiopia, and Kenya, and not ever coming back to any appreciable significance. Such was the fate of many nations before us as history teaches us…
