  1. It’s futile exercise to fight Alshabaab in Southern regions in the current political climate. Two years of conflict in Benaadir provided amble evidence that the current strategy to react to Alshabaab’s advances wont work. Alshabaab’s perception of justice, it appears, has a deeper resonance with average person than their detractors would admit. That is why even in Beledhawo, Barre Hiiraale could not keep the military gains others handed to him---and that is also true with Benadir. All the AMISOM firepower, and logistical superiority a mechanized army like theirs brings to bear failed to result in significant victory over Alshabaab. Why? Because Alshabaab has superiority over its foes in all the essential elements in this conflict: clarity of mission (motivation), recruitment campaign (man power), administration of justice (as perceived by layman on the street), and organizational cohesion. Perhaps TFG should admit these apparent advantages Alshabaab has over them, and redraw the map if they could. If not, they should let Alshabaab rule what they have thus far secured, and narrow the theatre of war in the areas they have a shot at competing.
  2. In the long term (i.e. 2012), it is in Obama's interest to lose the control of congress to Republicans. That is how Clinton survived, after the unsightly exposure of Republican farce in 1994-95.

  8. It is amusing to see good NGONGE holding what he could of Ooweyne’s writings---one knew already that the empty didacticism of the man he called ‘the Guru’ had a lasting impression on him . As manifested in America’s recent policy shift toward Somalia, the marriage of the union is strong as ever: it’s a permanent entry in Africa’s regional charter which can hardly be amended as a result of political grievance as genuine as it might be. That is what we said then, and still say---and we were not wrong.
  9. Notwithstanding the gang-signal like secessionist affiliation with Oodweyne here, the absence of Oodweyne from these boards when Somalia’s political events (Somaliland included) are taking a fascinating turn only suggests that he sort of begun to see the writing on the wall as it were as far as the separation of Somalia is concern .

  11. Prometheus, I well come the clarification. Though I still think my preceding dress down of your sweeping dig is what extracted it from you---such is the consequence of statements made in hasty calculation. Rag baa meesha kula jooga ee ogow adeer.
  12. Prometheus , stop the swagger plz. Apparently you are resolved to misunderstand the ‘medieval authors’ for whom you created this thread to dig at them. This is typical of the rejectionist-front you seem to represent, the educated bigots who burry their prejudice in these sort of discussions succeed only to bring their literalist side to the fore. The sacred texts provided legal, spiritual, and social guidelines in big strokes, and the learned communities labored to elucidate, and draw practical applications from it. And the man who embodied it all proved that genuine, authentic implementation of the sacred teachings is unimpeachable. There he was having nine wives, leading a life full of harmony that was characterized with stability and profound intimacy. The emancipation of women folk western liberal icons celebrate today, had indeed begun long before by the very man you seem to have cowardly charged to be the counselor of violence toward women! Only if you bring yourself to employ a little decorum and eject a measurable degree of intellectual honest in what you write, you would be that much credible awoowe…
  13. Women are not like children. Women have different roles than men, and that is the only difference between the two. The natural disposition of women is to nurture; rear children, make home, and provide emotional function to harmonize the family. Men contribute and excel in different ways or at least are well positioned to play different roles to achieve similar goals. They would be supposedly good at providing security and bread…in other words they supposed to assume leadership capacity. That is the 30 thousand feet view. But the relationship between the two is not as binary as the above generalization may imply. Can women discipline men? Yes they sure could. But that discipline may not come in a physical fashion. Beating your wife is a primitive thought. Only failed men resort to such a tactic. Ps. I have seen women who beat their men. One guy I know took a lot of beating from his reer miyi, ignorant wife, who perhaps thought if she does not get beat, she may as well play the role and do the beating herself. The marriage did not last long.

  15. October 20, 2010 NPR Fires Analyst Over Comments on Muslims By BRIAN STELTER NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel. NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night. The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill O’Reilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a “Muslim dilemma.” Mr. O’Reilly said, “The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.” Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. O’Reilly. He continued: “I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.” Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. “He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts,” Mr. Williams said. NPR said in its statement that the remarks “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.” The public radio organization said it thanked him for many years of service. Mr. Williams did not immediately respond on Wednesday night to an e-mail seeking comment. Mr. Williams’s contributions on Fox raised eyebrows at NPR in the past. In February 2009, NPR said it had asked that he stop being identified on “The O’Reilly Factor” as a “senior correspondent for NPR,” even though that title was accurate. Alicia C. Shepard, the NPR ombudswoman, said at the time that Mr. Williams was a “lightning rod” for the public radio organization in part because he “tends to speak one way on NPR and another on Fox.” Ms. Shepard said she had received 378 listener e-mails in 2008 listing complaints and frustrations about Mr. Williams.
  16. Sharif is in a tough position now, politically and militarily. However you are hardly an impartial analyst on the man, Duke. His stance on Caddaado was politically inline with the core strategy of the tfg project: reach out to the friendly, clan based admins in Central regions, ahlusunnah militias included. Cadaado was in the hands of such admin, and Abdi Shukri’s attack on it cried for condemnation, which Sharif readily did. On Beled-hawo though, it is alshabaab vs. other forces. It’s different.
  17. ^^Sharif Ahmed is busy with how to get his new PM confirmed. Besides, given the situation he finds himself, his primary concern is understandably Mogadishu security.
  18. Ciidamada Ethiopia oo degmada Beledxaawo duqeeyey iyo dagaalka oo istaagay Posted by Gedo Thursday, October 21 @ 15:21:14 EDT Warar faahfaahsan ayaa ka soo baxayo dagaalkii kululaa ee caawo ka qarxay magaalada xuduuda ku taalla ee Beledxaawo, halkaasoo ay si daran hubka waa weyn isugu garaaceen, magaaladana la dhaceen ciidamo DKMG oo ay wehliyaan Ahlu-Sunna Wal-Jameeca wada socda iyo kuwa Al-Shabaab. Goor dhaweyd ayuu dagaalku soo gabagaboobay, xiriirro dhowr ah oo ay Shabakaddan sameysay dad ku sugan magaalada gudaheeda ayaa xaqiijiyey in dagaalku dhimasho iyo dhaawac badan sababay, laakiin aan la kala garin karin cidda geeriyootay, maadaamaa ay habeen tahay. Sida ay dad xog-ogaal ah noo sheegeen ciidamada Ethiopia ayaa dhanka degmada Doolow ka soo duqeeyey Beledxaawo, iyagoo ku garaacay qori uu kamid yahay BM. Hooyo magaceeda ka gaabsatay oo aan qadka telephone-ka kula xiriirnay iyadoo qax ku timid degmada deriska ah ee Mandheere ayaa sidatan u sheegtay Gedoweb:- ''Eedoy labadii saac iyo barkii ayaan Mandheere lug ku nimid markii aan aan ka joogsan weynay Axmaarada oo soo rideysay BM oo guryaha qaar ku dhacay, wax dhintay iyo wax kalana ma garan karno, laakiin dagaal weyn baa dhacay''. Mar aan weydiinay in ay iyada indhaheeda ku aragtay ciidamada Ethiopia ayey sheegtay in aanay waxbo arag, laakiin ay madaafiic ka soo tuurayaan dhinaca Doolow. Warar is-khilaafsan ayaa ka soo baxayo cidda gacanta ku heyso magaalada, xogaha qaar waxay tilmaamayaan in maleeshiyada Al-Shabaab qabsatay, halka warar kalana ay sheegayaan in wali labada dhinac ay degmada dhexdeeda isku hor-fadhiyaan. Xuduuda u dhexeysa Beledxaawo iyo Mandheere waxaa ay dowladda Kenya geysay ciidamada GSU-da loo yaqaano, dad ka firxanayo colaadda jirta ayaa si dhuumaaleysi ah ku galayo Mandheere. 21. ^^You told us many things that proved to be a wishful thinking. This one is in the news and we refuse to take your word for it As for SSC, apparently you think LA’s current political bubble is a good investment. It is also evident that you deny the existence of SCC military wing, which the Hargeysa admin, out of desperation, calls terrorist.
