  1. Sharif's reason to oppose 1- Kenya persisted on demarcation of Somalia's territorial waters 2- Kenya formed clannish militia and a brand new regional state to further its interest 3- Kenya unilaterally invaded the worst famine hit area in the region, putting civilian at risk For those reasons, Kenya cannot be trusted , and must be opposed
  2. Somali President Ahmed opposes Kenyan troop incursion Monday, October 24, 2011 Somalia's President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed has said his transitional government is opposed to Kenya's military incursion into Somalia. Just over a week ago Kenya sent soldiers over its border into Somalia to pursue militants from the Islamist al-Shabab group . It blames the insurgents for a spate of recent kidnappings near the border, which al-Shabab denies. Nairobi said the deployment was done with the Somali authorities' approval. For more than two years, President Ahmed's weak UN-backed interim government has been battling al-Shabab, an al Qaeda-linked group which controls much of south and central Somalia. His government relies on a 9,000-strong Africa Union force for its security in the capital, Mogadishu. Air raids Speaking to journalists at the scene of recent fighting in Mogadishu, Mr Ahmed said Kenyan support in terms of training and logistics was welcome but his government and the people of Somalia were opposed to the presence of the Kenyan army. The BBC's East Africa correspondent, Will Ross, says his comments put the Kenyan government in a very difficult position. It is possible that the Somali authorities have spoken out because they are opposed to the idea of Kenya helping to establish a semi-autonomous region in Somalia known as Jubaland, he says. This is seen by some as the main aim of the Kenyan government's military incursion, our correspondent says. Last week, a Somali general told the BBC his troops were working with Kenyan forces advancing from the border towards the port city of Kismayo. On Sunday there were aerial bombardments on Kismayo, an economic stronghold of al-Shabab. The Kenyan army told the BBC that a military base belonging to al-Shabab was hit, but the militants said no damage had been caused. Kenyan army spokesman Maj Emmanuel Chirchir would not confirm whether Kenyan or other allied forces had carried out the raid. He told AP news agency that the French navy had bombed the town of Kuda along the coast from Kismayo on Saturday night. Last week, al-Shabab lost control of the coastal town of Ras Kamboni after attacks by the Kenyan navy and a local militia. The French authorities said they had learnt last week that a Frenchwoman kidnapped from Kenya by Somali gunmen earlier in the month had died. Other foreigners being held in Somalia include a British woman abducted from a coastal resort and a Kenyan driver and two Spanish aid workers seized from the Dadaab refugee camp near the Kenya-Somalia border. Al-Shabab has threatened reprisal attacks in Kenya if the troops do not leave. Kenya's police chief says a grenade attack overnight in Nairobi which injured 12 people in a nightclub could not be linked to the militant group.

  6. ^^Which is secessionist's deepest wish
  7. Secessionists are getting desperate these days
  8. Perhaps the Azania project promises deliverables that justifies Kenya's seemingly dangerous venture. That Sharif has spoken against it tells me that the stakeholders (those who finance the Somali conflict are not even in agreement on this). But one think is clear; Alshabaab are in a better position than they were prior to Kenya's invasion.
  9. This does not say much Jacayl. Sharif may not be opposing this for nationalistic reasons. I understand that. But oppose he does and is good thing, methinks.
  10. ^^Did they sign an agreement? Please elaborate on that That they were at Villa Somalia only proves that they talked ...not necessarily agreed.
  11. ^^Yes that is the sad thing about this invasion. Somalis are doing well in Kenya. Kenya generally enjoys peace and security...but all of that may change now.
  12. And don't forget, Kenya's invasion will also serve a perfect cover for other foreign intelligence, and local saboteurs to do their deeds as well as Alshabaab will be blamed for all insecurities in Kenya.
  13. Madaxweynaha dowladda KMG Soomaaliya oo hadal qaaday intii uu ku guda jiray booqashada maanta uu ku tagay degmada Dayniile ciidamada dowladda Kenya ee soo galay Soomaaliya ayaa waxa uu sheegay in dadka siyaabo kala duwan ay fusirteen arintaasi, waxaana uu sheegay in dowladda aysan raali ka noqoneen wax shaki keeni kara islamarkaana wax u dhimaya xiriirka labada dal ee Soomaaliya iyo Kenya, isagoo sheegay inay xad gudub tahay in Kenya ay ku dhaqaaqdo wax dowladda aysan ka warqabin. Understandably a weak position from Sharif but a correct one nevertheless. Kenya's invasion will only strengthen Alshabaab, not weaken it.
  14. How can we forget, Gaddafi sided with Ethiopia in 1977 war. He did not lift a finger for Somalia and Somalis after our state failed. And he could have indeed made a difference had we wanted to do something about Somalia. http://somalitalk.com/2011/10/20/qadaaf/
  15. What Allah gives, Allah takes. Ultimately Gaddafi is to be blamed for the sort of culture of lawlessness and savagery that transpired including the one that took his live. 42 years of acting like a GOD created a false impression of invincibility for him and his family. If his incoherent book is any measure of the thinking of the late Gaddafi, Libyans have indeed endured 42 years of hell. Now what the rebels did is abhorrent and detestable, and it shows their level of ignorance of basic humane treatment. The faith whose adherence they claim prohibits the savagery they recorded. But again they are uninitiated youth in the matter of war and its rules of engagement. They are excitable , young men with no military or administrative training, brought to the fore by a sense of deep injustice. They did what they new the best, they have shown what they've accustomed for and known, which is a raw force and brutality. In other words, their savage acts were straight out of late Gaddafi's script. But one has to respect the man, he did what he said he would do; die fighting for his power. He remained true to his words. Just like Sadam before him, he faced death in the most honorable way. His dead corps might have shown around as a trophy, but the man has indeed died a dignified death. He did not do what the last Muslim Morish Kind did: give the keys of Alhumra Palace to the conquering Christian couple with a humiliating bow. No! Gaddafi died a different death. Libya is similar to Somalia in an unbelievable manner; sizable country with small population located on a very strategic maritime trade route with a population deeply divided on clannish lines. But they are different in fundamental way; they have a natural resource that the world wants. Whether that will play to their advantage or against them remains to be seen. But I am not optimistic on their future.
  16. Uganda and Western contractors want to eat away whatever money donated in the name of Somalia hence the training scheme out of Somalia. But Somali forces going out to train is hundred times better than AMISOM coming to occupy new areas as reported.

AMISOM size should diminish, not increase.
  19. Thankful, a Puntlander, and The Zack, a believer of Prof. Gandi's Academic paper titled 'Azania The State', are resolute in their believe that this Kenyan invasion will usher a new, positive are in Kismayo region. We shall leave time to prove them wrong
  20. ^^With this kind of hatred laden propaganda , God may not bless Somaliland. God heal Somaliland
  21. They lost Kismayo before, Ethiopia captured their regional leader hebel madoobe, and put him in prison. BUT they comeback with vengeance and effectively held the city till today. Why?
  22. Couldn't agree more with Baashe. Spot on analysis of the situation. Thankful, this thread is calling you awoowe
  23. ^^LOL@waa kaad is shubi jirteen. The carab man has indeed learned. The invasion is significant departure of Kenya's foreign policy. Besides the article I posted was timely and did shed light on Kenya's deep, assertive economic interest in Somalia's commercial zone, territorial waters...
