African Union Considers Sending Ethiopian Troops to Somalia
xiinfaniin replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Jacpher, It will be interesting to see how the stances of Kenya cheerleader brigade shift if the alleged Ethiopian invasion materializes. This will be a test for the absurd notion of 'any alternative to Ashabaab is welcome' and 'let anyone come in Somalia and fight Alshabaab' . -
African Union Considers Sending Ethiopian Troops to Somalia
xiinfaniin replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Ethiopians have to interfere to solidify her influence and ensure the new scramble/players do not disturb the favorable political setting that is/has been in place. The only challenge (which is not unique to Ethiopia) is a finance/logistical one. Kenya is facing the same challenge. The African Union/AMISOM cover is a weak one for it self is facing financial constrains for its limited operation in Mogadishu. Admittedly, we are not privy to the behind curtain schemes that may be fueling this new scramble. But one thing is clear; Kenya's invasion has opened the potentiality of giving the conflict a new dimension. -

No doubt that it is a western power that did it. Whether it is France or US, is not clear. Both blame one another for it. I have feeling that had the missile stricken a high value target as they say it would have been the other way around---Both would've claimed credit for it.

US, France Blame One Another for Bombing Southern Somalia Missiles Pounded Afgoye, But Attackers Remain a Mystery by Jason Ditz, November 16, 2011 On Sunday night the southern Somali town of Afgoye, densely populated with refugees since the famine broke out, was pounded with a number of missile strikes, sending civilians scrambling and fueling anger at the international community. Kenya, which is at present invading the region, expressed surprise at the strike, and al-Shabaab militants reported they came not from Kenyan forces, but from a warship off the coast. But whose ship was it? We still don’t know for sure and the two nations who have warships in the region and had been firing missiles against targets in southern Somalia recent, the United States and France, are both denying involvement. Indeed, they’re not just denying involvement, but both US and French spokesmen suggested that the other country was probably responsible for the attack, which didn’t actually appear to have killed anybody but caused considerable panic. The US said it was likely France, citing French warships near the site of the attack. France, for its part, insisted that there were no warships in the area and the strike “appeared to be a US operation.” Kenya insisted that it wasn’t them (and indeed the Kenyan military isn’t believed to have the sort of precision needed to launch such strikes), but declined to speculate who it might be.

Zack, you cannot argue with Gabal (Horn) when it comes to Kismayo. His assertions are so out of touch with the reality of the region that no sane person can have a decent conversation with him. He attaches his clan with a peculiar significance that somehow fails to translate into a political reality in the region . Contrary to Che's insinuations, the debate Xiin has been having with a number of people have never been about clan control of Kismayo. That I answered Gabal's 'H' periphery nonsense does not mean that the development with Kenya's invasion is driven by clannish competition. The fact of the matter is Alshabaab is in control of that region, and just like before, foreign invasion is attempting to dislodge them not to help Somalia but to create a buffer zone for its own interest. It's my believe in the south at least clan wars have been greatly reduced by the presence of Alshabaab, and it is unlikely that such wars will reignite anytime soon. In the mean time let Gabal oppose TFG in a one second, and pin the hopes of his clan on a secret TFG machination that will result in Gedo boys ascendancy, in next second

Somaliland president Ahmed Siilaanyo meets Uk government officials
xiinfaniin replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
^^LOL Remember few weeks back, Siilaanyo was touring 'front lines', adopting a warlord like posture only to fail to affect reactions where it mattered most. It was that aftermath that the Imaam embarked a well coordinated diplomatic trip, meeting ministers and policy makers right in the Queens land. With Ceerigaabo in the background, and Taleex being the venue of the expected Khaatumo Grand conference, it is time for the old man to follow Faroole's lead. -

If Kenya Succeeds, Who Will Rule the Jubbas?
xiinfaniin replied to Mintid Farayar's topic in Politics
^^ @sane people All indications are that Kenyan invasion may not work as planned or have the desired effect. Alshabaab are puritanic forces that could hardly be defeated by raw force. So the Kenyan invasion may not be a game changer after all. Also if history is any guide, religious movements are never defeated by force. Even Taliban are winning back the lands they lost previous years. The crusaders with an amazing small number of force (60 thousand) were able to traverse the vast lands of Muslim territories till they reached Jerusalem undefeated. -

^^Oh now you doubt my debating skills I think you are hurt. That is why it is never safe to choose a call girl as profession , you do other men's bidding , and there is a risk of becoming a victim. I don't believe Foodleys have the capacity to read this forum for years without participation , I think you are just tryin' deflect the heat of being called out for what you are , a Foodley troll -
