Mooge is clearly in a campaign spirit. But I do not fear any of the candidates , none of them present a danger to the road map process, or post transition direction of the country. I could care less who wins or loses. I will be surprised if a certain candidate loses given the stack of factors currently in place that favor him.

Samatar is not getting the support of all of these candidates. This is a mutual , underdog agreement to demand transparency...

My candidate has been and remains to be the road map to transition the country to a permanent government. With the passage of the draft constitution, the pending selection of members of the parliament, and the looming speakership and presidential elections , Somalia has indeed made a great stride toward political stability and normalcy. The road map is succeeding...it will come to fruition insha allaah. If you look at the headlines, presidential hopefuls are pouring into Mogadishu, the capital, to compete for the votes of the new parliamentarians. With them comes campaign cash, which will be spent in transportation, housing, and other logistics, helping the economy of the city. It is all good and positive. Sharif , Gaas, Farmaajo, and Sakiin are all Somalis , each is qualified to do the job. But Somalia is greater than them , and she will rise and thrive ...

Macallin was a respected elder and dhariiqa leader. He had numerous dugsi-quran centers in Mogadishu before the fall of Somali government. If it is true , it is sad that his religious legacy is exploited and his centers serve recruit bases for western intelligence

The battle of constitution is decisively won by those favoring federalism as the future structure of Somalia. Congrats from Garowe and Hargeysa, and deafening silence from Mogadishu is clear sign with respect to the passage of the constitution. Sharif has ( I believe ) the support of the certain stake holders, he has the home turf, he has the money and the political machine to win this thing in the next few weeks. In the current field of candidates , I do not see a real competitor. One factor though is whether the rumored corruption charges materializes...

But America's terror-fighting strategy in the Horn coupled with ever increasing Turkish interest in Mogadishu suggests this is no time for a new comer. Trained, and trusted, Sharif offers continuity. The other Sharif Hasan from Baydhabo, and the Harvard educated Prime Minister fail on the Clan balance measure. Puntland (where the prime minister hails) were given the lead to flesh out the framework by which Somalia ends the transition, and on the bases of which a new republic is constituted. Faroole judiciously chose to lead on that account , but the price was to concede the leadership to the H community in the next five years or so. Our good Professor. Abdiweli, despite the well-wishing diaspora, faces this firmly set clannish setting as he rolls the dice. In 2012 Mogadishu, and with a community that lacks a unifying leadership, Sharif is the man to beat in this August election.
