^^Very resonating with the average men and women

Duke posted while i was typing.... Cabdiweli just like Sharif referred working with other regions and states, and safeguarding the constitution. This is a prerequisite for a stable Somalia. His pledge to do census is key to settle issues pertaining equity and justice. Farmaajo's emphasis on what he has done during his tenure is strategic pivot to give his promises an aura of believability. He has not however offered a remedy to his short falls with respect to the relationship he had or not had with other regions such as Puntland and Somaliland.

It is interesting Caddow has pledged to safeguard the new constitution considering the perception that he is indeed not happy with the federalism framework the new constitution espouses. Sharif Ahmed has the credibility to say what he said. His is a more mature speech with tangible points and programs. The power of incumbency and the benefit of having the experience to govern. I expect Abdiweli and Farmaajo to put some meat on the accomplishments Sharif spoke to.

Kismayo War Imminent; Kenya Deploys Special Forces
xiinfaniin replied to Somalia's topic in Politics
Kismayo will not easily fall ...sadly the damage has already been done as the residents were forced to flee. Alshabaab are wounded, and the wounded, as the cliche goes, is ever more dangerous. News feeds indicate that instead of fleeing into the jungle , they dug their feet deeper , waiting for the enemy to arrive at the outskirts of the city. Not sure if the carnage that will follow is something Kenyans have stomach for -
There are only 3 serious candidates on this list, the rest are either angling for the pm position or seeking a cabinet post. The first round will be the most interesting for me...

Sheikh Sharif's Website (and a couple serious others)
xiinfaniin replied to NGONGE's topic in Politics
lol@NGONGE wax waalan. After 42 years, since Somalia had an election, Monday is shaping up to be a historic moment for Somalis where ever they are. Sharif , Gaas, Farmaajo, Baadiyow and Caddow are candidates to watch. Not to mention the ghost of Sharif Hassan in the new parliament... -
Inka badan 11-Musharax oo iska soo xulaya Xubno u matala Doorashada
xiinfaniin replied to malistar2012's topic in Politics
Win or lose, Sharif has been very helpful in the transitional process ,his style and personality played a positive role in implementing the road map, ending the transition. From the ultimate outcast, the head of what the West called an extremist group, to the embodiment of compromise, the leader who swallowed the pride of his community, reluctantly accepting federalism as the the political framework to end the transition, Sharif has indeed done a great good for his country. He would have been a great legend and statesman if he allowed his tenure to end with a positive, triumph note, and stepped aside for other leaders to rise. However he chose as he has the right to contend to lead the country in the next four years. His political skills will be put to the test. Lets hope September 10th will be remembered the day Somalia's political system reached a climax of maturity. Lets hope for the best. -

He never had much support from his larger clan base, contrary to popular beliefs, save those who he used to pay well. Nonetheless, they supported his presidential aspirations in the name of their clan. Now, however, he is capitalizing their disillusioned state against Jawaari and wants to create this so-called maamul goboleed. Kenya is first step oo laga dhaadhacsiiyo this project of his. Sanaawi would have been the first to get a visit if he was alive, but to him Kenya is more urgent now since they are backing Asaaniya. If he succeeds this, Jawaari is finished. I hope he doesn't. Confirms what I have been hearing. 'Jawaaris is finished' means, I gather, his influence as a politician would be greatly diminished if Sharif Hassan gets a third political life.

Sakiin will eventually punish some one for his loses. the question is who was responsible the engineering of Sakiin's political downfall and the loss of his candidate for speakership? It is also important to note that Sharif Sakiin is able politician and shrewd one at that. He-is-selling-the-sea nonsense does not and will not work. He is there to play political ball. Internet portals, I am afraid, wont stop him. Was it Sharif Ahmed or Abdiweli who caused Sakiin's scheme to fail? Jawaari is a factor now. It is therefore also important who will he support in this contest? All in all, this is interesting stuff.

^^Only if you could reconcile your cynicism and your supposedly 'rigorous analysis' on Somalia's political situation with your rosy picture on the politics of your Somaliland enclave, your 'can't see past his nose' comment would have a weight awoowe

NGONGE believes Somaliland is a country and says he has unshakable faith in its' system', but sees the positive movement in Somalia as marry-go-around and those who support it as crazy Yet he is asking objectivity and a reasonable debate from the fora

Somali Warlords; from Stalin to Mickey Mouse...
xiinfaniin replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Duke, The dreaded warlords will constitute less 5% of the parliament , so what is the fuss awoowe. It takes away the excuses and quiets down some corners. The federalism formula has overran warlord ambitions where ever they are ...so I have no worries -
This is actually a good development ---it does away with what has been shaping up to become a unnecessary grievance from certain community. Such twists to the rules are unwarranted in this late of the game ... Somalia has moved forward thusly one needs to welcome the political progress taking place in Mogadishu. To witch-hunt now is to miss the big picture.
