  1. This is the last kicks of a dying horse. The notion of a Somaliland entity fighting for colonial borders will be over soon. Somaliland elites will commence soon for a face saving campaign to convince Khatumo to be allies again in the face of looming federal Somalia, and the diminishing of Somaliland's outsized role to its natural role....
  2. ^^Oodweyne, I perfectly understand the political dynamics and clannish settings of Kismayo. And believe me the demands of Mogadishu will be along the lines of sharing the revenues of city's prized harbor and airport , and from commerce activities of its two borders. And that is something that Kismayo administration will be readily satisfy. In other words, there will not be any contest from Mogadishu to put Kismayo in its sphere of influence. This assummes Mogadishu itself remains in the hands of certain communities and has not been redefined politically to become more inclusive, For if that has been achieved , it will go long way to resolve the mistrust that is the bedrock of this federalism political arrangement. As for Gabal's folks and their role, a lot has changed, and there is a reason why SOL is not witnessing the political infighting that characterized Kismayo politics amongst Dukes, Gabals, and Professor Abtigiis's of the region. The challenges have been redefined, and a new scheme has been set up to deal with you and Abwaans ...so update yourself waryaa
  3. You must admire secretly the political skills of those you call 'pirate-lan' You should learn from them; they have achieved two political milestones of national priority flawlessly, 1) containing SNM phantasy lest they continue the madness of closing an artificial border, 2) rescuing the USC type in Mogadishu from the twenty year gloom they found themselves in after declaring to have vanquished certain communities from the political parlance of the country. Oodweyne, believe me despite NGONGE's effort to moderate your cynicism, you will be proved right that the recognition bid of Somaliland will be conclusively declared as null and void in a manner of months , not years. And someone will have to be credited for that unionist accomplishment ...
  4. ^^Mogadishu is mine and Hassan is my leader. But the settlement of Somali civil war shall prevail regardless of later day nationalists's wishes of recreating a state that they helped destroy in a manner that is out of sync the post civil war political realities.
  5. Oodweyne, no I don't understand the argument you are trying to advance. Kismayo will be impacted by federal government as much as Puntland will be. There is nothing unique about Kismayo that makes it vulnerable to Mogadishu dictation.
  6. ^^No. You are wrong here. Puntland expected the world recognition post transition and sees it as a victory for Somalia. Internal politicking ala Kismayo, federalism is something Puntland proudly plays very well, but national achievement like the one announced last week in Washington is a shared milestone for all Somalis.
  7. Haatu, dhan iskugu bayr Waxaan waxbaan ka ogohay , haygu qabsan awoowe
  8. Oodweyne, I said Kismayo will have a relationship that is no different that of which other regions will have the central government. If you really think Hassan sheekh will appoint a governer from Mogadishu to administer Kismayo, then you are out of it awoowe

Eng.Cadde;911119[/quote wrote: xiin Maxaa USC meesha keenay,if you really believe adigoo nugaal ka yimi inaad kismayo iga xigtid ama marti aan kugu noqonayo then a rude awakening is in store for you. I am not from Nugaal. Secondly, I am from Mogadishu, a city I deem too USCed to live in. Instead, I am interested to stabilize Kismayo where my parents had properties in 1960s , and be a good regional neighbor with the Abwaans, Eng. Caddes of this world in Mogadishu.
  10. Oodweyne, It appears we are not that far apart in your evaluation of the Kismayo issue and ultimate outcome that could be reasonably expected. Kismayo will have every right Puntland has , and that is the expectation of Jubba's political stakeholders. No one denies the significance of Mogadishu as the center of Somalia's Federal Government. The rest is Oodweyne talk
  11. ^^There will be another Puntland in Kismayo. The more Mogadishu based USC talks about it, the more imboldened Kismayo admin proponents will become. The injection of Irir politics will only resolve the determination of those wanting to form a state in Kismayo. Marka is gaabi waryaa
  12. ^^LOL@dhurwaaga Eng. Cadde is the remnant of USC, after decades of war and destruction he is still thirsty for destroying more. But as you noted, he in in the minority and the political realities has changed, considerably.
  13. ^^ :D One would think Xaaji Xunjuf would be busy discussing Kulmiye's ever shifting strategy toward Somalia Adeer we just met with Hassan , and his ministers. Kismayo is not an issue, Hargeysa is.
  14. ^Oba, On Kismayo, we are not. You harbor USC ambitions that have been proved ineffective and quite regressive.
  15. Great development. I am sure Oba will not like it. and it will give XX nightmares
  16. Oba, The interior ministry has constitutional responsibility to coordinate the formation of federal states, clarify the relationship between the federal government and federal states and recomend administrative structures for Somali regions unable to form federal states. There is nothing new there. It is something to be welcomed. If one thinks this announcement will change anything in the political equation that cleverly set up in Kismayo one is clearly in a day dream.
  17. Faroole and his Puntland understood the political chess well before our brothers in the North started taking the 101 course in London. Puntland's foot print is in the constitution, they were major stakeholders, and played a prominent role in shaping how Somalia settles the civil war and ends the transition. I trust Oodweyne knows that much. Why would anyone feigns surprise in Puntland welcoming US recognition while it was apparent the whole objective of ending the transition was to gain recognition is beyond me. Some people need to give Puntland some credit methinks.
  18. The minister of interior has the responsibility to coordinate the formation of federal states. This announcement is within constitution. Eng. Cadde, Qof xanuunsan baad tahay adeer. Garisa is a code word for those who reside in Jubbas. Ilaahay kala hadal why certain groups happen to reside with numerical significance in certain, strategic regions.
  19. Oodweyne, The issue of Kismayo goes far beyond Madoobe or any one individual. President Hassan has come to appreciate the sensitivity surrounding this issue. The constitution will serve the final arbiter to settle the relationship between Kismayo and Mogadishu. Think of it this way: Kismayo will for sometime serve the political center for those whom you term as 'the defeated lot' . Hassan knows that reality and will in the end accept it as such. This talk of Mogadishu administering Kismayo is nonsense and will not advance any Somali agenda.
  20. ^^The people however are no match with the Western style Byzantine political machination that is underway with respect to Somalia. With Famine, Alshabaab, and Piracy, Somalia has become a inconvenient thorn on the side of the most powerful nations.
  21. A reassesment on Oodweyne's capacity to appraise current leaders with respect to attaining recognition is due on my part. The rest are still singing with the birds...hence the false hope of getting recognition even in the face of US's water shed policy change lives on.
  22. The president was well received in Minneapolis, and seemed much energized (even surprised) by the reception he got. In this morning’s breakfast, he felt at home and spoke genuinely about what he thinks current challenges facing his government are. I was not there last night but I was told he did a good job clarifying the Kismayo issue and invited those protesting outside to come in side and have a dialogue with him. He characterized the whole Kismayo fiasco an unfortunate characterization of his true stance on federalism and local governance. He comes across as a very genuine person, authentic leader, who has a vision in the future. I rate him high as a person, and his ability to articulate what he believes. His performance was absolutely superb. There was however an undeniable level of incompetence in his staff and those surrounding him. NO sense of professionalism; an apparent failure to accord him even with basic protocols the office deserves. It was bad …and ended bad.
  23. Despite misgivings on Hassan's attitude toward federalism and the constitution, US recognition of Somalia as the legitimate government of the country is very significant. No credible analyst can down play what transpired yesterday in Washington. It is victory for Somalia. That does not mean Somaliland's demands for political settlement with the south will just go away. I always thought recognition was never in the cards for Somaliland. I would like to believe those in the caliber of Oodweyne and NGONGE also have similar understanding. But this is very important, diplomatic victory for Somalia.
