Mashallah! It seems our resident cyber secessionists are slowly coming to their senses one at a time....lol
  2. If you agree with me, post here once a day everyday until Election day September 10, to keep this view in plain sight on top of the politics page and in the minds of those undecided MPs.
  3. Perceptions matter during election cycles. All Sharif has to do now is have a dozen women and kids march in Mogadishu proclaiming "Gaas wants to sell our sea" or something of that sort, and kapish Mr Gaas gets in the spotlight right when he is trying to lay low and look like the one people should trust instead of that other fella who is marketing warlords.
  4. ^hey, what's this in love with him business you talking About? Farmaajo is a good candidate but please stop with the exaggerations
  5. These are serious rumors and if Gaas does not nip in the bud by making a statement or something he just might give Sharif an advantage going into the election.
  6. LOL @ demarcate clan boundaries Wadani, these clans intermingle too much for that to be feasible. And even if that was possible, what's gonna stop the same clans from further breaking down in sub clans and so forth. With this rational the demarcations will lead to each man getting only his kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Which is why everybody should come to the table and negotiate about peacefully coexisting under our great natural umbrella, Somalia.
  7. ^ So whose fault is that? Surely you cannot blame Puntlanders for being better at the game than others.
  8. ^ ^^ Politics is the art of hypocrisy and we should not act like we are shocked that those who were against AY's warlord infested parliament are now the same ones supporting the addition of this batch to the new parliament. But there is nothing wrong with that. I also believe their addition will neither help nor hinder anyone particular presidential candidate. So all this brouhaha is much ado about nothing.
  9. Qudhac, that has got to be the most delusional thing ever said at SOL...and we have to deal with Abwaan on a regular basis here. You really should receive some sort of exceptional award for that...maybe I'll yank the gold from Abwaan and give it to you. RedSea;862389 wrote: Tilmook, We are waiting for you, my brothers to finally put your acts together, so we can sit down and discuss our future. . While I appreciate your magnanimous offer, RedSea, I will have to decline it on behalf of the Somali peoples for there is nothing generous about it. Somaliland, although unwilling to admit it, is already WITH US. Am sure you will not deny the fact that your Clan elders came down to Mog and selected their mps to represent the Waqooyi galbeed folks and as we speak we have dozens of your reps voting in the first ever parliamentary elections held in post civil war Somalia. So tell me how again are you waiting for "us" to get our acts together when WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER?! Granted, Like Taleexi has said, you have every right to consider to secede your part of the country, but like you guys have a say in Somalia getting its act together, Somalia has an indubitable say in your secessionist aspirations. Inaad taas aqbashaan ayaa horumarka runta-ah lagu gaari karaa.
  10. That's what I'm saying: If it works( and it does seem to be working from the look of things today)--why don't more people accept it for what it is and be more open about it? There should be nothing to be ashamed of, after-all as someone has previously said..."Clan is Everything" in Somalia.
  11. Aaliyyah;862381 wrote: I wonder why they are back after the speaker of the parliament election (ma kuwa wax maqlaya bay aheen). Everything in the somali politics seems so calculated and not taking a natural course. LOL @ natural course. Only if Prof Eagles had won would we then accomplish true feng shui. p.s They are back because their presence was not required for the election of the Speaker to begin. I believe the required percentage of MPs to establish a quorum was already present for the election to proceed.
  12. It's funny how most Somalis interested in our political affairs have embraced it, yet everywhere you look nobody wants to come out openly and say they like it. Is it not the prefect remedy for a clannish society such as ours? Or does the .5 bit seem a little unfair for some people's taste? What's there not to like?
  13. Duke, How is it "a bad move" for Somalia? This warlord talk must stop. Witch hunts will not get us anywhere. Reconciliation, forgiveness and genuine magnanimity is the way forward. Just because it might not be in the interest of your chosen candidate does not mean we should harken back to the finger-pointing and blame game that has set back our nation for so many years.
  14. Maaddeey should lay off the Hyena suqaar ( or whatever else endangered species is on Al Shabab's à la carte menu these days)
  15. ^ We are of the same mind... NGONGE;862337 wrote: Tilamook, I think you're having an entirely different argument there. Carry on, this wasn't my point. I pursue no argument here... I realize things are not easy in Somalia, but like Aristotle said "bring your desires down to your present means. Increase them only when your increased means permit". Thus Xiin is in the right here, your cynicism is "moot"!
  16. Ngonge, it wasn't merely an argument back then but genuine progress when President Yusuf moved the newly formed TFG from Mbagathi to Baidoa and then straight into the eye of the storm--Villa Somalia, where he laid the foundation of the new Somali republic. Ever since then Somalis have come a long way under difficult circumstances in fixing their broken country. Alot has been achieved and we have much much more to do to set our nation aright, but it will take time. Remember Rome was not built in a single day.
  17. ^ No. Those will head home to the caves of Tora Bora...lol

  21. The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow The tide rises, the tide falls, The twilight darkens, the curlew calls; Along the sea-sands damp and brown The traveler hastens toward the town, And the tide rises, the tide falls. Darkness settles on roofs and walls, But the sea, the sea in the darkness calls; The little waves, with their soft, white hands, Efface the footprints in the sands, And the tide rises, the tide falls. The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls; The day returns, but nevermore Returns the traveler to the shore, And the tide rises, the tide falls.
  22. ^ lol...Abwaan has become a true entertainer these last couple of days.
