Even when I thought he wasn't muslim, i sympathized with him.No one should like that way, it's really sad. I remember I was thinking why if he says shahada before he dies, and alhamdulilah he died muslim. May Allah grant him peace, and his family , ameen.

Oh yeah, I like to be a trendsetter, I don't like to look like everyone else, so I always find things that make me feel "unique"...then the next day I see a girl doing my style.
-
Girl, nothing is wrong with changing things a bit. I get bored at having the same style, and I for one like to evolve with how my tastes change. Doesn't have anything to do with identity issues. And if anyone thinks that, oh well that's how the world is, everyone has some negativity to add to your character...blah blah blah heard it all.Next!

Typical indeed, the same old cultural ethnocentrism, where "other" peoples' ways of life are often demonized.

Jimcaale, I don't like to say i'm from "puntland" or "somaliland" for all I'm concerned with Somaliland is my country, Puntland is my country, ****** is my country, Kismaayo is my country...Somalia is my country. When I say "cultural muslims" I mean people that mix culture and Islam up, and we do that, don't deny it.I am making a general statement, not individual basis. We just stopped fircooni style circumsion of females because alot of people thought it was "wajib" in Islam.

Cambarro, I know this because I been to somalia, and even though most people there will tell you it's not true, it's a "ceeb" for women to drive. LOL.Wow, I guess they think women can't drive well or something. Nur, I am not anti-Sharia, I support sharia 110%, and if the Islamic Courts in Mogadishu are going to give women freedom and not oppress them, alhamdulilah that is what sharia is, Islam came here to free us from darkness, and insha'Allah I hope that is what happens. I hope Somalia becomes a beacon of hope for the Islamic world. Insha'Allah.

^I tend to get bored with one place.
-
^I agree Justice, they tend to use an 'outdated' saudi system, even saudis aren't using it.Ha!God Save Somalia from the madness of madmen.

Wow Rudy, good to hear you made it through all those unfortunate events in your life. Well, the highest point of my life was seeing my grandmother, it was the first time I felt I was whole, and I had a family.

With all this attention in the Islamic Courts in Mogadishu, Somalia is becoming more and more "wadaad-ized." Although I hope the ICM are going to do a better job than the first warload regime there, I'm very concerned for my country. Somalia was one of the African countries that was 'high class', women had rights. Today, I don't see that. Of course with all that happened in the past 15 years, we can expect all this negativity towards women, who are in most cases the victims in those kinds of situations. Women can't dress the way they want in Somalia, they can't drive. Even though there is no law like Saudi Arabia that says they can't drive, it is the silent norm. Women are the ones who have been making progress in the country with their contributions to the economy, yet they never even get to be in the political progress. Even in America, Somalis are very 'wadaadized', although most are cultural muslims, there is this silent tone that says you can't leave the norm. I don't have a problem with wadaads, but I have a problem when people hinder the rights of others in the name of "wadaadism."

Hi, I'm back after some break from the "net". But, I have noticed that somalis have major identity issues. Alot of the somali girls I know act like they are arabs. It's quite annoying. Arabs view somalis as being inferior, yet I see so many of them kissing fuuto. This arab girl said, I'm glad somalis and us wear our hijabs differently, because alot of people confuse us. LOL. Why must we wear their attire to be "good muslims"? Some somali people are so unaware of racism it's funny. I personally don;t like arabs, especially the ones I come into contact with. I'm sure there are nice ones out there, but I rather be friends with a regular white person. I think they have serious superiority complex. Why are we losing our africaness to be closer to arabs who hate africans. I think all africans are brainwashed to the max (except Me).
-
Ok, I'm sure there are some somalis who have some type of arabic lineage, however, is that relevant? No. Most arabs these days are very racialized, I'm pretty sure they look down on somali people, and few them as being "inferior".I really don't think it's important where you're from, if you are a muslim(not cultural muslim)who follows the sunnah, that is all that matters.People care about appearance so much it's almost sickening sometimes, it's sad to see how we somalis are just as brainwashed as everyone else in this God forsaken place.

Sickening! These savages are sick, why did they kill an innocent old lady. I condemn that.

I'm just glad I know who my enemies are, devilangel...thanks for exposing yourself, I now know who you are "ms.giggles".
-
I'm glad what Devilangel typed was deleted. I also know her very well, she is this skinny girl, that wears her khimar back.I would describe her to be one of those reer badiyo girls who are confused/lost about being in a civilized society, and have superficial ideas about being "ilbax". She is one of those girls that is pretty much fruitless to begin with, shallow and very superficial. Yes, I'm articulate...alhamdulilah, in real life too, and I am who I am. I don't understand why someone would attack a person directly if the post wasn't really about me...I just gave an example of a racist teacher.Devilangel, I'm anything but weak (I have went through many struggles and prevailed), if you really know me and feel that I'm like that I hope you continue to remain s t u p i d because I don't want you to know me to begin with. I never dim down if anyone gets to my face, no girl has ever gotten in my face before.Secondly, you say because I dropped the class because "i was intimidated"...yes I was, because I know some professors fail people based on them not liking you. I didn't need to argue, there are many options out there, so why should I sit with a teacher whom I consider to be racist? I don't care if anyone knows me, I know who I am, and I'm secure in who I am. You obviously have issues that you need to work through.
-
You people can say all you want about me being "weak" , but you don't know the situation. I was paying for the class, I deserved to be treated like I was. Anyways, I don't shut up to things like that, alot of people just want to remain quite about everything, I'm not that type of person, if I see something wrong...I try to fix it.No Jim Lee, we are the same people. Yes, we have the same coloring, but we have different histories.

^That's your opinion.Just to let you know, african americans hate your guts too.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see the day full figured models are walking the runway. Tastes change, one day it's stick figure, tomorrow it's curvy.
-
You know, sometimes I find it amazing that people that went through racism, oppression and slavery would be more tolerating of others. I don't think I can say that for most African Americans. They hate every group, from asians, arabs, bosnians, nigerians, liberians, ethiopians...they never get along with any group. I know I'm generalizing, but it's a common trend I noticed.
-
Firstly, I have no fear to stand up for any beliefs I have, secondly you got to play smart in college. If it wasn't for watching my GPA, I would've taken that class using pass/fail. It was an elective anyways, and experience showed me, if you don't like a professor, change to a different professor. I ended up emailing her, telling her to respect students and their opinions, and to not shove her religious beliefs down our throats. SHE wasn't even a professor, but a simple "instructor", and she didn't know what the heck she was doing, she can't even speak loudly and clearly. I can only hope when other students take her class, she'll remember me, and not be like that. Castro...I mean more than "whites".
-
I recently had to drop a afro-studies class because of the instructor. I swear when I raised my hand to speak, she was shocked, not only that I contributed something to class, but that I speak english and am inteligent.Surprisingly, she was african american, however, overzealously christian. She was practically trying to convert the class to her beliefs. She chose to target me, and surprising this one obese african american girl had to jump in everytime I said something...to argue with me, even though the other students were saying the same things, but chose me.Not only that, but she kept trying to "correct" me even though it was an opinion...she didn't do that to anyone else. I didn't let her upset me, I continued participating, and sure enough some of my comments shut her up. I proved to her not to generalize, after the end of the class she had no more critiques coming my way. The whole class was almost black, and they were practically giving me the cold shoulder...but surprisingly this white girl was the only one who was normal. I ended up droppin that class because I know she would attempt to fail me. Alot of African Americans are cool people, but the ones I see in college are very racist to african people in general, I think they are being like that because we africans are black, yet at the same time we are doing our thing and succeeding here in america. They are waking up to their brainwashing that africans are "savages, and uneducated", and I hope those type of folks wake up. *sigh*

Polygamy is halaal,so anyone who says otherwise is not following Islam. Of course, you don't have to be in a polygamous marriage. Especially, in the west, alot of women aren't married who are in there 40s...scarcity of men in general.
