  1. Xabad Sowda isn't so 1500 , it's the sunnah for one, and secondly it doesn't have any side affects as long as you don't eat it with an empty stomach.
  2. I don't know what the toothpaste commercial was about...and what country is it? That didn't make any sense at all.
  3. Actually I heard about a hadith(someone correct me if I'm wrong) saying that Aisha (ra) never has seen the awra of the Nabi(saw). They covered their awrah during consumation. Also, (again I might be wrong with the wording)I remember I read somewhere that this scholar once said, in the west the naked women doesn't turn the man on because they are always unhijabed, so in order to get that 'arousal' they do makruh things like falacio. However, the scholar said for us seeing the face of the woman arouses us.

  11. I'm sure alot of non-muslims view her work as blasphemous and they know she has no knowledge of Islam.
  12. MashaAllah Jamilah, your post is really beautiful. I haven't been doing that lately, but insha Allah , I remember when I used to make a little dua at night in my quiet room...I would get so emotional, you can feel Allah's presence in your heart.I would just cry to Allah alone. I prayed for all the people in the world who are suffering, I pray for Allah to guide the muslims who have gone astray, and for the non-muslims for Allah to guide them. Ah, I miss doing that, inshaAllah, I have to start soon.
  13. Khayrqabe, Jazaka'Allah Khayr brother, that was one englightening advice from this father. It lit a light bulb in my mind, something clicked in me. I'm somehow in that boat, as much as we love Islam, we are living in a world that has so many distractions. I remember a hadith that says if you are with a certain people for 40 days, you become like them..imagine being with ignorant people for years and years, that would definately rub off. Time is so precious, many young people in the west waste many hours of their lives watching BET, MTV, movies, computer, video games, they basically lose the ability to think critically. I think this process starts in public schools, young impressionable minds are trained to follow authority, they are thought subjects from one angle, and critical thinking is not advocated. Most students sit by age level, so this conditions them to know their place in society, which keeps them in bondage to the "authority", so they never can leave their space or think freely. Most people come from work around 5 pm, tired they turn the television on, and all these commercials are entering their subconcious with the result of making them want to buy buy buy...even if they don't need it. In this society, we are trained to be consumers, to die in debt. Even our emotions are commercialed, we can't feel sad without a drug commercial telling us this is due to a chemical inbalance in the brain and thus you need to take this pill. We are drugged with prescriptiong drugs. It's true many young people aren't active when it comes to taking action to stop injustice. Parents raise their children like lambs, feeding them without teaching them any Islamic morals, or responsibilities. Many women I know put their toddlers in front of the television watching shows like the Simpsons'(not for kids btw); they use the television as a babysitter..and that is what I call child abuse. Again, how we spend our time is very important, and especially for the younger generation, I would advice you and myself to learn about Islam, about the history of Islam and the scholars , and to apply that to your life. Spend one hour a day thinking quietly about life. I know many people know this, many people are smart, but many people don't have the wisdom to apply that information.
  14. I don't know why some people here are attacking the hijab. CW I honestly do believe that the hijab on the right..the one without her boob sticking out is the right one. Why is it when it comes to hijabing the right way, people start attacking saudi arabia...that is just absurd. Properly hijabed women don't have life hard, they have self-confidence in their Deen and that is the best feeling in the world. I would rather dress like a black blop knowing I'm following the commandments of Allah, than to wear a little flowered khimar with a matching skirt and smelling of perfume so all the perverts can gawk at me. The world means nothing, so what if some people don't like you looking like a blop, at least for following the commands of Allah you will get Jannah for eternity, instead of seeking the temporary pleasure of this Dunya by following the commands of Hollywood.
  15. The qumayo is seeking attention and is perhaps on some prozac.
  16. I do agree that many girls in Somalia wear the hijab because they see it as "cultural", and they are afraid to transgress against the norm by wearing.I was once told by a somali man that if I don't wear the big burka the somalis mostly wear, that I would not be covered, even though i was wearing a long abaya with khimar..it was not tight fitting, it was not transparent, it was not colorful as to make it attractive...I was shocked and I told him to go tell someone who would listen to him. However, for the individuals who are saying the jilbab is unattractive and shouldn't be worn, that is just wrong. People who are covered are seen as ackward, yet a woman in a bikini is seen as normal...and a woman wear a one piece bathing suit is seen as modest. The world is going nutty.

  22. The lack of healthy food alternatives in Somali restaurants is shocking. No wonder we are getting fat! The pasta sauce loaded with oil, too much salt, and too much hilib. The only healthy food they include is the salad...laced with rich fattening dressing, and banana.I do notice some Somali girls are either skinny and out of shape or fat. The guys are either skinny, or in shape. This is because it's more culturally accepted for guys to go and do activities that help them keep in shape, like riding a bike or joining a gym. But, I also believe the Somali diet is not too bad because most of us eat home cooked meals, which are less processed. P.S. I would advise all people to stay away from fast food restaurants, it's just asking for sickness.
