LOL, you poor child. You've most likely met the target by now but be careful of what you say coz it can't be taken back. Remember you have no idea how much she knows. This meeting will be the litmus test. Most companies have a techincal or management ladder...women place men on either the friendship or relationship ladder but remember lateral moves are risky business with the male usually falling into the abyss of rejection, so beware of the female mind. Good Luck

Hey now! Castro what happened? Where did all this somalilandness come from? What's in your water?lol

Warrior of Light & Ducaqabe, you'v both provided me the knowledge I was seeking on this issue. Thank You and a Belated Eid Mubarak and Kula Sanah Wa Antum Bikhayr.

Salaam, I need a quick and accurate answer, please! What is Islam's ruling on divorcing a pregnant wife? For those who live in America, can you confirm how the Somali mosques rule on those issues?? Thanks a million...

Are you taking requests? I prefer China blue. lol

No, are you offering to distribute 'em? Ok. my mailing address will soon follow...Mr. Patriotic.

Eid was a much welcomed end to fasting...I had planned on spending it in mpls but unfortunately a last minute 2nd interview invitation took precedence. So, I spent Eid day dealing with the hassle of renting, driving and all the last minute preparation of interviewing out of town. I spent my Eid night having dinner with a bunch of stuffy managers and HR ppl trying to psychoanalyze me over dinner...xalwo was definitely no where in sight, unfortunately. :-( Stop the suspense and tell us how "hilarious" yours was??????

Ciid Wanaagsan, I agree it just doesn't feel like the Eid of yonder years yet we make the best and celebrate to our best. It's hard keeping the fire burning but try we must...

U got jokes, Brown. I concur it was a tad undramatic, jk. Maybe it was a "tad dramatic" but no offense to any of the above posts but I'm really sick and tired of us Somalis being pro-arab and not pro-america. One region kicked us when we were down and the other helped pick up the pieces that we broke all on our OWN!! Easy on the flagrant posts,missy,lol...whatcha you talking about?! I didn't talk about tribes nor did I individually attack an individual, strong opinions are no crime. Heck if mine's "flagrant" half this site is in violation...like posts that portray america/west in a negative light. This should be a two way street, no? Brown forgive me but (not attacking your funny retort) I'm on a roll, the dictionary definition for flagrant (as you know: Conspicuously bad, offensive, or reprehensible: a flagrant miscarriage of justice; flagrant cases of wrongdoing at the highest levels of government Come on now...flagrant miscarriage of justice...cases of wrongdoing at the highest levels of government. How ironic but that's synonymous with that region. Wonder what my ------ of arabs on campus would be considered? A taste of their own medicine that's what...just coz arabs and I share the same religion doesn't excuse ---- (see how I blanked out my adjective...just for u brown Ciid Wanaagsan ppl

Mashaalah, a pic really is worth a thousand words. Those pics had me in awe/mesmerized! Most brought on smiles but a few had me almost in tears...esp. the "study hard" pic of the little boy...so vulnerable and most likely a bleak future ahead of him as long as Somalis conti to arrogantly deny the ugly side of our society and refuse to force change. He will most likely (in a few years) be the little boy with the "rifle in one hand and a football in the other". Ooh how privileged abroad Somalis are and yet how unwilling we (most) are to live up to our potential. P.S. I'd appreciate if the nomads notorious for ripping other ppl's posts apart would turn an eye and spare me in my moment of weakness. Mucho Gracias

Blue, Your talented that's for sure, it seems your pics bring back fond memories for some members. For me, it definitely conjures up strong emotions but trust me none were fond. Thanks for the pics; it makes me grateful for leaving such a hateful, evil and malicious society, give me the Hitler's of the world any day over an Arab... Can't wait for your Somalia pics...those should drain out the toxic of the UAE pics.

No, I've never been in a physical fight. Why are somali guys chicken/intimidated when it comes to asking/hitting on a girl DIRECTLY?

Don't know what this site would do without Nazra? She brings this --- quality to all our lives. lol

Wordette, how true!! I'd rather make myself happy than search for the next happy moment. Anyways, Somali luv (drama) makes daytime soap's seem like the Mormons, no thanks. It's an initiation, I'll pass. To each their own.

Thanks, Ramadan Karim to all my sisters. So, my comments are irrelevant and sterotypical but neither one of yours where? If your comments were in jest why would you think mine where anything but in jest?? U guys jokingly shared some sterotypical comments and I returned the favor. How is that shoving/force feeding generic sterotypes down anyone's throats?! Pray tell? Not my style. If you can't tell a little tit for tat, I apologize. What's wrong with the politcal card? I happen to think all things politcal are fun, fun, fun. Good Luck on your studies. Peace

Quruxleey I'm planning on studying a u'grad degree in the states next school yr Insha'Allah, Our cousins across the pond are a bit....dumb..u kno? I am sure you'll have a superior time)! Wow, explain to me why your going or investing your future in such a "dumb" country?? Pray tell?! If England or whatever is so superior then why cross the Atlantic to have your Ooooh my intelligence...Too much drained? Pray tell?! It's not my style to bash others but even my dumbness could detect your contradicting mentality. Personally, I'd rather have a dumb as a door knob president than having a prime minster who with no backbone!! Peace

Rahima,I'm amazed at your patience with some of the ignorance being spouted around here!! We should all give praise where it's due. I luv'ed the way you've handled this topic, not to mention everything you've said is right on the money. There's nothing wrong with tampons in fact their grrrrreat and extremely comfortable. Somali graduates are working in non-graduate jobs
Katrina replied to SOO MAAL's topic in Developement | Projects
I understand what your saying Jamarel but I think the article represents the majority not the minority. Your most likely referring to ppl with technical degrees like engineering where there will always be a demand for those graduates. Not to mention, minorites rule the technical world which makes it easier for somalias in cs or eng majors to be judged by their content and not the package they present. Although, they also need to have some experience in their field prior to graduating at least now a days. I've been in schools for years and my personal experience (similar to most ppl I know) is Somali students are ill prepared to deal with the harsh reality of work in their major after graduation. I'm speaking of somali's in america. The general belief (from my experience)is they'll focus on school and working some part-time job that gives them the flexibility of studying at the job (security guard) or choosing their hours (cab driver) and the job will work itself out once I graduate, WRONG!! I understand most students have to support people back home or here but I'm referring to the general younger student body. It's very important to actively seek out internships, co-op's or research opportunities with professors, non-profit organizations or working in campus labs or dept's. Employers today will not hire anyone without internships/co-op's for professional jobs ever!! As many have straight out told me. Ten yrs ago students were hired with out internships etc. but not anymore. Yes, it's a pain and who's got the time but the way I see it is why pay thousands of dollars on getting an education if you won't do the wining & dining to get the job?? We have to talk, walk and sound like them to get what we want. Don't anyone take this out of content, I'm not referring to being anything other than yourself or taking up haraam habits but ppl need to know how to play the game in corporate America. Somali students need to become active in organizations on campus and move outside their comfort zone. I found the best way to gain info is by talking the other students in your dept's or TA's. I wish there was a way to make the unkowning Farax's or Halimo's aware of this during freshman or sophmore yrs. -
Mr. OG allegedly said, Just as u learned american football from Rugby...Sad really, but that's yanks for you Hey now Farax, why you gotta start this inter-galactic war?? Haven't you heard Aussie's have this inferiority complex to the great U.S.of.A! If you can't beat 'em in anything that really matters ($$$$, bad boy status, pinnacle of greatness) then we'll just prove our Neanderthalism thru sports coz.

Who the hell cares about cricket anyways? It's just whacking a ball with an ironing board....Baseball is better Don't know about that Liibaan, I agree about the cricket comment..."ironing board" an accurate depiction. The only time cricket enters my auditory realm is when a couple of indo-pak's get excited!! But baseball...come on! You can find a better example. It's such a booorrrrring sport. I recently went to a game, which was kinda indirectely mandatory (work) and I didn't find out who won until the next day, imagine that. I found other things to occupy myself with (counting seats, stars, bugs on the ground, gossip, etc.) other than watching fat men in tights spitting every friggin sec!! ps. I believe the bluejays lost...no signif. other than to annoy T-Dot's.

Human nature being what it is ppl always have time for negative comments and rarely give the much needed fuzzy pat on the shoulder of a good job. Good job animal and SOL in general, I've browsed this site many a yrs but I've never stayed long enough to see it for what it is. A clean, funny and stimulating portal for somalis to interact. Many a times have I attemped to be part of/start a somali youth thang but dissapointment in ppl's close mindedness, tribal issues and most of all blatantly choosing ignorance over enlightment drove me to isolation from somali sites, organizations etc. not to mention the feeling of hopelessness of "WHAT CAN I DO? OR HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE" but this site given me some hope.

Nazra, your little soap opera episode there had me chuckling. Who cares what anyone else thinks it was darn funny! I liked it.
