  1. Qacbaro(still did not tell me wt it means)u said she must speak /write/read too, well speaking its a must if she was raised that way cos i know many families who force foreign languages on their children , but common u cant epect everyone to know how to read n write( though somali nis read like its spoken) but plz some of us never attended somali scools n when i say this i knwo many ppl know wt am talking about. n plz dont say u dont think their r no women who can balance with career and home coz they do exist(maybe not in ur neighbour hood) so cheer up bro, things will be fine as long as u dont tell her to start writing somali when u meet her lol
  2. shahrezade( ur nick is too long i hope did not mispell it) plz sis dabkaa hasii kicinin ,banziine haku dariin . wt he said is between me n him, u can tell him wt ever u wish without me being ur spokesman/woman. peace.
  3. Qacbaro walaalkiis , maxaawaye adiga waaba iska xanaaqey( u cant take things). besides maxaa ii dhahee dhabaal, just coz i told u the truth or half of the truth( coz u really cant deny u liked wt i said coz its wt men eventually want. yes Allah subxaanahu watacalaa said that in the quran, but he also said but if u cant be just n fair to all of them then on is enough, but do u think u guys are fair, i think not( atleast most of them cant or wont or worse still will not bother) so bro i know my religion , am sorry if u felt bad coz of wt i said, but the truth is owwwwwwwwwwwwwwtch lol salaam.
  4. hey guys, Qacbaro well bro sorry to disappoint u coz am now hafiz al Quran, but i try besides i know Arabic so its easier for me, but thnx. well anyways we should be as educated as others in this world, no one should be better than us if we can help it that is. i had seen many ppl throwing away their chances of education so easily and am sure they will regret somewhere along the way. so whether u r a man or a woman education i think is a must. salaam.
  5. hey guys, Qacbaro well bro sorry to disappoint u coz am now hafiz al
  6. Hey everyone, Let me say thnx bro that is QACBARO(Wt does it mean by the way)for wt u said though i know that u r happy with our responses just becos it satisfies ur male EGO . Barambaro sis, let me tell u one thing am a gal just like u n i share the feelings of my gender, so its not like am telling the guy when i marry , "hey honey u r free to get married whenever u feel like it", but hey can we stop them from doing that , THAT IS NOT AN EASY THING. I know a lady who had put her life on pause so that she can keep an eye on her man . Guess wt after many yrs she found out that he was married for many yrs ,infact his kids from the second marraige are as old as her own , so u see that is life. But the good news is, my sisterS that, according to the islamic sharica u can actually write an agreement ( a contact like thing) with ur guy before HAND lol, if u remember that of course. n it will say i will never marry another woman , if u make him sign it , he can never be married to another n if he does ITS XARAAM infront of ALLAH( that is if he knows ALLAH). the issue of co habiting ,me God forbids i wont share my house with anyone, if am sharing him then that is it. there was a sis who was wondering if there are any ppl who r co habiting ? yes , n are happy together sharing their man( but one is very old n the otehr is young ) . am not being sarcastic, but they do exist. take care, n have wonderful lives. peace.
  7. Salaam everyone, well thnx u all for ur opinions. As for my sis, besbaaso am cool N hope that i did not offend u. Alle-ubaahne I agree with u bro totally that islamic education is much more important that secular education, n there is no way of comparing the two. Allah subxaanahu watacaala said in the Quran " Inama yaqsha Allahu min cibaadihi al culamaa" sadaqa Allahul cathim. now culamaa means scholrs, n the verse means those who fear Allah the most are the scholars or( the more educated ones). of course the education Allah is refering to is first the islamic education, but we also need the secular because of our lives in this world ,just like we need the islamic knowledege for thsi world n the next. peace.
  8. Let me say wt an intresting topic. well for me if i had been asked few yrs back i would say definetly NOT, but lets be realistic here when ALLAH SUBAXAANAHU WATACAALA gives us a law or ways of our lives, SUBAXAANAHU knows wt he is talking about. He made us thus knows wt we can or cant do n MEN (most of them)MY DEAR SISTERS CANT DO WITH ONE WOMAN! am saying most of them coz in my family it did not happen, my father, uncles n all but as u grow up u grow wiser &u see things clearly THAT IS IF U DONT WANT TO SHUT UR BRAIN FROM THE TRUTH. then see wt the christians do they say polygamy is illegal but they are always cought with the pants down HUH. and gain wt about HIV imagine he goes around sleeping n u catch the virus from him. coz of my profession i had seen many beautiful young women loosing their lives to this monester and all becoz of the man cheating on her. So would u rather share him with three u know or hundereds u have never mET. so back to ur q my sis, if i love the guy too much n i think the other woman will not give me too much headache ,yes i might . After all men want to much attention, so think about it u will have a peace WHEN its not ur night. peace.
  9. Besbaaso , first of all let me tell u something here, no one is pitying anyone and that is not my style. As for ur opinion of this topic being confusing and the correction that is needed is WHAT YOU THINK coz lets face it honey u think money is more important than education . BUT WT THE HELL COMING FROM U I UNDERSTAND coz u probably never got anyone who made u feel otherwise. Well let me tell u something EDUCATION MATTERS regardless of it taking u to high pay job or not, then u talked about money . of course money matters and anyone who disagrees will be a fool . So my question sis is and will remain the same and no one let alone u can change it. am glad that there are ppl who think that this topic is something to discuss. THAT IS MY OPINION WT IS URS!
  10. LayZieGirl, sis,....i think u misunderstood the question... its not about who is more eager, the husband or wife because that would be a generalisation of all husbands and wives. Eagerness, is a personality trait that solely depends on the individual and does not really determine the level of education which a person has acquired. The question was meant to be more specific. Basically,"would You rather be more educated than your spouse or would you rather He/She was more educated than yourself" In a modern society education is Very important, but it does not equal to success. Therefore, to what extent does the level of education a person has reached contribute to a marraige in terms of security and what effect will it have on your children?
  11. For Besbaaso, the idea is not to make more money, and i feel very bad for u if u think education is just for that. though that is ur opinion n u r free to have one. peace.
  12. Well thnx for all the wonderful replies am getting from u guys. Xoogsade Well bro waw this is wt am talking about we need guys who are more like u ,who are not threatened by their wives' education and her success. and u are very right and infact remind m eof my school teacher when u say that education is not only amean of getting a good job, but raising ur children better. ur kids will be able to relate to u more as they will lok up to u, and u can tell them about ur school experiences.I had seen amny uneducated mothers n believe me its not very nice. ok u say maybe she did not get her chance but wt about now, when she can i mean those who are in the west or africa for that matter. another thing u mentioned was the charecter n thnk u for not thinking taht all women change just coz they r educated , coz some can pretty horrible n very proud. well am glad that i was born to avery educated mother for her time, n who had achieved n still very much do so till thsi day ALLAH bless her soul and all our mothers. am not pragging, but we really need to help our selves in a time when ppl r sooooooooooo ahead peace.
  13. To discreet Well i agree with u that u can be educated and still be ignorant. This was mentioned in the Quran also and Allah considers ppl who are educated but r ignorant when it comes to any other aspect of life other than the area of domination. So yes u should not be ignorant, but then u cant say that school education or diploma or even a degree is not important, cos u dont go to school just cos u want to earn more , but to improve urself everyday. N did u know that (ilm or education is cibaada too) n plz dont tell ur kids to wt u just told us, education is important whether u get a flashy job or not. Peace
  14. viking, Its true wt u said , n islam is way of life and everything was given in Quran, but we r talking about the compatibilty and i dont think islam is against it. get me a verse that says otherwise. Sophist You r right higher education might not be THE thing here, but hey as far as i many somalis finished school( still true till this day) let alone university education. So bro i know higher education means post gradute studies or PhD but in our case, basic education is higher education ( school n undergraduate) peace.
  15. Well thanx again for sharing ur ideas, i appreciate them all. To reply to my bro here, its true that when the woman is educated she will help her husband as well as her children. but really guys think those ladies who r educated are just too much, n think too highly of themselves..... well sue me coz i have parents who think education is importnat. i had seen how education affects the thinking n how u communicate with ppl. although we have our share of educated ppl but they not enough we need more. Again that is my opinion, tell me URS!
  16. Thanx dear for ur reply Xu, coz i think if the woman is more educated she can be either arrogant in treating her husband or she will feel guilty coz she is more educated than him, trying to be sensitive n all . Besides wt about the children , although i know many uneducated ppl who had done alot so that their children would get better chances, but there are many ppl (husbands or wives) who would go like I DID NOT FINISH MY EDUCATION , AND AM FINE.... that is my opinion, with all do respect to others
  17. Salaam to all my bros n sisters, first of all i would like to express my fondness of this website, thnx to everyon ewho worked n patcipated in it being here. My question is to u to all the somali guys n gals, who do u want to be more educated ,u or ur spouse ! i dont mean disrespect but its a simple question, after all in marrraige compatibilty is essential in everything or almost in many things n Education is one of them. am looking forward to ur answers peace.
