  2. 9 things I hate about everyone! 1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is? 2. People who are willing to get off their *** to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually. 3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it? 4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna kick their asses! 5. When people say, while watching a film, "Did you see that?". No, Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor. 6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya, Sunshine? 7. When something is "new and improved!"...Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, so it couldn't be new. 8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever experiences!! What can you do that's longer? 9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, Dumb-*** ?
  3. As I was reading Articles on the New York Times (Not to say that i read new york times, but sometimes i do) I came accross this Article by Thomas Freidman, it is interesing i want to share with y'all you might have read it, but anyways, here it is. Dear Saudi Arabia By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN Memo from: President Bush To: Sheik Saleh al-Sheikh, Saudi Arabia's minister of Islamic affairs Dear Minister: I'm sure you find it unusual to be receiving a letter from me. In the past, U.S. presidents have been interested in writing only the Saudi oil minister, because we just looked on Saudi Arabia as a big gas station to be pumped and defended but never to be taken seriously as a society. But we've learned from the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 that you are the minister we need to talk with, because, sadly, 15 young Saudis were involved in these attacks — or, to put it another way, 15 recent graduates of your schools and religion classes. First, let me make something very clear: America has not suddenly decided to become anti-Saudi. There is no "Zionist" plot here to sour our relations. I beg you not to fall prey to such conspiracy nonsense. There's actually broad recognition here that Saudi Arabia has been a good ally and that many Saudis have studied here and are pro-American. More important, we know it will be impossible for us to counter radical Islamism without Saudi help. Saudi Arabia is the keeper of the Muslim holy places and leader of the Islamic world; it finances thousands of Islamic schools and mosques around the globe; we can't be effective without you. But having said all that, you would also be dead wrong to think there's no problem between us, or that the only thing you need is better P.R. and a few meetings with Washington elites to smooth things over. You have a problem with the American people, who, since Sept. 11, have come to fear that your schools, and the thousands of Islamic schools your government and charities are financing around the world, are teaching that non-Muslims are inferior to Muslims and must be converted or confronted. I want to be sensitive here. We can't tell you how to teach your children, but we can tell you that several thousand American children are without a parent today because they were hit by radical Islamists educated in your schools, who justified their mass murder in the name of Islam. We can't tell you how to teach your children, but we can tell you that in a wired world — in which tools for mass destruction are increasingly available to individuals — we need you to interpret Islam in ways that sanctify religious tolerance and the peaceful spread of your faith. If you can't do that then we will have a problem — then Saudi Arabia will become to our war on terrorism what the Soviet Union was to our war on Communism: the source of the money, ideology and people who are threatening us. What encourages us is that you seem to understand that and are taking steps to curtail incitement in your mosques and media. I notice that Crown Prince Abdullah recently called on your country's leading clerics "to examine with restraint every word that leaves our mouths, [because] Allah has said in the Koran: `We have made you a moderate nation.' " I also noticed that you told a group of Saudi religious leaders that "what is important here is for a centrist trend [in Islam] to grow gradually. If this trend grows rationally, other trends will become weak." And I was also heartened that Sheik al- Sabil, the imam of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, denounced the suicide killing of civilians as against Islamic law. These are important words. We hope that they will enter your textbooks and classrooms. And we invite you to come over and look at our public schools, and if there are texts that you find offensive to Islam, tell us. Look, in the age of globalization, how we each educate our kids is a strategic issue. In the 1990's we learned that another country's faulty financial software can harm our Wall Street portfolios. On Sept. 11 we learned that another country's faulty education software can destroy all of Wall Street. We understand that the issue of Palestine is also very important for you. But you can't come here and tell us that it must be America's business how Israel behaves, but it is none of our business how you behave, or what you teach, when 15 of your sons helped to kill 4,000 Americans. We do not want you as an enemy and we don't want a war with Islam. We want a war within Islam — a war against intolerance and extremism. We want you to be the voice for moderation that we and all Muslims will listen to. But we can only listen to what you say about us when you talk honestly about yourselves. Good luck. Sincerely, George W. Bush — the first U.S. president who wants to be your friend, not just your customer.
  4. By: Prof. Abdul Wahid Sheikh-osman The graphic images of the recent public execution in Mogadishu ignited a firestorm and raised some basic questions on morality, religion and law. Some people saw it as barbaric action and a return to the medieval justice or Stone Age. Others passionately argued that the punishment must fit the crime (specially in lawless Mogadishu ) and, therefore, Mr. Omar received what he deserved for “taking†the life of an innocent Quran teacher. Notwithstanding the emotionally charged exchanges and the usual politically motivated accusations on both sides, this essay attempts to shed light on whether Islamic Law, as found in its original texts, sanctions the method of execution we all saw on our computer screens. Is knifing someone to death in public, and in a broad daylight, an acceptable form and method of execution under Islamic law? Should there be moratorium on executions or corporal punishments until properly instituted authority is in place? Who has -should have- the right to enforce or carry out Qisas in Islam, anyway? Before we answer these questions, let us consider few undisputable facts about Islamic Law. Fact # 1 Under Islamic Law, (as in the case of 38 US States, the U.S. Gov't and U.S. Military), the death penalty is totally legitimate and appropriate form of punishment on certain crimes. There has been no single credible Islamic jurist or scholar in history that opposed death penalty in all cases without exception. The legal bases for this principle is overwhelming both in the Quran and Sunnah and is found, among other sources, in the Quranic verse that reads: "And for you in equitable retribution there is Life, 0 people of understanding, that you may ward off evil" (Al Baqarah: 179) Fact # 2 Under Islamic law, the family of the victim has the right to carry out the execution of the willful murderer based on the Qurnic verse that reads: “Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him nor exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).†(Al Israa: 33) Also the average age of puberty, according to most juristic opinions, is 15 years for boys. Based on this, some opinions within the mainstream Sunni jurisprudence maintain that a 15 years old family member of a victim found to be of “sound judgment†could, in fact, carry out the execution. The group's argument is largely based on inferences from the Quranic verse that reads: “Prove orphans till they reach the marriageable age; then, if you find them of sound judgment, deliver over unto them their fortune…†(An-Nisa': 6) [1] Fact # 3 While the family of the victim has to right to seek retribution from the offender, Islam highly encourages the victim's family to forgone the retaliation as an act of charity.†“ O ye who believe! The law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty†(Al Baqara: 178) Method of Execution Under Sunni Islam I. Classic View A) Hanafis and Hanbali's The Hanafi and Hanbali Schools maintain that the execution can be carried out with a “weapon†only, regardless of the manner in which the homicide was committed. The groups support their view by citing a tradition of the prophet, reported by Ibn Majah and Al Bazaar, in which the prophet (PPUH) said “No Qisas without swordâ€. According to the group, the use of the word “sword†(Seif, in Arabic) in the Hadith is “narrowly tailoredâ€, meaning it ought to be given a distinct meaning that applies only to the term “weapon†in the classic and traditional sense and not to all objects, no matter how deadly. Thus, the executioner cannot use other tools, such as knife, to execute the offender. The use of an object other than a weapon, the group further argue, amounts to mutilation (Muthla) and torture (Ta'deeb), both of which are prohibited under Islamic Law . [2] B) Shafi'is and Malik's The Shafi'is and Malikis, on the other hand, permit the executioner to use an object similar to the murder weapon and to use it in a manner similar to the one in which the murder was committed (this, perhaps, explains why in the predominantly Shafi'i Somali society, the “judge†ordered Mr. Omar to be knifed to death). The group, however, mandate the use of a weapon as execution tool if the use of other objects prolongs the offender's suffering. To support their argument, the group cites the following evidences: First: Two verses from the Quran that refer to the proportionality of punishment to the crime. The verses read: “ And if ye do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out: But if ye show patience, that is indeed the best (course) for those who are patient. (Al Nahl: 126) “The prohibited month for the prohibited month,- and so for all things prohibited,- there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, Transgress ye likewise against him. But fear Allah, and know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves. (Al baqarah: 194) Second: A “questionable†tradition from the prophet, reported by Al Beyhaqi in his “ Al Sunan †from Bara'a Bin Azib, in which the prophet reportedly said, “…whoever burns someone to death shall be burned……….â€. However, both the Sanad (chain of reporters) authenticity of the Hadith and its rule making force were deemed unreliable by the previous group. The group cited another Hadith, authenticated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih , where the prophet ordered the head an adult murderer be smashed between two rocks after being found guilty of murdering a minor girl by smashing her head between two rocks. Third: The group theorized that; since Qisas crimes are based upon the criminological assumption of retribution, inflicting upon the murderer the same pain and suffering that the victim suffered is the only way to achieve the deterrence power of the Qisas. [3] Ironically, Muslim jurists expressed the above opinions at the same historical juncture when the normal methods of execution in the rest of the world included things such as throwing the condemned into a quagmire, hanging from gallows, burning to death. For instance, under the reign of Henry VIII, of England (1491-1536), boiling to death was one of the penalties approved in 1531, and there are records to show people boiled for up to two hours before death took them. II. The Modern Islamic View The modern Islamic jurists support the principle of proportionality of punishment to the crime. However, they emphasize that no execution should be carried out unless there is: A) A verifiable adjudicated decision by properly instituted court of law having jurisdiction thereof. B) A proper supervision by competent executive and judicial authority. Also, in order to avoid the possibility of torture and mutilation, many cotemporary Islamic scholars highly recommend the use of the modern “ painless†and instantaneous ways to execute prisoners such as the Lethal Injection, Electric Chair or Hanging. [4] There is no doubt that the residents of Mogadishu have suffered enough from lawlessness. Unlike those of us in the Diaspora whose lives and properties are protected by local police or sheriff's deputies, they have no law enforcement agencies or proper judicial system to resort to for protection. It, therefore, would seem natural for them to institute such tribunals, Islamic or non-Islamic, as they deem appropriate to protect their lives and deter the ruthless, incorrigible , hardened, and habitual criminals in Mogadishu who are committing most abominable atrocities and terrorize the residents on daily bases. By the same token, however, it seems to me perfectly legitimate for anyone to constructively critique such courts and demand that they live up to the objectives they are genuinely intended to achieve and to provide safeguards that ensure equality and fairness in the administration of justice. The proliferation of this “one-court, one –judge, one-time †style of justice in Somalia brought judicial chaos. On one hand, the people of the lawless Somalia desperately need to seek redress from an adjudication courts on daily bases, on the other hand, they often are left at the mercy of a one single “religiously†appointed or militia-based judge whose decisions are neither appealable nor subject to any form of review. This local “court system†cries for urgent reform. The local communities need to create an “Appeals Board†or “Accountability Council†alongside these “courtsâ€. Members of the Board shall consist of local intellectuals, Islamic scholars and others with judicial and religious training (and there are plenty of them in Mogadishu and elsewhere). The main task of the Board should be to conduct a much-needed, community based--and cost-effective--judicial oversight on these “one-judge†courts in capital punishment cases. The Board should also be entrusted with the responsibility of scrutinizing the evidence collection methods and, more importantly, ensuring the conformity of the overall judicial process with the true Islamic teachings and international principles and norms of justice. Surely, there are any numbers of homicide victims in Mogadishu everyday who lose their lives in ways that are far more brutal than the manner in which Mr. Omar was executed. While every life is precious yet, I chose to comment on Mr. Omar's case because it is radically different in a significant way. Simply put, it was an execution carried out presumably in the name of the “society†and the outcome of an “adjudicated decision†issued by a “court of lawâ€. That “system of justiceâ€, no matter how inadequate, deserved an attention and close scrutiny as well. With that said, it is crucial to point out, in conclusion, that; executing someone with a knife --and in “slow motionâ€- almost always leads to torture, slow death or mutilation, something Islam prohibited. Alternatively, there are other instantaneous and “painless†methods of execution that are consistent with the Islamic principle of “mercy in killingâ€, a key Islamic requirement even in slaughtering animals. Therefore, knifing someone to death is, in my view, indefensible on Islamic bases. 6. Never Argue with a Woman One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?") "You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading." "Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up." "If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman. "But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden. "That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment." "Have a nice day ma'am," and he left. MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think. Send this to four women/girls who are thinkers. If you receive this, you know you're intelligent. Go figure:..........

  9. Should Muslims stop being dual loyal between their native land and America? What do you guys think about this? Hiiraan Online Minneapolis, MN (HOL) - In America, the followers of Islam, a faith under fire, abandoning the prevailing dual loyalty to native lands and America is the only path to repair their religion's terrorism-entangled image. At the center of an inner-struggle among Muslims is who deserves the first loyalty of the faithful: the native land, Islam or America ? During the third annual Muslim convention held in Minneapolis in mid-April, faith leaders say there's no contradiction between being a patriotic American and being a good Muslim. The Minnesota chapter of Muslim American Society (MAS-MN), a Virginia-based nonprofit organization organized the event. With more than 3,200 people in attendance, the three-day convention featured spiritual lectures, legal clinics, marriage counseling, sports and comedy activities, as well as not so-spiritual Islamic songs. Speakers included over 27 Muslim scholars from around the world and several Minnesota politicians. Chief among them was Democratic state Senator Keith Ellison, the only Muslim in the state Legislature and a candidate for U.S. Congress. Keith Ellison , a Minnesota state senator running for U.S. Congress Muslims vigorously support him because, if he wins, he will not only be the first Muslim elected to the Congress, but he will embody, they say, a desperately needed point of access to levers of power in America . The ride to reach that goal, however, begins with “a love and loyalty for the new homeland – America ,†says Asad Zaman, executive director of the Inver Grove Heights-based Tariq Ibn Ziyad academy, a K-6 charter school administered by MAS-MN. ‘Dual Loyalty' Muslim leaders agree that, in order to repair Islam's terrorism-entangled image in America - and in Minnesota , Muslims need to reach out beyond their faith, be more engaged in the larger community and indiscriminately contribute good deeds. “Muslims should volunteer at non-Muslim charitable organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts, food shelves and the Red Cross.†says Zaman who serves on the boards of the Minnesota Teaching and Minnesota News Council. What deprives Muslims from social and political stake in America , Muslim leaders say, is that significant portions of the faithful have one leg in America and the other in the native land, thereby sacrificing much needed, unparalleled loyalty to America . “Muslim Americans should abandon [such] dual loyalty,†said Abdul Wahid Sheikh-Osman, an Islamic Law scholar and an adjunct professor of law of the University of Minnesota . Instead, he says, Muslims should be stakeholders in the social and political process of America . Muslims should challenge the system from within, not from outside, he says. He also suggests that Muslim annual conventions should invite non-Muslims to come and learn from Islam, especially families and friends of the American soldiers serving in Muslim countries including Iraq and Afghanistan . “They need to feel and reflect the faith of the people in the countries where their sons and daughters are serving,†he said of the soldiers' families. “That might give them a unique prospective of Islam.†By reaching out to non-Muslim communities, Sheikh-Osman believes that Muslims are slowly, but steadily integrating to the American society, thereby reshaping their image. Fear of participation . But fear of the government and its sometimes overreaching hand became prevalent among Muslims since Sept.11 terrorists attacks. “Many Muslims believe that no Muslim can accomplish anything in America after Sept. 11, and that's simply not true,†says Hassan Mohamoud, vice president of MAS-MN and lead organizer of the convention. “We need to defeat that perception.†To persuade young Muslims of full participation, MAS-MN has been organizing Muslim Day at the state Capitol to coincide with the annual convention. Mohamoud, a Red Cross board member, says the goal is to raise issues and awareness among legislators and to expose young Muslims to the process of democracy and rule of law. One young Muslim woman appears to have broken the fear of participation. Farheen Hakeem, a spunky 30-year old was a former Minneapolis mayoral candidate who made what's tantamount to a political earthquake by garnering 14 percent of the primary votes last year. She's now running for a Hennepin County Commissioner from the Green Party. Farheen Hakeem, a Green Party candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner Hakeem, who also leads at least half a dozen Muslim Girl Scouts, says her candidacy alone makes aloud statement that Muslims are loyal Americans whose interests could be as patriotic and local as everyone else. She says she's discontented with how Muslims become synonymous with terrorism. “It's also a slap on the face of those who assume that Muslim women are unintelligent and extension of their husbands and fathers,†she said. Born and raised in the Midwest , Hakeem testified before a House Committee recently on the contentious stadium bill. “They stopped chatting and gave me an undivided attention as I started talking,†she said of the committee members, “To them, a head-covered Muslim woman is the unlikely person to talk about stadium bill.†Hakeem's identity and seriousness were called into question during the last race by local media. A Pakistani descent, she was conjectured a “Black woman,†and was asked “Is Minneapolis ready for a Muslim woman mayor?†Others derided her garb and her hijab (head scarf.) Despite all of that, Hakeem says she's upbeat about her new candidacy and continues to “represent a challenge for local media,†until Islam is no longer seen as an un-American religion, unfit to hold a high-powered political position. Friendship with other faiths As the number of Muslims in Minnesota swells to around 150,000 with over 25 mosques and at least two full-time schools, so does their connection with other faith-based groups. Recently, the Islamic Center of Minnesota (ICM) joined officially the Joint Religious Legislative Council (JLRC), a 33 year-old, faith-based public policy lobby group comprising of Christian (Protestant and Catholic) and Jews. The new coalition is already jointly lobbying to oppose a bill in the state Legislature requiring local police to enforce immigration violations. Muslims have also courted a separate friendship with Minnesota Council of Churches. The two sides established a unique taskforce working on strengthening the relationship between them. In a remarkable step, they agreed to celebrate Thanksgiving and Eid-Alfitr, Islam's second biggest holiday, together every year in November. Future of a faith under fire Though leaders at the convention seemed poised to pronounce social and political integration while abandoning the degenerative dual loyalty as the two most pragmatic visions of Muslims in America , they face a challenge from the liberal-leaning culture here, which's not so conducive to the generally reserved Islamic teachings. A midway path is sought as a workable alternative, Muslim leaders say. “Support the good; stay away from the bad,†said Zaman, executive director of Tariq Ibn Ziyad school. The nice thing about this country, he says, is that no one will force you to do the bad things, most of the time. Other Muslim leaders share his view. “Clearly, some aspects of the cultural packages we hauled from our native countries are hindering our smooth integration into the American society as those aspects might no longer be relevant here,†says law professor Sheikh-Osman. “Under Divine guidance,†says Mohamoud, MAS-MN vice president, “Muslim Americans can be American Muslims.†Abdirahman Aynte can be reached at Ceynte@hiiraan.com -------------------------------------------- To see photes go to: http://www.hiiraan.com/news/2006/may/American_Muslims.aspx

I guess it is our turn to do something. Very Very disappionting situation waaye wallaahi...   Go figure:..........
  23. PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service technician who was conducting a test on telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused. Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons I have also verified this information with UCB Telecom,Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell Atlantic and GTE. Please beware. DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE. The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW. After checking with Verizon they said it was true, so do not dial (9),zero (0), the pound sign # and hang up for anyone. PLEASE HIT THAT FORWARD BUTTON AND PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW
