I ask mysef this question recently after a discusion on how liberated Somali women are with a few freinds of mine. But we come to the idea of being Islamically liberated, can they square up to their parents when an issue is clearlly not in the spirit of Islam Only if women knew the many rights Islam bestowed upon them and how they can follow their own way according to the deen insteasd of becoming a rebel to show their disatisfaction with the current sitaution.

I wonder if anyone considered if this is Islamically corrent. One is allowed is take up two wives but only if certain conditions are satisfied ... if both knew of each other and were happy i guess is OK.

Modesty is a grave area you have raised and one needs to be tackled within the Somali community. Molesting ( not sexual ) but the touching and feelings of young girls exists and is often perperated by close family memebers ( uncles, family freinds etc ). Am not just speakin from speculation but i know of at least two girls who went through this in their young years and they dared not tell their parents for fear of not being beleived. But the real question should be how to best to tackle this? and no setting up an organisation that confronts is not the answer. Maybe all parents should just be more open with their kids and just talk to them more often.

^^Amelia don't blame education on all that travelling tough ( this is London after all), at least is better than waking up 5am toclean the office before the working cattle arrive. And being a housewife is a form of learning in itself , if u can master it than bingo u've made good for urself and for him too. P.S remember there is no choice between studying, working or running a home .... do all three @ once, why limit urself, aim to be Super Xaliimo, a Super Farah only needs to do the 1st two.

^^ Com'n North there are plenty of educational and beneficial shows on T.V. Take EastEnders for example, you learn the thinking of a considerable majority in this country and get to pick up a bit of Cockney along the way. And remember Brookside ... i have a weak spot for scouser lasses kidder.

i cannot beleive some people have the nerve to defend the nature and tone of the orginal post. Is not the picture that were offensive but rather the narrative attached to the pictures. This person was looking for a reaction and inciting others rather than expersing a view point and sadly you guys have offered him/her just that reaction. Many a people have made comments in this site expressing their unease with some Islamic ways, but such points were always experessed in a reasonable methos rather the insulting nature of this post.

Is it not Lower Shabelle under the Courts by proxy, maybe am not good with the regions but if the WhiteEyes is part of the Courts, the Lower Shabelle will undouptanly be subjected to the same rules and governance as in other parts ruled by the Courts. Has the man broke any rules as dictaded by the courts and please do not mention any hearsay or dacayaad you may have heard.

There is always bound to be a weak spot in any coalision or groups. it seems like this man accepted the courts the outset and has not refused any of their new policies and strategies. Now ask yourselves why are you criticising this man, are you afraid to criticise the courts directly .. because it seems u only doing this to de-establise the Courts.
