  1. Two things annoyed me; The lady was recording people without their consent and she shouted out "it is for Ogaandeenya" as if you say no, you're against their struggle? Second, what is qabiilkayga got to do with the struggle? And yes, I do support the ONLF as a Somali person but whenever I attend their meetings, the whole thing sounds clanism, I mean the chanting of slogans, the whole "oo yaad tahay" and "anaga hadaan x nahay" just turns me off. Qabiil allegic ayaan ku ahay, all it takes for me to tune out someone is to open their mouth about qabiilkooda or attack another one.
  2. If it is not funny for you then it might be because you don't have the appropriate ... Lol thats what I'm afraid of. But this is what he told me. I was leaving work, walking towards my car and was on the phone. Then, this guys(a collegue) fallows me arround in his car and yells out something. I turn around and said hi. Then he says " the device in your hand is the infidel's tool that will Westernize you  ." I didnt really get it so I smiled and left. Then this morning he comes to my office full of people and then tells them what he said to me yesterday. People(white people ofcourse) start laughing(out of respect I assume) then he laughs so hard he is on the floor  WTF?
  3. Clan is nothing if you live in a society that doesnt value it; it is everything if you're Somali. But I'm rebeling so HELL to the NO! Clan is NOTHING to me but family is everything. Speaking of clan, I was leaving a restaurant on Eid day, and we see a Somali chick with a camera recording something, then she yells out that she is a "journalist", then she tells me to say hi to the camera(I'm a bit annoyed by this time), then she says to me "this is for Ogaandeenya" and then she asks "qabiilkee tahay" WTF. Then, I said "none of your bussiness" then she says "be proud of who you're" and I told her that I was a proud Somali. Edebdaro.
  4. Morning folks, Have you had one of those not-so funny people tell a really "funny" joke that isnt funny at all to you but they're on the floor clutching their sides? Ugh..I dont know how to socialize with people anymore. My face betrays me and I cant hide anything.
  5. C&H, get rid of depressing people or keep them at an arms length. Everyone has problems once in a while, but there are people who gloom and doom just follows everyday, 24/7, all year around. They are always negative. Get rid of them ASAP, they drain your energy, make you negative and bitter about life, you get sucked into a cycle of depression. Me, I like light positive jumping jacks, even when they have problems they laugh about it, get mad about it or cry for 15mins max 1day, then do something about it and then its is finished, problem solved. I hear you hun hence my decision to drop that one friend.I have no desire to mend that friendship. There was no betrayal or backbiting(thank god) with me and her; the friendship just got too exhousting for me. I had no time and energy for no onelse in my life because she was forever "going through a rough time" and whats worse my support was not only demanded, how much I have given and how long it took me was scrutnized  . Anyways, this other friend of mine wants to fix her relationship with her friend but doesnt know how for the wedding is fast approaching.
  6.  Are you serious? If you didnt know the world was ending, now you know Not only is faaxisha being discussed/advertized /done publically,we're watching/reading it and discussing w.h.o.r.e.s as if they're newsworthy.
  7. Go for it JB, you maybe just what that poor soul needs, a good friend ofcourse.
  8. I was alarmed but not worried at that stage. Then, the next week, she asked me, " is it true that a marriage is a marriage if only the man gets his desire in the sitting room and takes you from there? Young men do that. Someone told me, she said, 'Old men, wait in the bed room like an ageing crocordile.'". Muxibo reerka way qaribtay
  9. Morning trollers. I'm having an I-cant-believe-I'm-b ack-at-work day. I'm in a festive mode.
  10. One of my college friends called me sobbing “ it is over” she said, “ she was more than a best friend, she was the sister I never had but she wont talk to me and she uninvited me to her wedding. It is a betrayal I’ll never forgive.” I can sympathize because I have been there recently. I had to let go of a girl who was my best friend for as long as I can remember . We were together daily so much for so many years that people started mixing as together who did they see the other day? Who was working where, even starting calls us twins? Our mothers couldn’t even distinguish our voices when we called. Anyway, I had no other choice but to end that relationship because it turned into toxic and taxing relationship that thrived on drama (and financial strain). But alxamdullilah, I was blessed with incredible friends (minus the one mentioned above) all my life and never had to deal with backbiting and betrayals. What about you girls? Have you ever broken-up with a best friend? Were you ever betrayed by a friend?
  11. Aww...a East European bro worried about Somalia? Cute but thats not the Somali syle. The president will bring his cousins, sons, nephews, and the opposition will do the same plus his "new" brothers from all over the world.
  12. Q. But is this something you are prepared to make a law? In Turkey, they don’t make women wear veils. In Saudi Arabia, they do. Where will Somalia come in on the veil issue? A. The purpose is to get people to the point where they do this from conviction, say up to 80 percent of the people. The government would help the rest. The tradition of our prophet, peace be upon him, is not to give instructions or orders without first preparing the people. Q. But today in Somalia what does that mean? Will the law say that women have to wear a hijab [a head scarf] or not? A. If you look at the situation in Somalia today, this becomes a moot point. Hijab is the norm. And considering the difficulties we have in front of us, this does not become a major issue. We’re working on how to save people’s lives, which is much more of a priority than this subject. I must say I like the Sheikh. He is sharp. They're trying to get him on women's rights and he aint buying it . What’s it like to go from being on the outside of power the last couple years to now being president? You don’t even have to open up your car door any more; someone else does it for you. A. I think whether I open the door or someone else does is of little consequence. What is important is that we took an oath to work for the nation. Q. What’s it like to be now working with the Americans, who helped the Ethiopians get rid of you? A. I would put the question differently. What we were fighting for was a peaceful Somalia that can deal with the rest of the world. Still holding on strong. Albaabka laguu furaa kumalahoo, as if he is impressed by such thing. They dont know Somali men
  13. A child's motor and cognitive ability is not developed enough to make up their own mind on what they believe in let alone what religion to follow. OMG, for real? Do you know the definition of motor? What is motor devolopment got to do with having faith? Waryaa stop copying and pasting. Using "big" words doesn't make you sound intelligent at all  . Mideeda kale(if you're Somali and can read Somali that is) Nac nacda is ka dhaaf. No one is urging you to come back to Islam or convincing you of anything. So you dont want to beleive? Fantastic!! Now move on with your pathetic existance and keep reading trash to make yourself feel better  My beef with people who leave Islam is they can't stop talking, whining, wallowing about their choice   .

  19. What do you mean there is no Tarawix on Sat. night? Is EID on Sunday for sure? LOl@"I am not eating sweeties all the time." It is ok since they all seem to be yummy eye candy. Lately, I'm devoloping a staring probmlem, I think. I mean I used to be oblivious to the creatures arround me to the point where if my friends saw me walking by they would call me rather call my name. But lately, I'm the curious cat and I pay a bit extra attention too ppl arround so I'm noticing not so nice things. Ilahayow i cafi.
  20. Lol@Colgate Smile. Ibti has changed Masha'llah. Did you notice that she noticing the opposite sex for the first time? You cant wear dirac for EID unless you wear it under Abaya. Is it me or do Max dresses make women look like 3months pregnant? I think the trend of hinged waist is troubling.

  22. Eid Mubarak. Everyone is saying it is on Sunday.
