C&H, don't be defensive, just answer the question. Adigu maxaad aheyd? Moderate muslimah/conservative muslimah? Inoo sheeg, why else would you dog other muslims for holding liberal positions? Thanks for clarifying. I consider myself to be conservative on some issues and not in others. It's not the label I have issues with, it is how people who use it define it. And what does "liberal view" mean in the context of religion, anyways? JB, You seem to have had a bad experience with people that you class ( categorize ) as 'Progressive Muslims'. Nope. It's not personal at all. Can you name one that could be internationally recognized so we can evaluate your judgement of them? There is a whole "progressive movement," You can google it, Their agendas are pretty clear. Do you abide by Sharia-Law or Constitutional-Law ? Can assimilation to a host Community be gauged by the number of religious cermonies you can intract with ? What do you mean? If I, a muslim woman, can comfortably shop for Christmass gifts, attend Christmass parties, sip on Cogniac while listening to "Santa is town" under Christmass lights, then yes Assimilation is on full force! If your neighbour's ( a host community native ) husband picks your husband from the Mosque on their way to the Golf-club or he joins your Husband on an Eid-feast at your place, would you consider it full assimilation into your community? If the neighbor's husband waited in the Mosque while my husband prayed or the Neighbor's husband brought a goat for the Al Adxa to be sacrified, festively participated in discussions about the joys of Eid, and stayed late to read some hadiths with us about the significance of Eid celebrations and the miracles of it, then I would say yes assimilation is complete.

Horta, adiga maxaad aheyd? Lazy G. I hope you weren't addressing me as your questions has no place in the discussion.

Ouch! No, its not that i have fear of commitment, but rather a phopia of entrapment nooh ! You say "entrapment" I say "commitment phobia." Number Uno on your list should say "Get over my selfishness and let a decent one make an honest man out of me" . Buuxo, I like that you added volunteer on your list. I'm looking into mentoring girls. Maybe start a youth club or something, our girls are in need of guidance and gir-woman power . Hodman-yeah, get that treadmil out. It's that time of the year.

Islam is all that you mentioned walaalo but everytime I see those "progressive" Muslims, they're nothing but a bunch of confused people pretending that the sharia law doesnt apply to them. Islam is complete. Perfect way of life. It's the people who need to change not the religion. I also hate the phrase "modern" and "moderate" because of the context they're used by the Western media. To them "modern" means one will fully assimilate to the host community so much so that you can't tell the difference. It's like the Jewish co-worker arranging "secret Santa" club for his Christian co-workers or the Muslim husband putting gifts under the Christmass tree in the office. Tolerance doesnt mean you dont differ in beleifs and idiology, it means you dont harm another human being because they're different. "Progressive" or "modern" muslims confuse the two.

Hello, Juxa. NG, I disagree. You dont have to teach him axkaamta or go deep into nuts and bolts of the Sharia law, but 5 is definetly old enough to hear about general concepts such God, sins, hell, heaven, prayers etc.
-
Progressive Muslims.I hate, absolutely abhor this phrase.

Morning people. I feel feel I live in the Antartica, burrrrrrr. It's minus whatever. Winter is depressing. So how are you folks? NG, your son is a reall Somali, already braggin to his peers.

Who is better? I say Al Pacino, all the way. 2+2, Oh the blasphemy! sorry.
-
I love Carlito's way. I watched all of Al Pacino's movies, old and new. Lovveee him. That song "you're so beautiful" gives me goosbumps, lol! But there isnt one line that's as infamous as "say hello." Another favorite, is Heat with AL pacino and Di Niro. Do you see me doin' thrill seeker liquor store robberies with a "Born To Lose" tattoo on my chest?~ Neil McCauley

The Godfather II is THE greatest mob movie ever made! But, but nothing beats Scarface. "Say hello to my little friend" will go down in history as the most badass phrase ever uttered!

This concerns the woman he will be with, not me.

The relationship just become to taxing in every sense of the word. People just drift apart. Sometimes, it's nobody's fault and you shouldnt be blamed for it.
-
Eng, I'm not offended by any means walaalo as this is not personal. I was just merely pointing out the fact that it is more productive for this conversation to take place between the man and the woman. I dont really get the point of the outrage expressed over virginity by men because if people are practicing their religion, it shouldnt be an issue. And if one is not practicing their faith(then obviously this should be a bigger concern than Hi-men), then it shouldnt be done for the sake of pleasing men(who are themselves not virgins by the way) or simply having a herd mentality. My two cents. Sorry if you got offended.

Lol@ ignore until they get the message. That was my standard practice of break-ups with boys, not girls. It is certainly cruel to do that to a friend. I would answer their phone calls and tell them I’ll be busy for a while. Hopefully, the time and lack of communication will tell them to move on. The last time my former BFF called to meet, I answered the phone, chatted for a bit and told her I will call her back to set up the meeting but never did. The difference is though; she knew what she did and knew exactly why I was cutting her off.

Geel Jire, I don’t think this person cares about which religious nut job, be it Sunni or Mormon. The idea that mass killing are committed under the banner of religion is evident in history. I just found this statement ironic; asking a God you don’t believe in to protect you from his nutty followers who are apparently dangerous. Get it? Hello Malika Cadeey. How is it going?
-
My resolution for next year is to commit, dont know what yet. But hopefully something meaningful! C&H, good luck with your list, sounds promising though i was not included Lol! Well, well “commit to something?” Do I smell fear of commitment? This is precisely why you weren’t on the list. Adnan, shame on you for marrying for Laxoox’s sake. Like Chu said, better be darn sure the fortunate future wifey knows how to cook one or has the desire to be a cook. 2+2, no resolutions are what you make of them. You can keep them or break them.

Morning Trollers. I was driving behind this car that had a sticker that read "God Please Protect me from you followers!" I couldnt help but laugh at the irony. Considering what happened in Bagdad today.

Remeber that lady you read her book, Elizabeth Gilbert's(I still remember) how funny it was - I cracked up Walaahi, she mentioned a wonderful Joke of that Italian churchgoer - such a poor man who goes to church and prays before one of the statue of the church one of their great saints, start begging and saying "Oh Dear Saint - Please, Please, and please ... give me the grace to win the lottery." this goes on for months or maybe years, Finally she said as she narrates the story, the exasperated statue comes to life, looks down at the begging man and says in weary disgust, "My son, please please, please... buy a ticket". The gist /essence of the story is action and more action, and when you look back you will see the attaintment, and realisation of your success. May Allah be with you all the way. Oh! I remember that. So funny and so true. Liz is so funny. I loved her outlook on life. Yes being proactive is the way to go. If you have never defined anything then you've never experienced what it's like to achieve. May Allah be with you too.

I'm training myself to become a risk taker, lol! I'm one of those scary cats by nature but I figured playing safe wont get me anywhere. Yes, I do take risks on people, on goals, and other personal areas. Hey, I would holla at the Shabaab group if I trully believed they would listen, but I know they wont. So it becomes a suicide mission really.

Hi Chubacka darling!!Lol@behave more sensibly. Dont we all need that!

This is a silly and over-rated ritual associated with non-Muslims. So knock on your cranium for a better topic worthy of Muslim participation, darling. You're not the judge of whats deemed worthy  . Kindly mind your own bussiness. Thank you.
