You're right! That's exactly what I thought. In one of the chapters, they said if you put a request to the "Universe," wait patiently and dont say "what happened?" It reminded me of this Hadith, where the Nabiga(PPUH)encouraged people to ask for anything from Allah but discouraged questioning the timing of the answers to the prayers.

Well, aniga 9:00am bey ii tahay. Minneapolis is cold, brrrr.... If it wasnt for the blisful summers, I would move to Miami or Arizona for real. What are you upto?
-
Morning all. Sheh, LOL! Where on earth are you at? And why are you using some kind of futuristic comp? *waves@ Juxa*
-
Juxa, Lol@ cadaanka waa wax waalin. Some of them have this obsession with anything Somalis. My friend's cadaan co-worker(who is by the way married to a West African)blurted out "Somali girls are not pretty." We both laughed and said, yes they're. Then, she goes "according to who? your people? I mean, you two are pretty for Somal dont get me wrong. But most of them are hidious-looking. And dont mention the guys, skinny and ugly. And the way, Somalis are set on their ways, very backwarded by the way." LOL! Talk about feeling inferior. Curly, Ignore them. They think you're pretending you dont speak Somali. I have run into that problem too many times. I get nervous and try to speak properly and then they yell at me, telling me to speak clearly. Then I get more nervous and come out as Oromo.
-
I actually read "Dont be Sad." I bought it and lost it then bought it again. Yeah, it is very good.
-
this is a good way to see how most Somalis' priorities lie in the wrong place when they don't want to talk about homosexuality, yet a large majority of them apparently have no problem with innocent people dying every day back home due to misguided qabiil and religious issues. If enough Somali people treated qabiilism the same way they treat homosexuality, Somalia may have never had a war to begin with. If I were you I would re-read that again. Or maybe this is a good way to see how 'some'people truly see Somalis as savages  .

not to mention back in the days ladies did not need much support, their bodies were not corrupted with junk food and their bits maxaaqeyn dhulka Ma ila aragtay horta. Naturally beautiful.
-
Sherban, I didnt say you searched "Somali Gays" per se. But I figured you'd just shrug it off and understand that we're as diverse as any other community. BTW, it aint about you being not Somali. There are some Somalis on SOL that I expect to post this kind of topic. I was just a bit surprised it was you, thats all.

I'm with Ibti on this one. Growing up here in the West, I feel like the community here had a secret meeting and decided to tell their kids about their fantasy Somalia rather the real one. Sometimes, I would see an old picture of women with Afro, wearing silk blouses with no bra and trousers or see through diracs without garbosaar or bra. I would watch Riwaayad and the songs, flirtations and poems and the way men(older)looked at the actresses are just overtly sexual.
-
To Sherban, I have always respected your opinions and your interest in our struggle as a people. But I think, in this thread you're being controversial just to be controversial. What are your intentions? You’ve never heard, seen or imagined a gay Somali? Let’s assume you did. Are you asking us how we feel about it? You know the answer. What more is there to discuss? Yes, there are Muslim gays. Yes it is dead wrong. No, we wont support them or advocate for them. But we don’t/wont burn them alive(even in Somalia)either. Our main objectives are: * To provide and share information regarding homosexuality in general and more specifically in relation to Somalian culture and religion. Both culture and religion are clear on this issue. Christians and Jewish people might change where they stand but Islam won't. * To create an accepting support network within the Somalian gay community. Good for them. They should support each other in their sins. * To provide a space for Somalian gay & lesbians to meet, share experiences and socialise. Cool. * Initiate an honest and open discussion about homosexuality within the Somali community. Here is an HONEST opinion: People should stop building their identity on their sexuality. Sexual Orientation is only a part of who you're. * Promote positive images of Somalian gay and lesbians in Somali communities. No one cares. * To liaise with agencies that can provide professional help and support for gays & lesbians living in the UK. Cool.

Morning ppl.

visualising Clive Owen leaving his wife for me……lets see if that happens. I can see your cynical mind working against you: "I want Clive Owen" brain puts the order forward to the Universe . Seconds later " But I dont want him to love me, yuck" brain cancels order. The Universe takes note: NO LOVE Match for this young lady who apparently hates love

I loathe anything to do with Oprah, I dunno why! I guess my older sister's obsession with her kinda, sorta contributes to it a little...And there's the issue I have with her and Stedman...War dhinac walbo aan ka fiiriyo, naagta mugdi uun baa iga saaran... If you werent my sister, I would order you to be placed in an isolation with nothing to do but to watch Oprah's 20 Anniversary DVD's And dont tell me you're on Stedman's side? The woman rules with a fist iron aan ku dhahay. Grasshoper, Thats what I'm talking about. Just setting your heart on something and believing with your might it will happen. Amazing!

Ibti, Give it a rest. Just like the other thread(yeah, the one you migratd from), LZ is not after the truth, clarification or even hearing the other side out. Like I and others(and you)pointed out, this boils down to a simple choice(to wear it or not to wear it). Like Lazy G. and I discussed, she is only interested to see the ban in the WEST. So for her to argue even in the West women are wearing it out fear is nonesense. One thing is clear: she thinks she knows whats best for those women, which makes her yet another person deciding for women. It's the ultimate double standard: you want to parade around in a bikini(by the way what did it cost you to get that "sexy" and acceptable body for that itty-bitsy-tiny bikini;starvation, Liposection, hours at that cancigon tanning bed, your savings account, normal relationship with food and people, anxiety, depression, scars from childhood trauma?)fabulous! No? Oh! you want to cover your body? Absolutely not. You're too oppressed, stup!d, ignorant, backwarded to even think about that!
-
LOl, me too. Indeed they really thought hard about making millions of money and Viola!they made it happen. Naden, Have you ever at any point in your life visualized something and seen it happened?
-
Not too long ago I was watching Oprah(yes, I love her ) and that particular show was about a book called The Secret. There were a lot of testimonials and happy tears of people who had unbelievable success by reading the book. I love books(I read anything from The Iliad to New Age self-improvement books) so I went and got the book just curious to see what “secrets” of unlimited power were being spilled. This is a description of the book from the Publisher: Fragments of a Great Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions and philosophies throughout the centuries. For the first time, all the pieces of The Secret come together in an incredible revelation that will be life-transforming for all who experience it. Let me tell you; there is no secret. This book(just like any other New Age self-help book) is based on the concept of Visualization and law of attraction: You attract to your life what you mostly think of. So if you think “I’m not going to get this job” and truly believe it, you wont! This is the basic format; you set a goal, you visualize reaching your goal(something professional Athletes and alternative healers swear by) you live it, taste it and you then ask the Universe(or God)to take care of it and then you move on with your life. So my questions are: 1. Have you read this book or a book with similar concept and what did you think? 2. Have you ever practiced visualization(if you look back at your success or accomplishments, did you see it happen in your head in detail before it became a reality?) and do you believe in it? 3. Do you think visualization works? Lately, positive thinking and what they call “neuron -programming” is all the rage! You’re the sum of you think.

Hello CL, I'm sooooooo sleepy! Juxa, Dunno. But I regard gifts as Sadaqa and it cant be sadaqa if you're counting the days where you'll be compensated so ma aha. But that only applies to girls . Should I ever bother to buy a gift for a certain special farah, I'm watching the clock to see how bigger and better mine will be
-
So folks, I'm determined to keep this topic alive. How is your resolution to working out going? Where are the gurus?
-
Morning folks. *Yawn* I feel a lazy day coming. Ashkiro, No, I wouldnt be the least bit bothered because she might've run short in cash or had other things going on. And I dont give gifts expecting to be compensated.

Lord knows I have seen my share of ugly babies! But so far, Somalida have the smallest percentage specialy when they're 6 months to 3years old. Ahhh..adorable!

Anyhow no shoe thrown at me/verbal attack..dam girl you’z a gold-digger. p.s money v looks? Come on, you have an active imagination and am sure you can close your eyes and dream of Gerald Butler. Throw some figures around like Millions, and every girl(and some guys)becomes one eyes wide shot miyaa? Maya Maya! I cant keep my eyes shut through the whole thing dee. Thats pure misery.
-
The Mohammed Yusuf dude has 5 children @ C&H……enquire about the sons. I have thought about that(my golddigging insticts shot up! )but seeing the pictures of the fathers, I'm afraid the sons are ehem.. I mean...dont satisfy my shallow standards. Besides, they arent as self-made as their dads and that's what appeals to me.

Any millionaires on SOL should contact me ASAP, I have some great news for them about the results of the Nigerian National Lottery (don't you remember buying a ticket?) And dont forget about me your partner(dont u remember us selling the tickets, two little girls with the purest intention?).
