With regards to the capital, the Somali people will decide where the capital will be because I doubt all the Somali clans will go back to build and invest in Mogadishu, those days are long gone it will only be the HAG that will live and build there. There hasn't been a war in those cities like in xamar yet those cities aint all that.... -

Mogadishu's Waberi district administration and Raage Ugaas High School are collaborating on a multi-phase education project to provide 225 illiterate and innumerate women with free schooling. "We want to produce women who are capable and educated," Waberi District Commissioner Ahmed Mayre Makaran told Sabahi. "When we saw the need for education and the financial difficulties facing women, we established this project." The first six-month phase began April 27th, Makaran said. An independent committee manages the programme at the government-run school. Students enrolled in the programme will learn how to write and receive instruction in mathematics. "There are many women who are ready to learn, but are unable to afford private school tuition, which highlights the great need for re-establishing the free education the government used to provide for the public," Makaran said. Classes are held Saturday through Wednesday, from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. The programme relies entirely on volunteer teachers -- three men and three women -- who instruct five classes of 45 students each. In the second phase, women will receive vocational skills and home economics training, said Abdirahman Mohamud Ali, the school's administrator. "We will teach them simple management skills such as household management, small market management, creating and managing small businesses, and how to monitor and manage the health and education of their children," Ali told Sabahi. Changing views on women's education Many women in Somalia are uneducated because Somali society does not encourage their education, but now there is an increasing awareness of the importance of investing in women, said Mohamed Isse, a social affairs analyst. "In recent times, increased public awareness has coincided with women's progress," Isse told Sabahi. "Previously, parents used to educate only boys and this caused the emergence of many women who could not read or write." "If a concerted effort is made to educate women, whether a little bit or a lot, it is possible to reduce poverty and properly raise children," he said. Some of the women in the programme told Sabahi about the troubles they have had without proper education, and what they hope to gain from literacy and learning math skills. Programme recipient Safiya Addow, said illiteracy and innumeracy put her at a disadvantage by making it hard to budget her expenses or find a job. "I am even unable to effectively manage the daily household expenses because I cannot keep track of what I get and what I spend," she said. "I have never had any education and I do not know how to write anything, so truly this is the beginning of a new future for Somali mothers," said Maey Mohamed, a 46-year-old housewife and mother of seven. "I was very happy when I was informed I would be receiving free education," Mumina Mohamed, a 39-year-old mother of five, told Sabahi. "My husband and I do not work, but I hope I will find work once I finish this course." http://sabahionline.com/en_GB/articles/hoa/articles/features/2013/05/13/feature-02

Haatu;949515 wrote: It's all about oil all right. The British setting up conferences and twisting arms to get the UN envoy, Norway installing solar lights in Xamar, Kenya occupying Kismaayo and pushing the J/land agenda, Culusoow being rumoured to change the constitution, Faroole being an obstacle every corner: all down to oil. In my opinion, only the Federal Government should be allowed to sign oil deals, let Faroole, Qeybdiid and Siilaanyo cry. the change of the constitution happened before Hassan sheikh was elected tho that has been proved.

truth to be told somalia will loose more than gain on oil, these maryooleey will fight about the oil uu fiirsada lee its a damn shame but the truth

Chimera;949485 wrote: Excellent news Nuune, that's another 30 million dollars annually in the Federal Budget. I believe if we keep regaining assets, and increase the volume of trade and tax, the government will easily generate a billion dollar budget by the end of 2014. Imagine how much money the country could make if it attracted airlines to land in Mogadishu or Berbera as a transit before moving to the end destination. This accompanied with a proper airport billing system, an expanded airport-complex containing malls and restaurants, as well as direct-transport to nearby tourist attractions, and the profits for the government and the locals would be amazing. +1. Good news

Saving Somaliland from Somalia and its Greater Expansion dreams
oba hiloowlow replied to oba hiloowlow's topic in Politics
its a damn shame to suck up to ones oppressors -
I feel the Somalis from Somalia are very hypocritical, selfish, corrupted and very deceptive. They teach from birth that Ethiopia is the enemy of Somalis. In their heads there are two great evils; Satan (Shaydan/Shaitan) and Amhaaro (Somalis always referred Ethiopia to as Amhara state). This understanding goes back to many years but amazingly the Somalis of Somalia never fought with Ethiopia pre-1963 and 1977. The conflict between Christendom Ethiopia and Muslim Somalis has always occurred between Somalis from Somaliland and Ethiopians. For example the Adal Kingdom was in Somaliland. The Somalis of Somalia had no clue about the Adal Kingdom and the wars that were happening between these two people and faiths. Those days had their moments and are long gone. Somaliland has moved on and now fights a common enemy; poverty, diseases, climate change, etc. They only discovered this history in the 1960s and by the time Siad Barre came to power he was teaching everyone false education and history. This hypocritical Somalis of Somalia have open relationship with Kenya, who occupies Somali region the NFD but they won't allow Somaliland to have ties with Ethiopia. There is economic, cultural and political integration between Somalia and Kenya and they (Somalia) does not want the same between Somaliland and Ethiopia. It is time to ignore them and move our regional integration forward. In order to save Somaliland being absorbed by Somalia, we need greater economic, education and even military integration between Somaliland and Ethiopia. For example, Somaliland should temporarily adopt the Ethiopian Birr as its unit of currency. Somalia will never absorb things like that. Somaliland should drop its unrecognized currency and start using Ethiopian Birr which will improve its own economy instead of confusing the market with unofficial currency that doesn't go beyond its borders. This limits the business and economic arm of the country. Adopting Ethiopian currency will send the message to the international community and Mogadishu. If they want to wage war then they have waged war on all Ethiopian Birr users, which has 84 million members. After common currency, Somaliland and Ethiopia need other integrations that are beneficial to each country. It also offers greater prospects for peace and stability and great mechanism against Greater Somalia threat and expansion drives. This Hippocratic nature from Somalia that it is okay for them to have relationship with their neighbour Kenya but not accepting Somaliland and Ethiopian ties has to be tackled before it is too late. http://www.ethiopianreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=52765
