Puntland needs 101 on free market economy. Or is it?
Haashim replied to miles-militis's topic in Politics
There is nothing the so-called FREE MARKET in this world, everywhere in the world there are restrictions, import taxes, subsidies, enz. and it is depend upon the National Interest of the country. even the western econmies who arguing free market block their markets cheap third world goods, poarticullarly agricultural poroducts. So, I agree with the Minister if it's FAIR LAW, (for all) not NAAS NUUJIN or SUUQ KA SAARID etc. -
Dahabshiil makes a callous move on a caprice
Haashim replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in Politics
If this action is true it could be one or more of these possibilities. a. first possibility is that (as we hear from some sick qabiilists) this date (1st Julay) is the date that our turmoil has began (they refer the unity). b. or as some say here it's the independence day of another country and why should we celebrate the independence day of another country? of course i don't care the independence day of the Gambia for example. c. or as some say here the man is already a millionaire he is not worried about a few more dollars from mugdisho becuase if he did he wouldnt have done it. d. it could be pressure from the adminstration in Hargeysa to exclude this date from the public holidays for well-known resons. unless you agree with these suggestions, I think it's not wrong to boycott this company except last possibility which is also very weak excuss, because thge man can lobby the adminstration there to leave him alone and his business. So i wouldn't surprise if many Somali people boycott him for this reason, because even though the South warlords and gangs detriorated our reputution there are still there are many PURE SOMALIS everywhere in SOMALILND (from Garrisa to Jigjiga to Ras Xafun). -
We are watching these days street war goining on in Monorovia and dead bodies here and there, before several years we've also seen Hutu and Tutsi conflict which is still going on in Congo and most of us have experienced Mogadisho and other cities street wars, I wonder if there is any difference between those (west and Central african fighters) and us?. I personally don't see any difference  If you see any difference I appreciate to hear from you . [ June 27, 2003, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: Libaax-Sankataabte ]

Friday sermon by Shaikh Thubaiti The Imam and Khateeb of Prophets Mosque, Sheikh Abdul Bari Al- Thubaiti, in his Friday sermon said, "Every believer who does good deeds shall he rewarded with a good and happy life by Allah Almighty." Sheikh Al-Thubaiti said, a good life is the one in which a person earns lawful livelihood and remains contented with what Allah has given him. The world today is full of worries and sorrows. There are many tribulations and animosities. Modern civilisation has produced many luxuries and amenities for mankind, but it could not ensure happiness and tranquillity to everyone. Modern science has made great achievements that produce sensual pleasure and superficial and physical prosperity. However, it could not secure happiness that settles into the heart and soul," he said. "Some people think that good life is associated with luxurious living, amassing wealth and occupying lofty and positions of authority (in the society). However, a good, secure, calm and happy life comes only with true belief in Allah Almighty, the Creator of the world, Who should be praised and worshipped alone without associating any partners with Him. If only a person knows his Lord full well and believes firmly that He alone determines the destiny of all creatures, then he will fear no one except his Lord; seek help from no one except from Him; and humble himself before no one but Him. He will then lead a good and peaceful life," Sheikh Al-Thubaiti said. "Those who seek benefactors other than Allah, be they rulers or men of wealth and power, can be considered as wretched and unhappy people. Good life comes with piety through Allah's worship and abstinence from sins,' he said. "Allah says in the Holy Qur'an: "Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve; those who believe and constantly guard against evil for them are glad tidings, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter: no change can there be in the words of Allah. This is indeed the supreme felicity." (Qur'an 10:63) "The devoted believer is the happiest individual who lives a life of eternal bliss in complete peace of mind;' he said "Allah has promised to be on the side of those who are pious and do righteous deeds. He makes them victorious over their enemies and delivers them from the disbelievers' intrigues if they (Muslims) remain patient and pious. "Prayer (Salat) is the greatest means of attaining good life. It gladdens the heart, soothes the soul and brings equanimity to the mind. A person feels relaxed and free from worries soon after he offers prayers, which gives him spiritual power that strengthens him to face the problems of life,' Sheikh Thubaiti said. "Glorifying Allah's name is a tool for gaining composure and feeling of being at ease that comes with the sense of being close to Him. "One who feels closeness to Allah, does not fear any other being except Him, Who will be on his side to help him in difficult situations," he added. Sheikh Thubaiti noted that happiness also comes when a person seeks Allah's forgiveness if (at all) he commits a sin or has been disobedient to the Lord. "A happy person is also the one who is satisfied with whatever Allah has bestowed on him. "The Prophet (pbuh) of Islam said: '(The example of) a person who has a healthy body, his daily bread and peace of mind, is as if he has got the whole world in his hands," Sheikh Thubaiti said.

Doctor Dies, Patient Lives The following incident was narrated by a well known preacher of this age known as Colonel Sayed Amir Uddin, currently a Canadian resident. Over 6,000 Non-Muslims have accepted Islam through him. He narrates: I visited a friend in a hospital who had severe cancer. While I was there, a doctor came and gave him the bad news that he will live for only one more week. Then the doctor left to get some medicines for him. As the doctor was going down the stairs, he slipped and fell down the stairs. He was seriously injured and died on that day. On the other hand, my friend who was suppose to die in one week lived for three more years! This incident shows that death is unpredictable. Today we hear about hundreds of people dieing around us but Satan tells you and me that let them die, you have a long way to go.

I think we're REER TUULO rather than the geel jire, when we were at school in somalia we were taught that 80% of our population are NOMADS but later I realised they meant mxiture of TUULO & BAADIYE, if they meant pure NOMADS, in my view, they were wrong.

Three Solid Truths Once, a person was verbally abusing Abu Bakr (RA) while the Prophet (SAW) was curiously watching with a smile. After taking much abuse quietly, Abu Bakr responded to a few of his comments. At this, the Prophet exhibited his disapproval, got up and left. Abu Bakr caught up with the Prophet and wondered, 'O Messenger of Allaah, he was abusing me and you remained sitting. When I responded to him, you disapproved and got up.' The Messenger of Allaah responded, 'There was an angel with you responding to him. When you responded to him, Shaytaan took his place.' He then said, 'O Abu Bakr, there are three solid truths: If a person is wronged and he forbears it (without seeking revenge) just for the sake of Allaah (SWT), Allaah will honour him and give him the upper hand with His help; if a person opens a door of giving gifts for cementing relationships with relatives, Allaah will give him abundance; and, if a person opens a door of seeking charity for himself to increase his wealth, Allaah will further reduce his wealth.' Reported from Aboo Hurairah in Mishkaah and Musnad Ahmad. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bro. khayr, they said when u graduate you shouldn't act like "dadka baararka" "pub people" who everyone think that his/her argument is right and the rest are wrong, but this doexn't contradict our religion as many may think it's exactly what our religion orders us when we're debating with others, many muslims think that as much as we educate in the west as much as we compormise our religion,I think this is wrong idea, pasrticullarly if you had some religious background education before you start your high education. we have to debate with others (weather they're other Muslims or non-muslims) very respectfull way, and we have to not show them (even though we believe) that they're wrong and we're right. in the QURAN there are many AYA'S encouraging us to debate with others a wisdom and good manner, and not to insult their gods and in some cases to insult ourselves instead insulting them, as ALLAH SWT say this AYAH: Say (O Muhammad SAW to polythesists, pagans) "you will not be asked about our sins, nor shall we be asked of what you do" (25:34) Saba' Aya 25. this Ayah learns us to be very humble by saying "our sins" and to respect others by saying "what you do",. but unfortunately we don't apply to this between ourselves let alone between us and non muslims.

Assalaamu Calaykum, Just to rescue this thread from the dust bin  , if we don't have a topic from ourself let's contribute for other bros/sis usefull topics. Greatness of Allah The following speech was given by a scholar. Here is the summary: The Shaikh said that our actions are based on how much belief we have in our hearts. If our belief is strong, then our actions will be strong. Then he mentioned that every effort has a name, a place where it is done and a result. For example, Farming is a name of an effort. Farming is done on land and the result is fruits, vegetables, etc. Similarly, Da'wah il-Allah (calling people towards Allah) is a name of an effort. It is done on the hearts of people and the result is guidance (Hidaya) from Allah. Then the Sheikh discussed about the Greatness of Allah. He said that if two students come to a teacher with questions and starts asking at the same time, no matter how knowledgeable the teacher is, he will tell one student to talk at a time. Because, he is unable to understand both at the same time. But on the other hand, Allah told us that if the first human being till the last one to born along with all the Jinns, if they were to gather in a field and start asking from Allah, Allah can hear all of them at the same time and reply to all of them at the same time. Even though the people are speaking in their own languages, in own tone and ways, yet Allah is able to hear and understand them all. Allahu Akbar! If a student is far away from the teacher and ta lks, then the teacher has problems understanding what the student is saying. However, no matter how far we are, Allah can hear us, distance doesn't affect the hearing of Allah. Allah is able to see what is under the water of the ocean and what is under the dark soil of the ground. If you are walking with some friends and suddenly you look at something haraam, the friends might not have seen you doing it but Allah has seen the treachery of the eyes and He knows what the hearts conceal. Allah knows how many hairs there are on your head and on the head of each individual on earth. He knows how many hairs have fallen and how many hairs will grow. He knows how many hairs will turn grey. This Great, All Mighty, Allah didn't keep our success in wealth. He kept our success in following Islam. People used to look at Karoon and say: How lucky is Karoon. If we only had this much wealth. However, Allah Ta'ala showed the whole mankind that the same wealth brought destruction to karoon for not obeying the commandments of Allah. Success is not in streng th. The people of 'Ad were very powerful. They used to say "Who is stronger than us?" Allah sent them a messenger to remind them that "Don't they think that He who has created them is stronger than them?" But the people refused the messenger. Allah sent strong wind, which destroyed each and every one of them. Not even one of them was alive. Now who is stronger? Allah is able to protect in any condition. When Ferawoon decided to kill all the boys born in Bani Israel, his ministers approached him saying that these are the boys who grow up and become our slaves. If he is going to kill them then who is going to serve us? Then Ferawoon decided that one year he will kill and another year he won't. If Allah wanted, He could've made Musa (AS) born in the year when Ferawoon was not killing. But Musa (AS) was born in the year when Ferawoon was killing. And Harun (AS), Musa (AS)'s brother, was born in the year when Ferawoon wasn't killing. And Allah protected Musa (AS). W e cannot see Iman (faith) but we can see the effects of Iman. For example, we cannot see wind but we can see the effects of wind (branches of trees moving, our hairs flying, etc.) The same way, the effect of iman is that we do good deeds. An old man being able to get up for Tahajjud in a winter night shows us the effect of iman. The Shaikh said that he attended a Janaza last monday where a whole family had died. The brother who died used to be extremely rich and owned his own private plane. He was going to visit some place with his family (Himself, wife, two sons and two daughters). The plane crashed on the way and all of them died. The moment before boarding the plane, he didn't know what was to come. Today, our death shroud could already be in the store yet we have big big plans. May Allah give us the understanding of this worldly life which is nothing but a deception. If you live in Toronto, you can hear weekly lectures like this in Medinah Ma sjid. It's every saturday after Isha Salah.

Assalaamu calaykum, this was a good topic but we neglected we're soo greedy that we don't want to advice each other, i would like someone else to start but it seems that everyone is busy or ....... anyhow, i will start with this rough and express article but i look forward better and more articles from you. There are many good, sweet and full of ALLAH's believe words from our (grand) fathers/mothers for example we inherited from them to answer "WAX AAN LAGU WAARI DOONIN" which means "WE'RE IN A SITUATION THAT WILL NOT LAST LONG" refering LIFE, HEALTH, WEALTH enz. if someone asks us how are you? how is the life?, how do you feeling? enz. this word "WAXAAN LAGU WAARI DOONIN IYO NIMCO ILAAH BAAN KU JIRNAA" and sometimes they used to say "WAXAAN KU JIRNAA WAX AANAAN KU WARI DOONIN" has a very deep meaning and it shows to you how our ancstors were had a strong bond with their creator (ALLAH S.W.T), they deeply realized that they will not continue as they are now, they believed beyond any doubt that ALLAH will change this situation and no one will remain as he/she is now. this change could be better or worse but the later was always in their mind. DEATH was the first one in their mind, when they were saying "SOMETHING THAT WILL NOT LAST" they primarily meant THE LIFE, after the life or before the death there are long list of disturbances including Sickness, Lost of Love ones, Poverty, Wars, Violences and all other un-wanted and un-expected visitors (WA MAA AKTHARUHAA) and they're plenty. So, my question is (and i will start to myself) Are we prepared to all these ditrubances let alone the death which is certainty?. the paradox of this case is that although the distrubances sucha as accidents, sickness, poverty enz. are likely to happen to us at anytime, they're not certain as the DEATH and we always claim that we know that, we all say the only thing i'm sure is that i will die one day, when? ALLAHU ACLAM! it coiuld be any time including today/tonight but if you look our actions and behaviours you will see other than that, we act as there is no something called DEATH and even no other distrubances. To respond this word, i think it's a kind of DA'WA because you areremembering ALLAH to your friend who asks you how's everything? " WAX AAN LAGU WAARI DOONIN BAAN KU JIRNAA" i really like that, and it had many styles some mothers/fathers say "MAR NALAKA AF QABAN DOONO MA NAQAANE ILAAHAY WAA NOO NIMCEEYAY" and all of you have heard similiar words so please keep to say that it's a FANTASTIC word. Finally i want to conclude my article to these two life examples of the DEATH and DISTRUBANCES. First example is that as most of you know we lost a brother and friend who i don't want to say here how he was dear to us and how he was a helpfull and honest brother. but i want to remeber you that he was too young and fit and he never complained from any disorder. INAA LILAAHI WA INAA ILAYHI RAAJICUUN. The second example is about two girls who are called RANA and RAGHDA do you know who are they? the're the daughters of SADDAM HUSSEIN, believe it or not they admitted that they wash their clothes with their hands and they're hoping to ask an assylum to a country that overthrowed their father! That's the DUNYA anyone who think it will last long should consider these and many other examples around. LOOKING FORWARD TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON

og girl, you got my point the problem is we don't know how to manage the disagreement on certain issues, if i disagree with you, as a somali or arabs as general, that means i hate you, because we're different ..... and that's the problem as you mentioned. So who would tell our people that the UNITY doesn't mean that we agree 100% on every single issue.
-
Because our reality is that we hate each other (even though most cases the reason is emotional rather than the reality) and when we meet we smile to each other and we act as we don't hate each other , at least most of us. therefore, instead of this hypocrisy, and double standard i think it's good for us as well as the next generation to discuss the real issues such as why we hate each other? and how this could be solved? is it negotionable issue or not enz. otherwise I JIID AAN KU JIIDEE WAA JEENYO DAALIS.

Thanks Nuune, even though this may written by muslim or non muslim person recently, it's a proof of our prophets MIRACLE (S.A.W) as he said exactly this before more than 1.420 yrs when the world population was not mre than some millions. the HADITH was: AS ARABIC= MAN ASBAXA AAMINAN FII SIRBIHI, MUCAAFAN FII BADANAHI, CINDAHU QUUTUA CIYAALIHI, FA KA ANNAMAA XAZAFAT LAHU DUNTYAA BI XAZAAFIIRIHAA. SOMALI TRANDSLATION= QOFKII REERKIISA KA SOO DHEX TOOSA ISAGOO NABAD QABA , JIRKIISUNA U CAAFIMAAD QABO, CUNTO REERKIISA KU FILANNA HAYSTA, WAA QOF ADDUUNKA OO DHAMMI UU AGTIISA KU SOO URURAY (WAX KA MAQANI MA JIRAAN). IT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU WROTE AND IT WAS VALID THAT DAY AS WELL AS TODAY SUBXAANALAAH ! IT'S REALLY BIG MIRACLE, ALXAMDULILAAH WE GOT THAT AND MUCH MORE AND ONLY ALLAH HAS GIVEN US ALXAMDULILAAH AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Shaqsiib you're absouletly right it become normal these days to say mid reer hebel ah instead his/her name, and i think the biggest problem is the lack of government which can direct the people to something like the former government which was directing people once by BACAADCELINTA, OLOLAHA BARASHADA AF SOOMAALIGA/AF CARABIGA, DAGAALKII XABASHIDA, LA DAGAALANKA CUDURRADA, GAAJADA, OKTOOBAR, GURMADKA etc. as long as we have no job we will make job between ourselves, there is a big vaccum in our society, this vaccum should be fulfilled by something and we filled it qabiil, kan yuu yahay kaasna yuu yahay, so i don't see any near solution and it may continue untill other societies will take us over. because if we continue next ten years as we're now i have no any doubt that other parties will take over our land with or without our consent.

As you all know we lost a dear brother and friend (Maxamed Ismaciil) I saw these 2 articles on BBC, as you'll see both institutions need help from us, so my idea is to give charity to these institutions and ask ALLAH to give this reward to our brother MAXAMED ISMACIIL and to enlarge and enlighten for his grave, if we could make SADAQA JAARIYAH (ONGOING CHARITY) it will be much better and depend upon how we're organised and i recommend it even if it's one dollar per month it could be between US$ 2.000 - 3.000, I think this is better than to give one time a huge amount, because one will finish and other will last untill ......... So, please give your feedback and even if you have other part of somalia which we can help and remember the MARXUUM don't mind where is it but he desperately, as other muslim deaths, needs rewards from real SADAQA (charity). Thanks. War on terror hits Somali orphans By Hassan Barise BBC, Mogadishu Thousands of Somali orphans cared for by a Saudi aid agency could have their lives affected by the United States' war on terror. Somalia's biggest company was closed down for alleged terror links The Saudi Arabia Government has ordered its international staff working for al-Haramain aid agencies to leave Somalia after a recent allegation from the United States Government that it has links with terrorist organisations. The offices of al-Haramain have already been closed in Bosnia, Croatia, Indonesia and Malaysia. In the last few days the Ethiopian, Kenyan and Tanzanian offices have also been told to close, according to al-Haramain officials. Food worries > He said: "Our camps hardly have enough food stocks for the next 10 days... and we don't know what will happen after that". Despite his worried expression, Mr Qumaysi said that the orphanage has been contacted by Somalis living abroad who are related to the orphans and told them to keep the children for a while, while they look for money. Some Somali businessmen have also asked teachers at the orphanages not to send the children onto the streets, but to wait as they try and raise the funds. Mr Qumaysi said: "It is strange that the US says the Muslim aid agencies are terrorists, but they don't bring their own agencies to replace them. Isn't this just another way of killing the orphans whose parents have died during civil strive in Somalia?" Transit point Al-Haramain has five orphanages in Mogadishu as well as others in Merca, Burao and the self-declared Republic of Somaliland. They employ over 700 people. This is not the first time that al-Haramain has been accused of having links with terrorist organisations. About a year ago it was put on a US list of terror groups, and then later removed. Mr Qumaysi said the al-Haramain office in New York remains operational, but nobody knows why their offices are being closed down. Last month, a United Nations report found no evidence that international terror groups were based in Somalia. However, the 62-page report does say that those responsible for recent terror attacks in East Africa passed through Somalia. Puntland university seeks peace dividend By Robert Walker BBC, Bossaso, Puntland A new university in Somalia's semi-autonomous region of Puntland is giving students the chance to study for degrees for the first time. The East African University has high ambitions And the university hopes the recent ceasefire in Puntland between government and rebels will allow it to expand further. The ambitiously named East Africa University opened its doors to students two years ago, but construction of the new campus - on the seafront close to the port of Bossaso - is still continuing. Abdi Weli Abdirahman is Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. Like many of the teaching staff, he has returned from abroad. "I am an economist from the United States. I came back to teach my people in Puntland. I am a Puntlander", he says. Too dangerous But the past two years of fighting in Puntland has made it difficult for the new university to establish itself. Students know they can go to university and get a job and they can compete with the rest of the world Abdirizak Mohamed, Unicef Business student Abdirizak Abdullahi says many in his class stayed at home during the conflict. "Classes stopped. We could not come to university which is 5km from town because of the fighting. Everyone went home to save themselves," he recalls. The fledgling university is desperately short of funds. Dean Abdi Weli Abdirahman hopes the recent ceasefire in Puntland will bring a much needed peace dividend. "The new university is very costly to run. We do not get the funding we expect from the state, because most state revenue goes to security. "Soon, the peace is coming, we expect more money," he says. Future hopes There are few further education opportunities for school leavers in Puntland. The university offers everything from Sharia law in business studies Abdirizak Mohamed of the Bossaso office of the United Nations children's agency (Unicef) thinks it is important for the whole education sector that the new university succeeds. "If we have a university, we expect the enrolment in primary schools to increase. "Students know they can go to university and get a job and they can compete with the rest of the world. It's good for the future," he says. Back at the university staff and students say there is one key thing the university needs if it is to grow - and that is for Puntland's new peace to continue.

BN & DAD both of you are talking women in nations military force, i agree with u that it's our duty (men and women) to defend our country, but i'm talking about clan militias, it's a shame women and all other honourable community members to involve this bloody clan war. 12 yrs now and we're still fighting each other ...for what? Anigaa kaa aabe fiican mise anigaa kaa hooyo fiican? if someone asks me why you're fighting each other i simply say i don't know  because even the one who's fighting don't know why?
-
Ameenah, Sis. i know you're joking but this is not progressive this is a great sign of backwardness  , women taking part a power struggle war , when two warlords fighting for power we (men and women) should not join it, however it is normal that you see a ******** (men) fighting for their warlord because they have no other job to do, but our honourable women (at least) should keep awy from this JAHILIYA war, a war that occuring between two muslim, somali, and even same clan warlords i recommend that libaax should remove this picture from the site because it is shame for all of us, all somali ppl why this woman is fighting for? is she fighting against ethopian enemy which we couldn't find enough men to fight them? when the shame became broud?
