Sagal, thanks for the article, i remember many years back i listened Sh. Abdirihiim Dhaxaan's lecture about the Songs and music and he told many similiar facts from our former Uluma's. So, our Uluma's realised this fact thousand year's ago without these technological instruments.

On July 8, 2003, a plane crashed in Sudan and all the passengers and crews died except a young boy who was only 2 years old. This is indeed a miracle of Allah. Out of all the people, this boy probably had the least ability to defend himself, yet he is the only survivor. In addition, anyone falling from such a height would die anyway. But, Allah is showing us that He is able to do all things. "Verily, Allah! Unto Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, He gives life and He causes death. And besides Allah you have neighter any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper." Al Quran (9:116). Child only survivor of Sudan crash Tuesday, July 8, 2003 Posted: 5:46 PM EDT (2146 GMT) (CNN) -- A child is the only survivor of a Sudan airways passenger jet that crashed, killing 105 passengers and 11 crew. The plane, a Boeing 737 on a domestic flight, crashed Tuesday morning shortly after takeoff from the Red Sea town of Port Sudan in the northeast of the country. "Only one child has survived," government spokesman Abdel Hamid Abdeen told CNN. "This is a very, very tragic accident. A big human loss." The child, a 2-year-old boy, was rushed to hospital in good condition, Red Sea provincial government spokesman Salah Ali Ahmed told Sudanese television, The Associated Press reported. The plane came down in wasteland about 5 km (3 miles) from Port Sudan airport. No damage or casualties have been reported on the ground. The pilot reported "technical difficulties" about 10 minutes after the plane took off for Khartoum and crashed a short time later as he tried to return to the Port Sudan airport. "The pilot contacted the tower and decided to return to the airport. While trying to land, the plane crashed," he said. Sudan Airways officials said 55 Sudanese men, 27 women,16 children and seven foreigners, including Malaysians and French, were on the flight. No other details on the passengers were known. The dead were moved from the charred remains of Flight SD 39 to morgues in Port Sudan. Abdeen said that as far as he was aware the plane had no history of technical problems. Technical teams are being sent from Khartoum to Port Sudan to investigate. There have been few passenger plane crashes in recent years in Sudan. A year ago, a Sudan Airways cargo plane crashed into a residential area of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, killing 23 people, mostly passengers and crew.

Abdul Qadeer Draper, was born in 1947 to a Loyalist family in Northern Ireland. Growing up in a Loyalist environment, he began to question why he should support a foreign country like Britain in oppressing a part of the Irish people. His loyalty to Britain began to fade, and his identity began to sympathise with his Irish countrymen, which led him to join the Irish nationalist cause. However, nationalism did not give him an identity that he felt comfortable with either, and his mind remained at unease. Abdul Qadeer will address the Muslim Identity conference, entitled “British or Muslim?”, to be held at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham this Sunday 24th August. He will explain his path to discovering Islam and adopting the Islamic identity, which he embraced in 2000. His talk will highlight his quest for identity, and how could never rest till he found the Islamic identity. Also speaking at the conference will be Aqib Hanif, a city worker from London. Aqib was a man who many people in this country would regard as having everything. Working in the rich financial capital, his position afforded him the comforts and luxuries that many people only dream about. Owning a portfolio of exclusive properties, having cars custom made for him, living with the privileged elite, and all by the age of 25 - he fitted the perfect Capitalist identity. However, even with his wealth Aqib never attained tranquillity, rather the more he had, the more he wanted. Aqib will present to the conference his encounter with a young Muslim da'wah carrier. This young Muslim was diagnosed with cancer and had weeks to live, yet even in this grave situation he possessed a tranquillity that had eluded Aqib. The presentation will cover the discovery of the Islamic identity and thoughts -such as Rizk and Tawakul - which uniquely allow people to find peace of mind and comfort in life, no matter what the situation. Also speaking at the conference will be Abu Yusuf, a freelance communications engineer who worked for CNN during the Iraq war. Being in the thick of the action, he was exposed to the truth of what was really happening in Iraq, and what the real feelings of the Iraqi people were towards their colonialist occupiers. He had the choice of remaining quiet over the biased reporting and propaganda, in the national interests of his home country, just as his British and American colleagues chose to do so. Or he had the choice of speaking out. It was a question of identity, and allegiances. Abu Yusuf, will present to the conference how his experiences fortified in his mind the vast expanse between him and his British colleagues. And how the natural affinity he found he had with his Muslim brethren in Iraq solidified his Islamic identity. These case studies highlight the issues of identity, values and vision that confront the Muslim community in Britain. These important issues impact our daily lives, and hence require resolution in a way that agrees with the fundamental beliefs that Muslims carry about life. This weekend's conference is set to discuss all aspects of the Muslim identity, in the largest gathering of Muslims ever convened for this purpose in Britain. The conference takes place at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham this Sunday 24th August. Coaches have been organised from all major towns and cities throughout Britain. In addition to the speeches, there will also be food and bookstalls. Prayer and crèche facilities will be available at the venue.

A brother was asked to give advice to some people in a gathering. He said the following things about being punctual in offering Salah (prayer). He asked us if any day passed by when we were so busy with work that we couldn't attend the call of nature (urinate, excrete etc). All of us replied to the negative because we all had to relieve ourselves no matter how busy we were. So, he said that in the same manner, no day should pass by where we couldn't offer salah because of being busy. Indeed, salah is more necessary for us than relieving ourselves. May Allah give all of us the ability to offer salah in all conditions. Ameen.

The first Somali Queen (ala Burco) – So why all the fuss?

Salih ibne Mismar (ra) narrates: Rasulullah (SAW) asked Harith ibne Malik (RA): How are you, O Haright ibne Malik? He replied: By the grace of Allah, I am a Mu'min (in a state of Imam). Rasulullah (SAW) asked: A true Mu'min? He replied: A true Mu'min. Raslulullah (SAW) said: For every truth, there is a reality. So what is the reality of the truth of that (which you claim)? He replied, I have turned myself away from the world, and passed my nights awake (in worship) and passed my days in thirst (fasting). It is as if I am seeing the Arsh (Throne) of my Rabb (Sustainer) when it shall be brought, and it is as though I am seeing the people of Paradise visiting one another therein, and it is as if I am hearing the howling of the people of the Fire! At that Rasulullah (SAW) said: (Harith is such) A Mu'min whose heart has been enlightened. Source: Musannaf Abdur Razzaq. May Allah give us the ability to bring such faith into ourselves also. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Narrated Anas: There was a Christian who embraced Islam and read Surat-al-Baqara and Al-Imran, and he used to write (the revelations) for the Prophet. Later on he returned to Christianity again and he used to say: "Muhammad knows nothing but what I have written for him." Then Allah caused him to die, and the people buried him, but in the morning they saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, "This is the act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and took his body out of it because he had run away from them." They again dug the grave deeply for him, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, "This is an act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and threw his body outside it, for he had run away from them." They dug the grave for him as deep as they could, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. So they believed that what had befallen him was not done by human beings and had to leave him thrown (on the ground). Social Debate: My observations on the character of the Somali individual
Haashim replied to QUANTUM LEAP's topic in General
Shaqsii, good point and the answers are not easy, but there is one thing we've to be confident about it; ALLAH NEVER OPRESS TO ANYBODY, but the people are oppressing themselves and each other, so we're the source of our tragedy not from our creator. i think the IGNORANCE is the biggest source of our problems and to have some degrees from university can't change that ignorance it's a virus that most of us are carrying including many degree holders and even some sheikhs; because to learn something is a one thing and to understand it is another ...... -
The Prohibition of Nationalism in Islam
Haashim replied to Conscious Manipulation's topic in Politics
Thanks CM, this is indeed one of the best articles i ever see on SOL, if it's not the best one. if there is reward my choice would be this article. and by the way this is what we Somalis need to know, since the tribalism is a mother of all our disasters. Thanks Bro/sis -
Thanks to all, and ask ALLAH to do what we're telling to other people Aammiin.

AAMMIIN, and thanks Sister. There is nothing better than the HUSNUL KHATIMA, A BETTER END, and one haddith narrator (i forgot his name) said i met 70 of the Sahaba (R.A) and many other Taabiciin (R.A) they were all asking ALLAH a HUSNUL KHATIMA.

Weather we admit or refuse all what Silent Sistah said fit to our vast majority (perhaps more than 90%), no matter if one, two or three of us are far from descriptions. The majority rules. we have to accept it.
