1. A man is walking to the town of Ipswich. He comes to a fork in the road, with the two branches leading in two different directions. He knows that one of them goes to Ipswich, but he doesn't know which one. He also knows that in the house right beside the fork in the road there are two brothers, identical twins, both of whom know the road to Ipswich. He knows that one brother always lies and the other always tells the truth, but he cannot tell them apart. What single question can he ask to whoever answers his knock on the door which will indicate to him the correct road to Ipswich? 2. Three men are placed directly in line facing a wall. The man at the back can see the two in front of him, the man in the middle can see the man immediately in front, and the man at the front can see only the wall. Each man has a hat on his head, taken from a supply of three black hats and two white hats (the men know this). They are told to remain in line silently until one of them can guess the colour of the hat on his head. That man gets a large cash prize. After five minutes of standing in line, the man facing the wall (at the front of the line) correctly identifies the colour of the hat on his head. What colour must it be? How did he arrive at the correct conclusion? Note that he did not guess.

This is the sort of sentimentalist dogmatism that i am talking about!

Did they turn up in their gowns and Nacaal, waving their Cigaals to give them a chase?

We don’t want to hear what other websites say – we want to hear your views! Stop hiding behind other people’s words and post your own. It would really great if you just post your opinions and your thoughts rather than copying and pasting entire contents of websites to fill up the pages. These will most likely NOT be read by anyone. If you wish, quote a passage and then paste the link at the bottom. Stop being sentimental – attacking the person rather the argument they put forward simply discredits you for good and shows lack of reasoning skills and knowledge. be careful of this for it often leads to an ignominious end! Trivial arguments – don’t just argue for the sake of arguing, bring forth some reasoning and analysis that forwards the debate rather than spin it in eternal circles of ambiguity. Prove it! – many people have no basis for most of the allegations they make and when asked for proof for these baseless accusations would simply vanish and wait for the topic to be buried. These persons are mostly inconsistent in their pitiful appeals. Selective Reading - choosing to read one part of a person’s post and refuting that only point and negating any other points raised, demonstrates some weakness in your counter-argument. It is pathetic. And last but not least – Debate, don’t discuss! – this is not your local restaurant or Marfish!

Maakhir, this cagajuglayn business between the two administrations has long been unresolved. And from your post I understand that you are in support of the view that Somaliland administration sustains this vast land of Sanaag, but does this mean that it (Somaliland) is rightful in enveloping it (Sanaag) in a proprietorial shield – or Puntland for that matter if it did sustain it with its profits from Bosaaso port? My dear Maakhiri , are you suggesting that the measly, though much-need, succour should be bartered for an eternity of subservience under any administration that offers it? Both Somaliland and Puntland have supported Sanaag over a period of time, but wasn't that all simplu to gain its trust and vote – purely clandestine operations camouflaged as aid. Sanaagians should after all determine their own fate, a view reaffirmed by the Odayaal of Dhahar recently. The problem to the predicament, as well as the solution to it, of course, lies with the Sanaagians. It is only they who can after all decide where they want to be, as the Odayaal strongly stated. They need not be coerced, pushed, pulled and wrung persistently, for neither Puntland nor Somaliland have any interest in the people – it is the region, the land, the resources that count and the flambouyant display of might that is important to them. This of course is the political perspective of things with regards to the two administrations. The people of Sanaag, however, maintain very good relationships with both the people of Somaliland and those of Puntland, and have been living with them for a very long time, so whatever the International World has allocated to it has been fairly reaching it – though complaints have been heard constantly. The long existing peaceful ties between the Sanaagians and their neighbouring brethren has always been evident in their sociability and amity, despite a few skirmishes at times. ThePoint – to say that most Sanaagians are or are not with the notion of Greater Somalia is purely on the basis of my personal opinion, and I would say that they do want a Greater Somalia.

^I would like to get a sense of what Solers from the region want. It seems that Sanaag especially risks becoming a much abused football between SL and PL. Why don't the inhabitants decide which 'team' they want to 'join' or decide they want to go their separate way? It seems to me that the indecisiveness or lack of clarity from the inhabitants prolongs the tension and puts them at peril. Am I being overly harsh here or just plain wrong? I don't know. ThePoint , if everybody is now laying claims to territorial boundaries, then by all means I would want my very own Sanaagland too! So Somaliland and Puntland can take their baalxoofto elsewhere. I would be willing to invite Sool brethren too if they are willing to join, though they are capable to maintaining their own. But you see, therein lies the rub. This is what I want as an individual , and what I want as an individual cannot be used as a method to determine the wants and wishes of all Sanaagians. It is this difference of opinions that distinguishes individuals – and of course at times ruins them; case in point Sanaag. There is also a clear case of bribery from both these adminstration, further dividing the inhabitants and leading it to be much like an abused football. Lets be honest with one another here, both the administrations of Somaliland and Puntland have one clear goal in mind, and accomplish it they will by any means – to gain control of Sanaag and Sool. The people of these regions are of least importance to both of them and insignificant are the numbers of the deceased with the intensifying skirmishes. Both these administrations are exercising what the Oodweyne Abwaan Axmad Daahir once described as, Falaadh baan circa u diray nimey durina yeelkii walle kuuma duurxulo kaama dhawro dakharkana …that’s is as long as they get what they want. It is clearly a case of politics and not in interest, even slightly, to the people of Sanaag and Sool. Hadii ay awood iyo raganimo sheeganayaan, and if they want sanaag this much then I suggest they take their war to Xadeed plains in Sanaag. For this is where no tree is in sight for miles and miles and a direct combat – manly one at that – can be fought with a clear distinction between the winner and the looser; where the oppressive sun’s heat just breathes hot fumes down your throat, scalding its walls; where not even a shrub is a available to hide behind in; where a fleeing coward can be spotted easily and guillotined at a later stage; where a reward for valour will be greatly pleasant and that for cowardice greatly unbearable. Walle Xadeed nimey kaadi ku qabatey kelyuhu xanuunaan! As for Sanaagians, Hadde mar haddi dubbiyo waran duunkayga lala dhacay yaa dabarka igu xiray? As for Ethiopia, i doubt that it will be involved - it has to preserve its ties with both Somaliland and Puntland in order not to loose any favours from both sides. It will lay back and watch it from its vantage point for quite a while. It is also important to remember that Ethiopia is in much need of the support of both Somaliland and Puntland in order for it to flourish both economically and execrise its surreptitious war.

Ninkii dhoof kuyimi bey geeridu dhibeysaa! I hear there has been a clash between the two parties, and i beleive that the casualties will soon significantly rise. Taarkiina wuu go'anyahay!

There will be opportunity for Ethiopia to mediate between them and perhaps station peacekeeping forces in there to further milk the resources of the concerned regional and international bodies. Xiin, Ethiopia is on a mission and this is very likely - Crooks masqueraded as peacekeepers! If Ethiopia steps in, it then has a lot to gain, but then its integrity will be on the line for it has close ties with both adminstrations. I also hear from the residents that the situation is not as bad as the news reporters claim it to be. Amidst the chaos, i hear that there is some sense of stability - stability in the sense that both puntland and Somaliland are on the nerve on the developing situation and none of them is prepared to take the first step into the blood puddle. Therefore, a fear of the unforseeable prevents both from engaging. I wouldn't be surprised if I see Ethio boots in Lasqorey and Badhan, I guess the price one pays when you blindly support few greedy men .. Che, Fadlan faahfaahi ujeedada! Waa reer Sanaag waligoodba nabad ayey iska macansanayeen, kaluunkooda yarna way iska dhoofsanyeen, dhib iyo jah wareer uma baahna. Meesha vacation aad utagtid baan islaha sowkuwan meeshii iyo biyihii xareeda ahaa dhooqeeyey. ...loool MJ, ina adeer Kalluunka Maakhir Coast makuu soo gudbiyaa, london buu ka bataye! Puntland is not very much intrested in this SL vs Pland war they are in a mission unaccomplished and on a large scale target to be materialsed, a political game to score in the South and this Badhan and Dahar thing to them is Licib saqiir ...Emperor, quite the contrary in fact i believe. This Licib Saqiir in Dhahar is of much relevance and significance to the Puntland adminstration. Despite their meagre resources, loosing sanaag to Somaliland would be, in the least, a blow to pride for loosing land and fellow clansmen. So it is in their interest that Sanaag, and Sool for that matter, rest with the Puntland adminstration. Sanaag here though, is the pawn in the game - with everything to loose.

The case of Sanaag, which has always been a bone of contention between the warring autonomous regions of Somaliland and Puntland has now taken a new front. For quite some time tense emotions have been boiling over the territory and an exchange of fierce and belligerent gestures then ensued. But now that bubbling magma has cracked the lid open and hot bubbles have emerged. So what is at stake, if there were an all out war in Sanaag? One – As soon as the tussle in the technicals begins, the first casualties of the war will undoubtedly be the local residents and the innocent herdsmen in the terrains of Sanaag, who live quite indifferently to this deliberate quarrel. Two – The Puntland force has retreated peacefully earlier, but now a convoy of technicals from their meagre resources have been stretched out onto the long stretch of road from Bosaaso on their way to Dhahar, i hear. Though the situation can easily be resolved peacefully, an aggressive front as this would only further the campaign of hostilities and put the other side on the defensive. Three – Somaliland having crossed the immense terrain and delving quite further into Sanaag (Map here), though clearly demonstrates an artillery might and manpower, might also backfire when their ferry founders. As soon as the torrential downpour of bullets and mortars starts, they might see themselves enclaved in the precipitous plains of Sanaag as they are surrounded from all sides and sending for reinforcement to fortify their stronghold might prove precarious. The Odayaal of Dhahar and generally those of Sanaag have tried to resolve the situation peacefully, but can they accomplish it this time when both parties are bent on a total annihilation of the other? I am hoping that a peaceful accord can be reached without any spillage of blood, but hey, there’s nowt so queer as folk, so what are your predictions?

Younger Woolwich Boys... Welcome to the South East. I know almost all of the Somali boys in the video and see them everyday in Woolwich. The thing is they are not as menacing as they portray themselves to be - They are not bad kids at all, but are attracted to the glamour of street culure that seems to be sweeping across the country. They are simply in a state of delusion - a trend set across by the elders before them the original Woolwich Boys. There is always negative media representation when it comes to Somalis - especially in woolwich. We've had Darcus Howe talk bout how filthy Somali were on Channel 4, also recently Woolwich Boys were said to be the most dangerous criminals in London, after the shooting of PC beshnivsky in Bradford. Does one shooting make an entire population of Somalis criminals? or is the media hyping things up as usual? p.s Don't be shocked by the gun - its fake! There is one SoL forumer who knows Woolwich more than anyone. Where is Winger when you need him! XulaXu - you used to work in Filmworks, right?

Though soothing a sight the sunsets may be And the ocean’s silence – a solace for the sore sight Slumberous, still, and wading birds waddle with delight As calm waves kiss the sandy shores and leave their trail But soon that turns to turmoil, come the tempest overnight Though magnificent the moon may be Dazzling In the distant enchanted land A visual feast, so hypnotic and grand As the Nightingale its mesmeric melody sings But all soon wanes once the sun takes command Though delighted once a person may be Possessed by the gaiety that fills his air Without much dread and less for care But when it comes the time to grieve Soon all his efforts turn into despair Though now willowy, at the peak of your prime And many marvel at your graceful manoeuvre And pompous gait and gloat, too busy to discover That covertly it creeps and calamity will befall Alas! The infamy of age and all will be over Though steadily fleeting with time, Your profound beauty remains As pure as white, as heaven ordains Like a Lilly that gently floats Atop the placid pond it reigns Though in its full blossom and ripeness Your sight is but a pleasure the eye Even to the larks that twitter in the sky But like an ocean of bluebells in May Soon that fades come the month of July So bask yourself in its rays while it lasts And live and laugh at your life’s height For even one kissed by the summer’s light Though becomes merry for a time prescribed Surely awaits seasons of mist and wintery a night Go ahead, my dear, and rejoice while you can And fragrant wreaths and garlands make For even the flowers that opened at daybreak Too become dreary and dull at the dawn of dusk As darkness from their petals all glory does shake
