If that assumption is true, then why are there american navy ships in the Chinese sea or French troops in Mali or Drone strikes or the Atom bomb. Unless a society adopts what the dominant global unpeaceful culture propagates, then that society is not given its due recognition and peace (no navy ships in their backyards). So cut the B.S. and go take a trip around the world and see the reality as it is. Forever dodging the question! forget about peace, why is there such disparity between the living standards of say a place like Ethiopia and Canada?
  2. its a very odd and widespread attitude that in the face of failure, rather then address the source of these failures, we try to subvert the meaning of success (khayr) or throw around vague words like the west (apophis). Even more odd that Islam is religion that teaches to approach everything in moderation, yacni find a balance between living in the now and for the here after. Either way, this ostrich like attitude is of no help but if it helps anyone feel better about themselves, whatever helps.
  3. the single book that has sparked my love of literature was the great expectations by Charles Dickens. More recently it was the outliers by mr gladwell and freakonomics. not sure how anyone can read those two books, actually, every book changes you a little...silly question

Its not hate future, the headline implies that the someone, some is giving gun permits and background checks on people. which its clearly not. either way, I am sure all Somalis are hope for the best, especially those of from the city like myself lol
  5. oday rumi la oran jiray ba wuxu yidhi, waxaad raadiso aadna way ku raadinyan. If we welcome every leader with negatively, how can we expect anything positive. The man has not been confirmed but people are already calling him names.

If the government at least did not put up a fight, what does it mean for its diplomatic corps?
  7. Khaatumo is ina limbo when the people of Khaatumo decide it is. Until then people should mind their business
  8. Gar_maqaate, I think we really are in need of separation of powers. The legislative and executive are almost the same.
  9. Konfuria and *********, one is the actual name of a city in Somalia
  10. HAG and ******, only one of these will appear even though they mean exactly the same thing. We need to return to the Golden rules and mods please update the censured words or lets abandoned it, just my two cents
  11. I seldom speak in absolutes but I believe this "narrative" to not only be true but that overwhelming majority of Somalis believe this in their hearts of hearts despite recent clannish brain washing. The Somali nation as absorbed minorities but so have other nations. Are we egalitarian, not as much as we like to think but its possible.
  12. My favorite Somalis are from this city
  13. but "teaching" at a university or a technical doesn't make you a professor.
  14. I swear I have the Same problem. I know am one the 700,000 names on the TSA's list for sure. I have no good reason to go to Mogadishu but just spend two days there. I can't risk not being able to come back though.
  15. I wonder what part of the constitution gives him the right to hand pick cabinet members. What a fatadugle this guy has become.
  16. Its is the nature of Somali parliaments to vote down governments, our political system incentivizes this sort of thing. The thinking in the head of mps goes like this: "if this government is ousted, maybe I will get a seat in the new". I little over 50 percent fulls under that sort of thinking, know that they don't support the president or PM for clannish reasons. The rest will vote along clan lines to either support the PM or President along clan lines. The numbers support we seeing coming out parliament support this theory Kaluun. Sometimes though, you have a strong PM that can galvanize MPs to his side, curb presidential power grab and corruption. Hassan has clearly shown himself to be corrupt, wither himself or the people he surrounds himself with. This is why we need a strong PM, come what may.
  17. Somalis are said to be maay iyo maxa tiri. Maay are almost exclusively beeralay

That's record in Konfur politics and thus a serious player not just a face of an NGO. Today the likes of Naxar, Dahir Alasow and Garowe quarter will not sleep. Cullusow now can name whoever he wants even if thats Turkish bread baker from Turkish Kilometer-Istanbul. Lol, Saacid was no friend of Garowe, we will sleep soundly knowing who ever will be appointed can do no worse then Saacid
  19. well if the president wants to day to day affairs, going as far as demanding a share of cabinet seats, then he should run for prime minister ship. Truth is, the one who failed here is not only Saacid. All the missteps came from villa Somalia, not Villa Baydhaba. Saacid and Hassan had a deal that for whatever reason the president would steer. now for hassan to not break that but the throw the blame at the pm and then fire him is just odd. The PM and presidency are a power sharing positions, we need a strong PM and president, or you will have this lopsided and dysfunctional government like the one that was impeached today. If you can't control your cabinet, like Saacid, what can you control....
