  1. more offensive then anything duke has ever wrote is your paragraph long sentences. I really do wish you would start to value clarity and conciseness. What Red Sea sees as "sophisticated" is really just an annoying butchering of the English Language.
  2. Baashi, forget uncle sam, do these groups want to negotiate with the government? they have shown again and again that they have not intention of engaging the government. Am sure you are aware of what has happened last time in khartoum. the government sent its president, prime minister and he foreign minister while they have sent cadow. truth be told, this is another meaningless opposition. what will they come up with, we will attack the Somali and ethiopian government? From were? for the love of God, Asmara can not defend its own borders with ethiopia let alone fund and horbar a group that can challange ethiopia and Somalia and lets not forget, with US support. If they intend to, as Galaydh hints, want to "deplomatically" challange the government, there are two obstacles: The government itself is not engaged deplomatically with the rest of the world except few safarado and does not have much to lose. And fortunate, the world does not work like the flip-flopery that is somali politics. the world supports this government, they now why and they are not going to stop because few dowladdiid formed a group in Asmara. Will Somalis ever learn to put their eggs in the right basket, only god can tell.
  3. I see attacking duke has become habit for some here, not sure but is it not against the rules to engage in personal attacks?
  4. Mo dheere rewarding the police for shooting attackers.
  5. We really do read too much into whats been happening in sanaag lately. this has nothing to do with puntland or Somaliland. These is between native vigilantes of Haylan and environmentals bandits from karkar. Whats sad though, is the fact that dhahar has to use vigilantes to protect the environment. Rer Sanaag have been president Cade Muuse's most ardent supporters but it seems Cade and his administration are holing themselfs up in bosaso day by day, leaving all other regions to fend for them selfs.

  7. mr oodweyne, whatever you or those in hargeisa believe aside, is in bad faith that hargeisans should ask for a passport from a person from mogadishu or vice versa. this is the very reason some of oppose cutting the country in two, these artificial bounderies between northern and southern Somalis, between families. for someone like me who has one parent from berbera and another from Las Anod, is it not preposterous for me to carry a pass port between the two cities? whatever the intention of those in Hargeisa or even in mogadishu, i find this requirement rediculous. further more, its my understanding that the contention of those in hargeisa was not that people from mogadishu were from another country but that they would not accept the passport from an entity that they did not recognize and that they felt that these new passports were taking money from "poor refugees" of mogadishu. Am i wrong in this?
  8. are these the one that were rejected before or new oness?
  9. Why on earth would one need a passport between Hargeisa and Mogadishu to begin with? I can't imagen taking a passport to go to philly from columbus. If Somaliland things requiring passports from Somalis coming from other cities is going to help them get recognition, they are mistaken.
  10. Somalis and their conspiracies, when will we stop searching for some hidden national boogeyman and deal with the problem that face us? Ethiopia shares every problem that Somalia faces. Just because its bigger only means that its problems are bigger. stop making Ethiopia into something it is not not and never will be. Saddly, , it seems that every problem we face, now khat, is being blamed on the ethios. Somali Ancestors must be turning in their graves for Modern Somalis turning those lowly mountain people and formers (qotee) into a monolithic being that is responsible for every pin that drops in Somalia. War isku xeeshoda.
  11. we musn't put everything on our todays list of things to do. Ethio influence on the Somali coast is extensive from jibuti to kismayo. Any Somali leader who makes any enemy of them now will commit a political suicide. Its my believe that this government you are attacking and which is friends ethiopia presents the best chance we have towards self sufficiency. these other ones though present a present danger, a continuence of jahwareerka somalia. I wise man chooses their enemies carefully, it would do as no good to make ethiopia an enemy at this stage, that was the mistake the former president Barre made, shall we cantinue to repeat history.
  12. SB : "Genuine reconciliation conference would have seen all warring parties talking without Ethiopian guns pointed at anyone..." Ethiopia influnces everything from jibuti to kismayo, they influence every faction in Somalia, before talking about what our beighbors might be doing to our lown, should we not get our house in order?
  13. Bilaal "is no conflict between clans." this is a colossal misunderstanding of whats been going on in Somalia for the past 17 years! And it justifies all those insults hurled at "Qorbajoogta" who know nothing of a land they left decades ago but still blindly fallow clan war mongers! if you for a second think that the Somali conflict is between Yusuf and geedi v.s. Aweis and Shariif or Ethios v.s. Ertitraa, leave Somali politics alone, you will never contribute anything to it.
  14. "even as analysts expressed doubts over the outcome, saying major parties in the current crisis had been left out of the peace-making process." I wonder, who these "Major Parties" are Juje. These "analyst" lack basic understanding of the somali people and the conflict. These major parties had their time, two years to be exact, in kenya. how many years do these "Major parties" need. For these "Analyst" deplomats to say this amounts to questioning the legitimacy of the transitional government and that for me, amounts interfering in the internal affairs of Somalia. Why do you thing they are always "Undisclosed". Its simple, their governments support the transitional government and they would dare not go against the policies of their government. Juje, If I were you, I would not put much value on the concerns and observations of "undisclosed" foreign deplomats and analyst!
  15. SB" "Asmara conference would be a failure just like the M'disho one. As painful as it is, it must include the seditious gang -- TFG -- and it's supporters if it is to have fighting chance of success." by far the most wise and centrist thing i have heard from you. You are right, talks between like minded people will not result in anything but bringing to the table people who are at each other throught might bring some positive agreements. My understanding, though, was that this was not a conference for political negotions but to reconcile warring clans. If the purpose of it all was as I understood it, then the very fact that it brought somay elders and clans heads to come and agree to peace is successful.
  16. rud, i don't have a magic ball that tells me what will happen in mogadishu in ramadam but for now the ones getting bullets in their backs while running like chickens are the qarandiid, dowladdiid, nabaddiid, moryans.
  17. people, these people were killed for trying to kill, it has nothing to do with the mayor or the police or ethiopia. why are some of you complaining, would you rather they stand there waiting to get hit with a bullet or a bomb? waxa la yidhi: Ama afeef hore lahow, ama adkeysin dambe lahow.
  18. what i asked you was not wither they were killers or not, that for me is clear, but you claim that they belonged to "un-armed" and what being from an "arm or unarmed" clan had to do with trying to kill solders and shot for it?
  19. duke, they should have been doing this a long time ago but better late then never, i don't how you can allow these nabaddiids to walk around throwing bombs at solders, police and people. Juje, how the hell do you know clan they belong to, mida kale, ***** ******, why does the clan of someone trying to kill them matter to the solders? 20. let me get this right Juje, you want the police to do nothing while someone is throwing a grenade at them? should they not be incouraged to defend themselves and civilians from such people?
