Only things Somaliland has brought to SSC is solders/orphans of the queen. Can Somalilanders even go to Buhoodle? -
^^ that man with the upside down Mexican flag is in Guadalajara for all I know. AS for heroes returning to Las Anod, stop being simpletons and ask your self were these supposed heroes are coming. If they are returning from Garowe and they are heroes, does that not make them Puntland heroes? Lets not abuse words like hero.

Naxar Nugaaleed replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in General
"Do most Somalis have a forehead or is it just a generalized stereotype?" no thats not true they don't have a forhead, they have a fivehead! I kidd, I kidd. Honestly other Somalis to me can look like other cushitic peoples, arabs or Indians or even African American. honest To God I have all four in my immediate family. I even know Somalis who look korean or chinese. and when Somalis mix, they look like whatever they mixed with. About this forehead obsession, all ethnic groups have both small and large ones. if you ask me, larger one looks better, anyone seen tyra banks fivehead? -

Puntland versus Somaliland on the treatment of Somali IDPs

"We, the ****** Community in the United States of America, on behalf of the Somali people in ****** region, do hereby strongly condemn the inhuman, malicious and horrendous act perpetrated by Hargeisa Administration against innocent civilian nationals from ******. It is a worrisome development that shook our heart. Recently the Hargeisa Administration hunted and rounded up a significant number of civilians from ****** region. Fifty Seven (57) of these were transported while blindfolded and were handed over to the Ethiopian security forces in ****** that uses methods of torture that include: beating, whipping, electrical shock and rape to obtain confession. There are much more others who are, as confirmed, still languishing in Hargeisa prisons. The victims have no any political affiliation to any group or individual lately or in the past but were there purely for business and health related issues. We were shocked, but not surprised, by this beastly brutal and heartless act, which was carried out on behalf of the Ethiopian colonialist to achieve some facile political mileage at the expenses of innocent lives, nor matter how irrational and futile. We cannot imagine a more outrageous and exasperating act than this carried out by the fanatical administration at Hargeisa, destitute of justice and mercy, without the fear of God, supremely selfish, malignant and arrogant in its action and persecuting the innocent even unto blood. It puzzles the imagination to conceive the ********* and the unmitigated rascality that impel them to this ill-fated course. This raises serious questions about the character and existence of the Hargeisa Administration to be a tribal entity masqueraded as an independent sovereign Administration. More recently, it has became a favorite scheme with this administration to invade its neighbors occasionally stepping on sore and sensitive wound, fleecing and jailing an unsuspecting visitors who committed no crime except that they happened to belong to a certain community, and surrendering them to their enemy. This kind of behavior will muddy the current atmosphere of goodwill prevailing in the area and land the Hargeisa administration right in the center of a political minefield. To this end, we would like to remind the fact that the atrocities of the previous administration are still vivid and fraying in the Somali peoples’ mind in ****** with no console or apology from any quarter neither the administration nor the Elders Consultative Council which is considered to be the administrations think-tank. Do we have then to consider it as a well meditated and collectively rehearsed decision? Time will tell, but it will be a self-destructive policy if it is proved right and it will lead to a wider conflict and bloodshed in the region. We, therefore, highly advise the Hargiesa Administration to desist from such discarded and opportunistic policy and not destroy the relative tranquility in the area by exciting cheap tribal sentiment that will adversely affect the livelihood of the Somali people in the area who are largely interdependent. We also call the elders, intellectuals and religious leaders in Hargiesa not to remain mute as their administration’s trampling over their brother’s rights. We do expect you, in good faith, to put pressure on the administration to reverse itself and stop unleashing the ill-advised hate campaign against their brethrens. Because to maintain good neighborliness between the two brotherly people, such act should be strictly guarded against. It is also confirmed that some other people are still in the Hargeisa prison, left for a business and health related issues - and this was not their first time to do so”. The victims have no any political affiliation to any group or individual lately or in the past. Finally, it should be understood here that your brothers in ****** region are still fighting for self-determination. They are in a holy struggle against our born enemy for whom we are to pray and from whom we are to defend ourselves. Instead of helping and professing a strong solidarity with them, some of our brothers are intimidating and backstabbing them! But surely these intimidations will neither budge nor lull them to sleep, but intern hardens the hearts of the oppressed. A common enemy binds the Somali people. And this enemy is using all meanings to make the Somali people live like brother against a brother so that we might not ideally stand together as a united people/nation, knowing full-well that a pervasive sense of vulnerability make it easier for it to push its imperialism and continue dominate the Horn of Africa region. To achieve this and destroy the very fibre that holds together the Somali people our enemy never misses an opportunity to using some novice elements in our midst who possesses very limited political capital and experience in the issue of the day. A case in point is Mr. Kahin’s recent maneuvering and action, which raised eyebrows in some quarters that sees him, rightly or wrongly, to be the last baptized warlord in the Somali scene. Mr Kahin has been in the limelight lately as some critics unraveled some of his human rights record in Barre’s Administration, depicting him a man who make a career out of unscrupulously criminal activities. Its unfortunate that the more the Somali people want/try to unite, the more evil elements creep in. Puntland versus Somaliland on the treatment of Somali IDPs

Somaliland - Journalists Who Fled Grave Human Rights Violations in Mogadishu Under Threat of Expulsion "Amnesty International today expressed concern at the Somaliland Government's order of expulsion against 24 Somali journalists who had fled to the Somaliland capital of Hargeisa from violence and grave human rights violations against media workers in Mogadishu. The journalists, who worked for Shabelle Media, Hornafrik Media Network, Simba Radio and Dayniile On-line, fled from Mogadishu over the last three months. The majority arrived in Hargeisa after the recent increase in fighting in Mogadishu in November. The Somaliland Government has allowed numerous people displaced by the conflict in southern and central Somalia to enter Somaliland and find safety there. The displaced 24 journalists are being supported by the officially-recognized Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA). Yesterday (4 December), the Somaliland Commissioner of Police, General Mohamed Dubad Sangadhi, told them, "Your presence here is endangering the national security of Somaliland, therefore, this is an order, you must leave this country in 24 hours, failing which you will be taken to a court of law." The Commissioner of Police was later interviewed by the BBC Somali Service, and quoted as stating these journalists were threatening the security of Somaliland by writing stories against "our Ethiopian friends." Today, Somaliland Government officials stated that the deadline for them to leave had been extended for a number of days. A number of the 24 journalists had shortly before this incident told an Amnesty International delegation visiting Hargeisa that they had been subject to repeated death threats during their work in Mogadishu. They also stated they had been targeted to be killed, either by members of the security forces of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG) and the Ethiopian military force supporting it, or by the insurgents or unidentified armed men. Some had also been briefly detained by TFG militias on 18 September 2007, during a raid on the offices of Shabelle Media. Amnesty International is gravely concerned that by expelling these 24 journalists, the Government of Somaliland would be undermining its obligation to protect them. As persons displaced by violence and fleeing from the threat of grave human rights abuses, the primary concern of the Government of Somaliland should be to ensure their safety. Any arbitrary expulsion of those displaced would violate their human rights and put their safety at risk. Amnesty calls upon the Government of Somaliland not to expel these journalists, and to continue to provide them with protection and safety if they wish to stay in Somaliland. Their human rights should be respected in Somaliland, including their right to freedom of expression. To Amnesty International's knowledge, they have committed no offence in Somaliland and] representatives of the Government of Somaliland have indicated that they are not accused of any crime. Background The situation for journalists in Somalia has continued to deteriorate, with at least eight journalists killed with impunity this year. The TFG has repeatedly shut down media houses and arrested journalists, although usually only for short periods, with Shabelle Media, Simba Radio and Banadir Radio stations all closed down in the last month. A recent new media law imposes new restrictions on the private media, and has led to virtually all media being shut down until yesterday (4 December). Journalists also receive frequent death threats believed to come from armed groups opposed to the TFG and Ethiopian troops, as a result of their coverage of the conflict and their reporting on human rights violations and violations of international humanitarian law by all parties to the conflict. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 after the overthrow of the former Siad Barre government, and continues to seek international recognition. It is the only part of the former Somali Republic to have a government elected under a multi-party democratic system, and a functioning system of governance.
