  1. JB, i have to give it to you landers, you are foresighted people, top to bottom unlike other Somalis. You guys understood that your best chance of secession was a complete and utter failure in the south and you have pursued that line of thinking to death, attacking any interim government or group that rises in the other parts of Somalia. But you guys have failed in realizing when this line failed to work. Most recently, all you landers have joined the band wagon of those southern dowladiids in bashing yet another opportunity to bring their country back, brazenly enough cloaked in patriotism. Why, if i may ask, do you landers concern yourself so whith the daily happening of a government your consider foreign if not for the reason i gave above. If am right, is it not time to change tactics?
  2. Originally posted by Lois Lane: NN, While you simplify the notion of a genocide with the examples of the holocaust, the Rwandan and Darfur tragedy, you minimise the Somali tragedy by simply calling it a civil war. In some aspect, indeed it is one. However it is also genocide. The term isn’t only measured by the amount of people who die or the nature of the act. Under the article 1 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide it states: The Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time of peace or in time of war, is a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish. And as for its definition article 2 says: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: • (a) Killing members of the group; • (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; • © Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; • (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; • (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. Thus walaal, A and B clearly define the situation of our country today. As for C while you might argue that point, the TFG and Ethiopian administration decided together and calculated their plan to invade Somalia, while fully aware that this would not be accepted by the actual citizen of the country. Lois, walaal, just tell me this ethnic group r religion that is being exterminated, because thats the meaning of Genocide. As for as the TFG invading Somalia, am really not sure how to respond to that, after all wither elected or selected, a government can not invade its own country.
  3. Ok, seriously, there is no amxaar army. those poor people who once use to rule Ethiopia are mostly formers now. can we agree on that before we get to who shot who and if that can be called a genocide.

Originally posted by Koora-Tuunshe: The Somali Crisis Since Somalis have failed to solve their problems over the last 17 years, it is about time that the World community intervenes to save us from ourselves. The way things are going, there is no hope in sight and the situation can only get worse. We cannot afford to wait another 17 years in search of leaders who can extricate us from the quagmire we are in. This is the critical failure of all those who look at Somalia and think that some savior is gonna fall out of the sky or think that all the problems of Somalia is do to leadership or lack of it are fools. James Carville was known for saying its the economy, ******. I would like to take the time to say to all the people that think like that, its the people, ******. The Jews have been waiting for their savior and I think it would takes longer if we think some super human, or the "World" to safe us from ourselves.
  5. again, Amhars are only indiscriminately opening fire on Somalis in you mind, i swear. Your having a big dream, wake up, there is no bogeyman in your closet, i promise. Those poor formers are in gondar.

  7. a lot is riding on this Security council meeting. South Africa heads this meeting, which has been the country doing most of the campaigning for UN intervention in Somalia. If Somalia is to get a robust peacekeeping force, it can worry about other things besides security for the first time in nearly two decades, for ethiopia, it means its poorly funded troops can go back home and the president of the DRC is just trying to get a nab in.
  8. whoa buddy. a lot of assumptions. no "we" do not all insult arabs or other people or woman (Congrats on insulting more then half the worlds humans and an entire ethnic group that if not genes, we share a lot other things in common) for having American bases. Some of US really support them in their fight against the Taliban and alqaida and their toppling of the Saddom regime. when you say that some us would support the US over "our muslim brothers", not all us see the world as America vs. muslims. Bosnia, Kosovo, their response to tsunamis in Indonesia, operation restore hope, and getting rid of repressive dictatorial regimes like Saddom's and the that of Taliban not mention the lunatics headed by Bin Laden are just some example of America doing good for the mujslim world. as for your question, i would't mind if Sudan was bombed today and that would do something about Durfur and as for as Israel, forget the Americans, i would like us to have working relationship with Israelis.
  9. silly people, let the people talk. The point of negotiations is not who is right but what they can compromise on. Clearly, the government should say there is no going back on the transitional federal charter, the presidency or the position of the prime minister but they should be open to giving some ministerial portfolios, going back to MP selectors to perhaps change few seats in parliament to reinstate some members of the "free parliament" (I hope to god not the chief obstructionist Sharif Hassan Shaikh Aden ) and lastly to have the ethiopian troops withdraw if there is a multinational peace force to replace them and the opposition agrees to at least assist in disarmament.
  10. how sad that people throw around words like genocide around. I don't think you or the righters know what genocide mean. to make it simple, genocide is what has happened to the jews in the Holocaust or the tutsi of rawanda or the darfuri now in Sudan. some moryoleys shooting each other in somalia is at most a civil war of strife but genocide. Lastly, there is no distinct tribe or ethino-religous group for there to be a genocide.
  11. Prime Minister Meles, president kabila and president Yusuf. I could help but to laugh when i saw this pic and thought of the images of the three wise monkeys. i know monkeys have a negative rep in our nick of the woods but that is not the case in the eastern part of the world and the philosophy, which some call the japanese golden rule, is "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil". disclaimer: this has nothing to do with the these leaders or monkeys for that matter.
  12. lets not make a big deal about everything people. This is the world's most unstable region and God knows we need a any kind of American presence in that region. Regardless of where they use, i would like someone to challenge all the crazy rebels, surwaal gaabs and pirates in this part of the world. If our common will is stability, a return to statehood and all that comes with having having a functioning government (Real ones, not imaginary ones for all the landers in here) then we should support any steps toward that. LOL at the "I hate B52s" me.
  13. i also wonder what brushed aside means in the english language
  14. there are no lines, you just basically brushed aside the murder of these teachers because others are killed, what kind of world do you live in? what kind of logic is that?
  15. i here these criminals can claim asylum in europe for fear they will be killed if they are sent back to local authorities and it is against EU policy to send back captives to countries were they will be executed. lets hope they give them back.
  16. what does that have to do with killing people, are you condoning murder?
  17. from the arabian desserts, the mountains of afghanistan, pakistan, Iran, egypt, palestine and now Somalia, we seem to be getting a lot more muslims who seem nostalgic for a dessert lifestyle from a few hundred years ago while the rest of the world is trying to make progress. some people are worrying about poverty, global worming and god knows what but some people in our nick of the woods can only focus on what woman wear and wither or not boys and girls who are "foreigners" to each other, as the article says, should me in the same room. or danish paintings. I read a few years ago an article about a nigerian artist (or some other west african country) who blasted a statue of the virgin mary with elephant feces in a new york art gallery. I don't recall the same outrage as those danish cartoons have produced.
  18. for all those how support these mullahs in all their forms, uic-shabab-qaadsiya-ikhwaan or whatever the hell they call them selfs, know that that is where you are heading, people who of all the problems they face will only find the salution to eliminating people who attend gender mixing events and how to send them straight to hell. Where on earth do these muslims who want to live in the dark ages come from?
  19. Las Anod is being held by the Militia that you support, lets not waste each others time with silly questions. Somaliland Invaded that city and the leaders of that city can not return until its liberated. you yourself advocated for the arrest of these Garaads so why do you ask me why can't he he go to las anod. By the way, Fitnah is being caused by the people who have marched all the way from borame and hargeisa to wage war against the people of SSC and the state of Puntland.
