more importantly why would any parent let their kids roam the streets harassing people. Even in somalia as a kid, my parents always knew our whereabouts and if we where up to no good, we would be banned from leaving the house without supervision. kids on the street called host negative terms like, dibjir, iskoris, ceeyala suuq... All you parents in here, please do everyone a favor and raise your children if you decide to have them for the love of God.

Burqa/Niqab: To Ban or Not To Ban, That is The Question
Naxar Nugaaleed replied to LayZie G.'s topic in General
people have a right to preserve their culture. If some Frenchies came to Somalia's beaches running around and frolicking in some thongs all hell would break lose, so we should try to understand their cultural and security fears and the legitimate concern for the seclusive life it forces on the wearers of one eyed or two eyed burqas... -

my question is where is all the money that has been collected to develop the "East". Are we to assume it is being used for paint jobs in old buildings? Someone should advice the regime in hargeisa that they are going about this the wrong way, perhaps JB? -
cyber sectarian warfare, interesting... they kill innocent people because religious disagreements, murtad and takfiir and khawa whatever, all unnecessary play with words.

Burqa/Niqab: To Ban or Not To Ban, That is The Question

I am totally against this monstrous tora bora tradition that relegates muslim woman to a subservient role of an unpaid house keeper and baby factory. How can you be a functioning member of any society dragging this thing around? How do you get a driving license, work or anything else for that matter. Its one thing to encourage islamic modesty (avoiding tight or see through stuff and cover your head) but another to push upon woman this tool of subjugation, even for ones who suffer from a stockholm syndrome. A lot analysis has been made of why it is that Muslim societies fell behind others and in my opinion the best one is that one that suggest we don't utilize the talent of half of our societies: Woman. Its like asking a one eyed man to compete with one that has both or one ear or one arm or leg or whatever makes sense to you. -

Originally posted by STOIC: Zulfa, When I posted yesterday that article about my city that was written by a Philly journalist about the recent use of Burqa by some brothers as a crime tool I had no intention of disaporving the dress.I view veiling as a sign of honor and distinction among women of faith.I don’t agree with some viewing it as a symbol of women inferiority in Islam, but rather a choice women make to dress to their likings. Now do I see my wife or my daughter wearing that veil? No, because veiling in Islam can be a generic term that means wearing a loosely fit modest covering! I see many Muslims in my city of Philadelphia wearing the burqa style in public minding their business. I don’t think they are under the sway of an oppressive patriachial husband at home rather I’d like to view it as a CHOICE. Thanks God I live in America where people dress as they choose! I don't know if this Journalist was writing about philly or not but you should walk down chestnut street in west philly, right afte U-city and they are everywhere, even the non muslims walk around talking about aaki this and aaki that.

Somalis are incorrigibly isolationist. We should not advocate for assimilation but to be a functioning segment of the societies we find our selves, integration is a must. I have stopped long ago to be surprised by Somalis, even little children call others Gaal this and Gaalo that for no apparent reason but a wide spread disdain for those around US and perhaps the need of Somalis to reassert their Somalinemo here and there. Especially among large populations of Somalis, Cultural islands are created within societies that basically insure almost zero contact with other member of society. Unfortunate but especially in north America, we are very similar to Mexican immigrants, they can be here a lifetime but can not speak a word of English because they never step outside of that cultural/linguistic bubble they have made for themselves. The difference is that mexico is just south of the border, Somalia is continent away. I have uncle who was a sailer settled in New york in the 60s. As we walked a few blocks one day, I saw this old man greet some Yemenis in Arabic, some South Americans in Spanish, Some black Americans in English all while speaking to me in Somali as if he left Somalia yesterday. Integration is the key to being successful and treating our neighbors better as a community.

some here are under the false assumption that other nations will tolerate a shabab controlled somalia. Shabaab is not an option.
