But in reality, it is this way, I pay you, obey my orders, you like to to be held hostage like that, am sure we are on same page here! We don't need their salaries and food aid, do you?!! sxb I admire your good heart and good intentions, but that is the reality, we contribute nothing so we have no right to be independent, this "leave us alone and we can do it our selves" rants are nice and admirable slogans, but they are just slogans, maybe you should pay a short visit to the country, and believe me these guys "UN" run it, and no body is forcing Somalis to keep them that way, but that is how things are, and the only way we Somalis could get out of this voluntary slave & master relationship is the day we realize "if you can't feed your self, you don't deserve your freedom".

  7. Our seas are one of the richest in the world, take for example the TUNA, the value of tuna captured from our seas is $6 billion a year. imagine how much the other types of fishes worth. here is an article about the tuna loses due to piracy. The coast of Somalia is rich source of tuna from August to November Piracy off Somalia's coast is a cause of falls in tuna catches in the Indian Ocean - one of the world's richest sources of the fish, experts say. The head of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission, Alejandro Anganuzzi, said catches fell by about 30% last year, seriously affecting the industry. The Seychelles economy has been badly hit as many foreign fishing fleets are based there. The reduced supply because of piracy has also driven up the price of tuna. Ship seizures The Indian Ocean tuna industry is said to be worth up to $6bn. Last year Somali pirates took 42 commercial ships with crews hostage, according to the International Maritime Bureau, including the biggest oil supertanker ever captured. A number of countries began naval patrols off East Africa and in the Gulf of Aden to try to combat the attacks. With the threat still present, fishing fleets have had to move further east from the Somali coast, Mr Anganuzzi told Reuters news agency. About 40% of Seychelles's foreign earnings come from tuna and related industries, the IOTC said. French and Spanish fleets based in Seychelles caught only 50% of their expected catch. The fleets usually catch nearly two-thirds of the year's haul off Somalia between August and November, he said. Seychelles is paid per tonne of fish landed for port facilities and reduced catches mean fewer calls to port. "The pirates' biggest impact, however, is reduced supply, driving prices up," the head of the Seychelles Fisheries Authority, Rondolph Payet, told Reuters. http://towardfreedom.com/africa/2118-the-real-pirates-in-somalia-washington-paris-and-oslo

  17. Argentina Olympic ad sparks fury Argentina has risked stirring up political controversy with Britain ahead of the Olympics by broadcasting a video of an athlete training on the disputed Falkland Islands which it describes as "Argentine soil". "To compete on English soil, we train on Argentine soil," is the slogan closing the advert aired on Wednesday night with Fernando Zylberberg of the Argentine men's hockey team on a training run past several landmarks on the British-held islands. Controversy is already raging about the advert, with The Sun's front page on Friday accusing Argentina of "dancing on our graves", referring to Zylberberg using the steps of a British war memorial in his training. Ian Hansen of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly called it "cheap propaganda", while Falklands veteran Simon Weston said the film - which was made without permission from island authorities - was "as low as it gets". Argentines were also reportedly critical, with Buenos Aires newspaper La Nacion saying many see it as a stunt to make political capital by president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner's government. The advert contradicted the government's recent denial that the South American country would seek political gain from the London Games which take place from July 27 to August 12. Argentina claims sovereignty over the islands in the south Atlantic which Argentines call Las Malvinas. The Argentine government has pushed hard for negotiations with Britain this year, the 30th anniversary of Argentina's 1982 invasion of the islands which sparked a short war won by Britain with the loss of more than 900 lives on both sides. The advert was aired on the 30th anniversary of the sinking of Argentine ship the General Belgrano during the war. Zylberberg, who was on the islands last month with many Argentine participants in the Falklands marathon, was filmed doing exercises outside the Globe Tavern in the islands' capital Port Stanley and running past the offices of the Penguin News newspaper. "The idea was to get the message through that the Malvinas are Argentine," Zylberberg told the Cadena 3 radio station in an interview about the clandestinely-filmed advert. "I spent a whole week running on the island. It was an incredible experience because we were surrounded by (Argentine) war veterans," he said. Veterans were on a visit to the islands and some took part in the marathon. Government Sports secretary Claudio Morresi told Reuters in an interview last month: "The Argentine delegation will travel to London with the conviction in their minds and hearts that the Malvinas are Argentine but all they will be going to London to do is take part in the sporting event." I doubt if an eventual Union with Somalia would be based on 'federalist' princibles. What else would it be based on then if they drop the secession?. the only other option is con-federalism which gives even more powers than federalism, and even independency referendum. Federalism seems to be the midway logic, its neither centeralized nor con-federalism, its the perfect solution.
