So much for Sharif Sakiin, now bring on Sharif Miskiin
MoonLight1 replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
I heard he now swore to bring Gaas & Shariif down with him by directing D&G vote on other candidates, but I don't know how much control he has on them since Jawaari won, waxaan filayaa in D&G ay hadda kadib ku daba feylaan Jawaari. Skiin will not have the same power he had before -

The stolen tuna only is worth $6b a year. (six billion dollars), imagine other more expensive fish such as lobster and sardine. BBC one minute world news Somali piracy 'reduces tuna haul' The coast of Somalia is rich source of tuna from August to November Piracy off Somalia's coast is a cause of falls in tuna catches in the Indian Ocean - one of the world's richest sources of the fish, experts say. The head of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission, Alejandro Anganuzzi, said catches fell by about 30% last year, seriously affecting the industry. The Seychelles economy has been badly hit as many foreign fishing fleets are based there. The reduced supply because of piracy has also driven up the price of tuna. Ship seizures The Indian Ocean tuna industry is said to be worth up to $6bn. Last year Somali pirates took 42 commercial ships with crews hostage, according to the International Maritime Bureau, including the biggest oil supertanker ever captured. A number of countries began naval patrols off East Africa and in the Gulf of Aden to try to combat the attacks. With the threat still present, fishing fleets have had to move further east from the Somali coast, Mr Anganuzzi told Reuters news agency. About 40% of Seychelles's foreign earnings come from tuna and related industries, the IOTC said. French and Spanish fleets based in Seychelles caught only 50% of their expected catch. The fleets usually catch nearly two-thirds of the year's haul off Somalia between August and November, he said. Seychelles is paid per tonne of fish landed for port facilities and reduced catches mean fewer calls to port. "The pirates' biggest impact, however, is reduced supply, driving prices up," the head of the Seychelles Fisheries Authority, Rondolph Payet, told Reuters.

one less warlord in our governing system should be welcomed. Others will follow one day but we have to start from somewhere.

Could a similar deal be good for Somalia? trawlers and big vessels being staffed by 60% Somalis. $138 million Euros finance, badly needed for infrastructure. Since we Somalis don't have the capacity to fish on industrial scale I think this is better than illegal fishing or piracy.

Mauritania, EU sign new fishing deal Both parties agree on two-year accord after marathon 15 months of talks to agree on EU's exact financial contribution. EU boats fishing in Mauritanian waters will be staffed 60 percent by Mauritanians NOUAKCHOTT -Mauritania and the European Union signed a new fishing accord Thursday after months of heated debate to agree on the EU's exact financial contribution. "We agreed on a two-year accord after a marathon 15 months of negotiations that were intense at times," Mauritanian negotiator Cheikh Ould Baya said Thursday after signing the accord. The EU will contribute an annual 113 million euros ($138 million) in financing to Mauritania's fishing industry, up from the 76.5 million it gave under the previous accord, he said. That four-year protocol agreement on fishing will expire Tuesday. Under the new accord, the two sides agreed that the EU boats fishing in Mauritanian waters would be staffed 60 percent by Mauritanians. According to official statistics, the fishing sector represents over 20 percent of budget revenue and employs more than 36,000 people in Mauritania.

Hey guys calm down, we are talking about two standers of lives here. To earn $1300 a month and live in that flat with two wives and 11 children is considered "poor" and unacceptable in a country which exports nearly 10 million barrels of oil a day. But to earn $1300 a month in a country where the average individual daily earnings (according to UNICEF) are $1.25 is considered to be "fairly well off", in another words "a middle classed" family. two worlds, with two spending powers. http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/somalia_statistics.html

Oba does Shariif have plan B if he doesn't get his men in? I heard the overall Tolka are trying to convince him to get out of the race for Caddow, Baadiyo or Yusuf Garaad as his chances are declining.

Somalia Olympic runner 'drowns trying to reach Europe' A Somali Olympic athlete has reportedly drowned while attempting to reach Europe on a migrant boat. Runner Samia Yusuf Omar was trying to cross from Libya to Italy in April when the boat she was travelling in sank, according to Italian media. The head of Somalia's National Olympic Committee confirmed to the BBC that she had died but did not say how. Samia was said to have moved to Ethiopia in search of a coach Samia competed in the 200m event at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 despite having almost no formal training. Although she came in last place, several seconds behind the other competitors, the BBC's Alan Johnston in Rome says it is extraordinary that she was able to take part at all. She had grown up and trained in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, facing war, poverty, a complete lack of athletics facilities and prejudice from some quarters against women participating in sports. According to a profile of Samia on al-Jazeera, she faced death threats and intimidation when she returned to Somalia after the 2008 Olympics, with the Islamist militia al-Shabab controlling parts of the capital. 'We will not forget' In October 2010, the runner is reported to have moved to Ethiopia in search of a coach to help her train for the London 2012 Olympics. What happened between then and her apparent death in the Mediterranean Sea is unclear. According to al-Jazeera, there were no guarantees that she would be accepted to train at the stadium in Addis Ababa - it was dependent on her running times and permission from the Ethiopian Athletics Federation. Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version Reports in Italian media suggest she may have been hoping to find a coach in Europe who could help her reach the London Olympics. Her sister Hodan, who lives in Finland, told the BBC's Newsday programme that Samia had left Addis Ababa and first travelled to Sudan and then up to Libya. "She arrived in Libya in September 2011; for several months we didn't hear from her when she was lost in the Libyan desert and detained there," Hodan said. "Then she decided to go by boat, and we told her not to, and my mother tried to tell her not to. But Samia was very determined and asked for our mother's forgiveness, and my mother gave it, and she took the boat, and she died." Hoda said the family heard about the death from some people travelling on the same boat. "Samia died in an incident when the Italian navy approached them when they ran out of petrol, and they asked for help, so the Italian ship threw some ropes over the side for them to catch and swim to the navy ship, but unfortunately she was one of seven people - six women and one man - who died trying to get on to the Italian ship by the ropes," she said. Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera says Samia's fate only came to light when former Somali Olympic athlete Abdi Bile brought it up at a talk. He mentioned Mo Farah, the Somali runner who moved to the United Kingdom aged 12 and triumphed in this year's Olympics. "We are happy for Mo - he is our pride," he said. "But we will not forget Samia." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19323535

Abdiwelis biggest threat is to be eliminated on technicality
MoonLight1 replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
Abwaan, its not only Puntland who will have problem with the speaker's position, I heard the H bloc are bombarding Mahiga with countless threats that if they don't get one of the top jobs they will boycott the new admin and are using the "Muqdisho" the capital card, and he is really taking this threat seriously and thinking about releasing Shariif's unholy list. Maxaad arintaas ka heysaa? -
